4 Baby/Child Dedication One of the Christian s dearest desires and privileges is to dedicate our children to the Lord. In the Evangelical Free Church, the most common manner for doing so is through a Service of Dedication. This service need not be only for infants, since we believe parents simply may not have had the opportunity to dedicate their children to the Lord when their children were babies. As long as children are young, they can be dedicated to the Lord by their parents. Pastor Art would like to do a baby/child dedication on the potential date of January 17. If you are interested in having your baby or child dedicated or if you have any questions about the dedication service, please contact Pastor Art at or pastor_art@piercehill.org. The date will be confirmed soon. As a reminder here is the final list of nominees for the leadership positions. At this time, comments and nominations are closed. The leadership positions will be Nominations voted on at the December business meeting next Sunday, December 13 at 6:00pm. The nominations are as follows: Church Chair: Mark Davis* Elder: Mark Davis* * Note: Elders make the nominations for Church Chair and Elders Deacon Chair: Tony DeHart Deacon: Tony DeHart, Steve MacQuarrie Financial Secretary: Holly Mayer Missions Commission Chair: Jim Crosby Nominating Committee: Michelle Arron, Sherilyn DeHart, Carol Hogan Outreach Chair: No Nomination Property Commission Chair: John Mayer Be sure to bring your cameras to the worship service on December 20. You ll want to capture special moments when the kids present their Christmas pageant. They are excited to share the story of Christmas! Invite your family and friends. They are in for a treat! 6 Communion More Than Remembering Following Jesus instructions (1 Corinthians 11:23-29), we celebrate communion in remembrance of Him. The bread and the cup, His body and His blood, remind us that Jesus Christ died, taking the punishment for our sins. When we take communion by eating and drinking, we do something more than remember, we also make a declaration about ourselves. When we take communion we declare: I am a sinner who is cut off from God by my sin unless there is a payment for sacrifice made for that sin. The body and blood of Jesus Christ are the only sufficient sacrifice for my sins. I am depending on Jesus dying for my sins, and He is my only hope for the forgiveness of my sins and eternal life with God. Jesus Christ is the Lord of my life. Should I Take Communion? YES - If you believe that Jesus sacrifice is your only hope for eternal life, join us as we remember His death and declare your dependence on that sacrifice. YES - If, right now, YOUR WANT TO START DEPENDING on Jesus Christ as your saving sacrifice, join us in declaration of your new faith in Him. NO - IF YOU HAVE NEVER CHOSEN to depend on Jesus Christ s sacrifice for your sins, please do not take the bread and the cup and, thereby, declare a faith which you do not have. CHILDREN AT COMMUNION - Communion, like the Passover, should be celebrated by families together. Our church s policy concerning any person under the age of 16 is that such a person will have discussed participation in communion with his/her parent(s) and with our pastor before joining with the church in celebration of communion. The parent(s) and the pastor should be confident that this person understands the significance of the elements of communion and the significance of taking communion. Parents are responsible for overseeing their children s participation or non-participation in communion.
