Eucharistic Adoration: Eucharistic Adoration on the First Friday of the month, beginning with the 8:30 am Mass and concluding with a Divine Mercy Holy Hour and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament at 3:00 pm. Novena Services: Miraculous Medal Novena and the Saint Teresa Novena, with veneration of the relic of Saint Teresa, every Monday following the 8:30 am Mass. Baptisms: Every Sunday of the month 1:30 pm following the 12:30 pm Mass. Parents are asked to contact the rectory and schedule an appointment with one of the parish priests to make arrangements for the celebration of the Sacrament and to register for the Baptism preparation class. Marriages: Please contact the rectory at least one year in advance of the wedding to schedule an appointment with one of the parish priests. Participation in the Marriage Preparation Program offered by the Archdiocese of New York, along with Natural Family Planning classes, is required. To register for Marriage Preparation sessions, contact the Family Life / Respect Life website at Parish Membership: New parishioners are warmly welcomed. Those already enrolled in the school, CCD Program, sports or other parish activities are not automatically registered in our parish. Please stop by the parish office or call for a membership form. It is important that all parishioners are registered. 3 August 12, Dear Parishioners and Friends of Saint Teresa Church, This Wednesday we have our joyful holyday celebrating the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into heaven. Masses will be on Tuesday at 4pm, and Wednesday at 7am, 8:30, Noon, and 7:30. This August 15th date shows that we are getting closer to our Sunday October 7th celebration in honor of our Patron Saint: Teresa of the Infant Jesus. Our Mass and luncheon will call attention to her inspiring life on earth and to her promise to spend eternity helping us from heaven. Whether we spell her name Teresa or Therese or Theresa, she can be an intercessor [a pray-er] for all of us who share her love for Jesus and who realize how much we benefit from having special saintly companions. Therefore I want to offer you a Novena to call upon our patron saint. I found it in a booklet from The Catholic Truth Society of England. A novena is a special way of praying for nine consecutive days. You use similar words or formulas, changing them if you wish to name an urgent need you have, or to help someone with a big problem, or if the Saint you are praying to had a similar problem you have, or nationality, or occupation. I invite you to use this Novena to Saint Teresa. A novena is easy to do and appealing. A novena is very personal; it helps you to speak to the holy person you want to help you. It lets you give voice to the worry/wish/ desire/demand that is bothering you. And it is limited to just nine days. No wonder so many people have made novenas. This Novena to the Little Flower allows you and me to match aspects of Saint Teresa's life and moods with our own behaviors or worries or needs. Use any words you want, but always feel free to ask for Saint Teresa's intercession. NOVENA TO SAINT TERESA First Day: As a small child, you were absolutely obstinate. Intercede for parents whose children are headstrong. Help parents to be firm but loving. I pray especially for [add your intention]. Our Father - Hail Mary - Glory be. Second Day: You were very close to your father. Help Christian fathers to show their children something like the loving fatherhood of God. I pray especially for [add your intention]. Our Father - Hail Mary - Glory be. Third Day: You suffered from being neurotic and scrupulous. Help all those who suffer in this way to know God's love and mercy. Fourth Day: You so wanted to enter the Carmelite convent at an early age that you were not afraid to ask the Pope himself, and were ready to endure the humiliation of being removed by the Swiss Guard. Fifth Day: You showed the greatest consideration and kindness to those you disliked. Help us to learn not to judge, but to be kind and understanding. I pray especially for [add your intention]. EUCHARISTIC ADORATION CHAPEL We live so close to the Eucharistic Adoration Chapel that is maintained on the grounds of St. Paul's/Alba House, 2187 Victory Boulevard. People who go there love it. They spend quiet time praying, thinking, reading, resting in the presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. You can go for just a few minutes, or spend more time. Many people decide to be Eucharistic Adorers and promise to be there once a week for an hour or more. Anyone can come up the main drive of the property and park near the building you will see on the left. There are signs for the entrance to the Eucharistic Chapel. It is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If you want to know Jesus better, come in and see what adoration is like. It might turn out to be very pleasing and life-giving. for you. PRAYER FOR THIS WEEK That the immortal souls of those who have died, especially our own family and friends, will be cleansed of sin and welcomed into eternal happiness with Jesus, Mary and all the saints, let us pray to the Lord... CATHOLICS BELONG TO A MISSIONARY CHURCH AND MUST DO THEIR PART TO SHARE THE GOSPEL The headline above is our annual reminder that we must spread the Good News of Jesus by supporting the work of Catholic missionaries through the Society for the Propagation of the Faith. Therefore, next Sunday at Masses, we will welcome Father Enzo Del Brocco, C.P., a member of the Passionist Order just returning from Haiti, who will make an appeal for our prayers and support for missionaries and the people that they serve.
