TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE Las cenizas que se nos pusieron en la frente el miércoles pasado ya están borradas, pero las palabras que nos dijeron deben sonar aún en nuestras almas. 9 March 10, First Sunday of Lent St. Matt Youth Raise Awareness for Community & World Hunger Four of our incredible high school Parishioners recently par cipated in the "Be the Change" Food Fast to raise awareness for world hunger, including hunger in our own communi es: Mia Ribellino, Joseph Troisi, Sean Mitchell and Jason Mitchell. It was a wonderful experience filled with God, service, friendship, and community at St. Philip Church. Par cipants fasted all day in support of this important cause. Students heard messages a video message from Bishop Frank J. Caggiano, and from local government and representa ves from Person 2 Person about what we can do in our own community to help combat the issue of hunger. A er a mid-day prayer service, the students par cipated in service projects around town such as filing food backpacks at Filling in the Blanks for the school weekend feeding program, collec ng groceries and delivering them to the Open Door Shelter, assis ng residents at The Maplewood, and making prayer blankets for those in our parishes in need of extra prayers. Throughout the day the students became members of tribes learning more about cultures in Africa and India, and places where lack of water or contamina on leads to poor food supply and many diseases. The day ended with a beau ful Mass where the students were nurtured by receiving the Eucharist.
