3 July 31, Eighteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time World Youth Day Day 5, Monday, July 25 "FOR EVER LET THIS PLACE BE A CRY OF DESPAIR AND A WARNING TO HUMANITY WHERE THE NAZIS MURDERED ABOUT ONE AND A HALF MILLION MEN, WOMEN AND CHILDREN MAINLY JEWS FROM VARIOUS COUNTRIES OF EUROPE. " 6am: Left for Auschwitz concentration camp in the morning. Breakfast packets supplied. First visited the camp I ( smaller). Then to camp II (larger). Bishop Caggiano offered prayers for the men, women and children who were mercilessly killed here. Heartbreaking. Everyone was quiet. Maintained decorum of the place. Very Moving. Sadness In the atmosphere. With heavy hearts walked almost 2 hrs. thru the camp. Lunch in the bus as we headed to the Shrine of Divine Mercy. The place St. Sr. Faustina, the fountain of God's Mercy. A complete contrast to the camps visited earlier that lacked mercy. Visited Shrine of John Paul II in the vicinity. Mass in the Shrine of Divine Mercy with U.S. pilgrims at 4:30. Cardinal O'Malley of Boston being the main celebrant. Dinner at Park Inn in the evening. Back to Hotel. Had been a Lo...ng Day. Walked 10 miles today. Yet full of energy. Fr. Sunil Pereira and WYD Pilgrims World Youth Day Day 6, Tuesday, July 26 Muggy and hot morning. Explored Krakow on foot. Castle and many churches including Basilica of St. Mary. Opening Mass in Blonia Park at 5:30 pm. Showers of blessing 2hrs before mass. Heavy thunder and rain. But everything cleared just before the mass. Nothing can separate me from the love of Christ. The 2nd reading was appropriate from St. Paul. And there was the largest crowd I'd ever seen though coming from a populous country. Young pilgrims from across the globe, full of life and energy, praising and singing on the streets, parks. Tired and exhausted. The proof is my Smartphone telling me I've walked 12 miles (24,300 steps) today. Fr. Sunil Pereira and WYD Pilgrims
