3 My dear Parishioners, It is my joy to announce to you that this First Sunday of Advent our Blessed Sacrament Chapel will be open 24 hours every day for our Parish Eucharistic Adoration starting from Monday 8:00 a.m. to Saturday morning before the 7:30 a.m. Mass. I consider this Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration as true blessing to our parish community, to every individual member of our church, and to all the people of the world. As individuals commit to spend an hour with the Lord who is truly present in Blessed Sacrament, we are assured then that every hour of the day there is someone or two praying for all of us, and for every children to assure us of His loving presence in our midst, body, soul and divinity. I want to take this opportunity to thank the Divine Mercy Ministry, under the spiritual guidance of Fr. Adrian, who did all the hard work in the preparation stages and putting together all that is needed to make the Eucharistic Adoration Devotion a reality here in our parish. I also want to thank, on behalf of our community, the Filipino Catholic Community Group in honor of the Gedang family for their donation to purchase the new Monstrance and the beautiful stand to hold the Blessed Sacrament for the Eucharistic Adoration. Once again, thank you very much to those ministries mentioned above for your love, support and your generosity. I am also very grateful for the beautiful handiwork done by Deacon Melecio to create such a magnificent stand for the new Monstrance. Last but not the least, I want to thank Beth Coronel for making the beautiful veil to be used for the reposition of the Blessed Sacrament in the Monstrance. God has given us many gifts but most of all He gave us the gifts of human reason and logic and He wants to see us develop them well. He loves watching us apply clear thinking to all aspects of our lives: our families, our work, even our faith. truths He has revealed to us and applying them to our own philosophy of life and to the decisions we face every day. Yet even as God wants us to use our reasoning skills, He also knows that logic alone can be quite limiting. God knows that it defies human logic to believe that simple bread and wine can be transformed into the body and blood of Christ. He knows that it is illogical to hold that the consecrated host remains forever transformed into Christ, even if it is sitting unattended in a tabernacle or is placed in a monstrance for adoration. It is in cases like these that God asks us to submit our logic, as good as it is, to the revealed truths of faith. We want to ask Him to fill us with the blessings, the joy, and the grace that are waiting for us as we spend time with Jesus in Eucharistic Adoration. Around the year 700, there was a priest in Lanciano, Italy, who was struggling with his faith in the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist. One morning, while celebrating Mass, he was astonished to see the host changed into real flesh and the wine into real blood. His initial shock gave way to joy as he investigation, scientists have concluded that the flesh and blood actually do belong to the human species. More specifically, the flesh consists of myocardial tissue (the muscular tissue of the heart wall), and the blood contains just the right proteins in the same proportions as normal human blood. Even though this miracle occurred thirteen centuries ago, both the flesh and blood remain intact and are on display in the Church of St. Francis in Lanciano. I was privileged to see it for the first time in October 1987 and went back two more times after 1987 to visit the place with pilgrim people. It was an awesome experience indeed for me to behold the miracle of the Eucharist and it has been an inspiration for me ever since to really pronounce the words of consecration every time I celebrate the Mass with profound devotion believing that the Eucharist is truly the body and blood of Christ given to us to receive. Sometimes God gives us miracles like that to help strengthen our faith in His promises. When He walked among us, Jesus said that He would give us His flesh to eat and His blood to and drank His blood would have eternal life. So this miracle in Lanciano and others like them exist to spur us on and to help convince us that the Eucharist really is Jesus feeding us and helping us to live holy and pleasing lives. It really is Jesus strengthening us and renewing us in His love, His joy, and His peace. It really is Jesus empowering us to bear fruit for Him. We need to keep praying for those who have lost their lives and their homes and livelihoods, and for all the men and women fighting the fires. Earlier this year, a special fund was created to provide support during the Thomas Fire. This fund has now been expanded to include those affected by the recent fires in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. The Archdiocese of Los Angeles is providing support to the communities affected by the fires through Catholic Charities of Los Angeles and our local parishes and schools. The Santa visit parents can let their guard down. Santa and his helpers are usually volunteers and may not have gone through screenings or tests to ensure your on anything happening while your child visits with Santa.
