2 Dear Parishioners, As we begin 2018, we wish to thank you for your generosity to Holy Name of Jesus Parish, as well as its priests and deacon, through your Christmas donations and personal gifts. We are grateful to the ladies of the Altar Guild, our Adult and Children s Choirs and their Musical Directors, Dennis Adinolfi and Kathleen McEntee, to our Cantor Angela DeRaffele, our Ushers, our Altar Servers, our Lectors and Eucharistic Ministers, our Religious Education Program, Jim Bauer for giving his time and know how in setting up our outdoor manger, those involved in outreach ministries and all those who volunteer for various projects that help keep our parish vibrant. CATHOLIC TEACHERS IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS The Archdiocesan Catechetical Office is sponsoring an Annual Retreat Day for Catholic Teachers in Public Schools on Saturday, February 3 rd, from 9AM to 1:30PM at the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers, 55 Ryder Road, Ossining, NY, $25 per person and checks are to be made payable to the Catechetical Office and mailed to 56 Dunston Avenue, Yonkers, NY before January 20 th. There will be a Conference-Holy Hour and Liturgy-Refreshments and Lunch will be served. For more information call CREMATION Cremation is permitted by the Catholic Church, and Catholics are reminded that the cremains (ashes) are to be treated with respect and dignity. Cremains should be buried or interred as soon as possible after a Funeral Mass. Cremains should never be displayed or stored in an urn at home or sprinkled over land or water, nor may they be divided among family members and friends. Just as the body is reverently buried, so too should cremains be buried reverently with prayer. MARK YOUR CALENDARS! We offer spots in PK (UPK and Full-day or Half-day PK) as well as grades K-8. We have early drop off and after school programs. Scholarships are available. You may also call for an appointment at any time. Visit our website for information and follow the link to apply: FEAST OF ST. BLAISE The Feast of St. Blaise will be celebrated on. Saturday, February 3 rd. It is believed that through the intercession of St. Blaise, throat diseases may be prevented or cured. The Blessing of Throats will take place at the 8:30AM Mass and the 5PM Mass. HOSPITAL AND HOMEBOUND VISITS Please call the rectory ( ) if you know of someone who is hospitalized, in a health care center or is homebound. If you know of someone who would like to be visited or brought Communion, Father Francis is available to visit them. MEALS ON WHEELS Meals on Wheels always welcomes new volunteer drivers to deliver meals to our elderly homebound in New Rochelle who have no way of getting a daily hot meal without this service. Just pick a convenient day (volunteers usually deliver one day a week Monday thru Friday or the weekend) and delivery takes one hour. Volunteers meet at Montefiore/Sound Shore at 11AM.
