1 A PAST PROGRAM REVIEW WITH THANKS Many, many thanks to the public and chapter membership, and especially to all who helped to make the December 29 Christmas at the Organ a roaring success. People began arriving at 6:00 p.m. to assure parking and a seat. As the program started at 7:00 that Friday night, few seats were to be found in the first floor sanctuary of Covenant United Methodist Church. About a dozen seats were available in the upstairs gallery as the organ s pipes sang out the strains of Hark! the Herald Angels Sing. The awesome crowd was estimated to be in the range of 325 people. The 250 available programs were taken by 6:45 p.m. Our players loved playing that mighty Casavant, and the crowd sang with such lustigkeit that it made for yet again, a musically gratifying ending to our calendar year. Hearty thanks to Peter, Mark, Terry, Carl, Glenn, Pat, Rachel, Karl, and Frank for all your interesting arrangements and congregational accompaniments. We all know there is nothing simple about making that happen on a strange organ this time of year. Special thanks to Glenn for your improv and bass and soprano descants on the Huron Carol next time we'll print them so we all get it right! Each concert presents itself as a learning experience. Thank you, thank you to Karl for the thorough program notes! To chapter dean Mark: thanks so much for your good audience leadership; and super thanks to the usher team of Greg, Ash, Scott, and David who went miles of extra miles to find chairs and hymnals for that amazing overflowing crowd. 1

2 Thank you, too, to Earle Cornelius of LNP for a great article; to Rob for the photograph used in the Engle papers publicity does certainly help to build a crowd. Margaret deserves thanks beyond all for organizing and thinking of everything imaginable that needed to be done, and for seeing that every last detail was addressed, people in place, lights on, programs out, etc. On top of it all on that grand evening, the free-will offering amount will cap off scholarship and other accounts quite nicely. This event is here to stay! Dean Mark Herr has declared Friday evening, December 28, 2018 as the next Christmas at the Organ event date location to come. Keep some of your favorite Christmas pieces in mind for next year's program. It's not too early to volunteer! Thank you all again, and a lovely, healthy, and prosperous new year to you all! Soli Deo Gloria! EDITOR, as contributed by an Executive Board 0ii UPCOMING CHAPTER EVENTS JANUARY JUMPSTART Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Following on the heels of our Christmas at the Organ program comes January Jumpstart on Saturday, January 13.
