Pre-registration is necessary and is open now, through January 12; register at: Location: Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church 625 Montgomery Avenue Bryn Mawr, PA For the last number of years, our Lancaster chapter has joined other local and Delaware Valley AGO chapters at an annual time of learning, inspiration, eating and socializing. Through the host Philadelphia AGO chapter, this all takes place in the atmosphere of the beautiful facility of Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church. Last year, our attendance was considerably less than in previous years. Hopefully, 2019 will prove to be a year of renewed interest in attending this great event and a great way to start off the new year of music making. This event has been on my calendar! I will be driving and am able to accommodate three others who would be interested in carpooling. me if you're interested in one of those three seats! If other attending members are interested in driving and will have seats available for others, let me know that also, and the information will be posted to our membership. One thing that was missing at last year s event was a time of worship in the sanctuary. 3 UPCOMING CHAPTER EVENTS CHRISTMAS AT THE ORGAN Carol Sing and Recital Our next chapter event will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 28. Hopefully you have received and replied to an inviting you to play. If you didn't and you haven't and you would like to play (provided program space is still available) please contact me soon. Additional selection information is available in the The Members' Bulletin Board, page 10, this issue. Please invite your family and friends to celebrate the end of the year with us at the Christmas Carol Sing and Recital, at First United Methodist Church, 29 E. Walnut St, downtown Lancaster. We'll sing carols from the Methodist hymnal and hear recital pieces and voluntaries played by Joy Ide, Mark Herr, Margaret Marsch, Karl Moyer, Ross Ellison, and Frank Dodd (as of publishing date). Invite your congregations to attend! This is a wonderful way for the chapter to share our art with the community and to present our musical gift wrap up of the Christmas season to an appreciative audience. The organist/pianist will work in conjunction with the choir director and pastor, and participate in liturgical music planning. A

The Director of Music reports directly to the Dean of the Cathedral. 00Responsibilities: select, prepare, and present appropriate liturgical and worship music (hymns, anthems, psalm settings, etc.); is also responsible for the preparation and presence of a choir for Cathedral services; develop a childrens choir; teach in St. Stephen s Episcopal School two days a week. 00Desired attributes: The DOM must have a collaborative attitude and broad vision; the ability and willingness to work with flexibility and in teams; be a teacher and producer; the ability to interact with many different communities in the diocese, including other faith traditions, the cathedral parish, and the school. 00Responsibilities: The DOM shall plan and prepare for Cathedral and Diocesan services; prepare the Cathedral Choirs; provide for the smooth operation of the Cathedral music program; beginning in August 2019 the DOM will also serve as a part time Music Instructor in St. Stephen s Episcopal School. 7 00The job requires a Bachelors degree with teaching experience preferred. A Masters degree is desirable but not required. Final candidates will be invited to an interview and audition in January Highland Presbyterian Church, Lancaster, PA Part-time Skilled Organist/ Choral Accompanist to join our music and worship team at our weekly Traditional service, and special musical presentations throughout the liturgical year. We have musically appreciative congregation, a talented choir, and a fine organ. This is a 10 hour per week position and reports to the Director of Music. Saint James Episcopal Church, Downingtown, PA Part-time (approximately 12 hrs/week) Organist and Choir Director thoroughly versed in Episcopal liturgy and the Anglican music repertoire who will sustain and develop a strong musical offering within an active and large pastoral-sized parish, which offers three Sunday services during the programmatic year. The Traditional Rite II Eucharistic service requires the successful candidate to oversee a 12-member adult choir, and who the ability to re-build a periodic chorister program for youth. The successful candidate will also be able to offer periodic blended services with a 7-member light-rock/classic-rock worship band which performs at 9:00 a.m. The organ is an Allen Two Manual Digital Computer Organ with AGO specifications; 35 rank, 52 stop organ plus 11 second

8 voice ranks; full moving stop piston capture system w/multiple memories; full MIDI w/100 voice MIDI sound module and record and playback sequencer. We seek applicants with demonstrated ability to conduct volunteer singers and to oversee once-a-week evening rehearsals (presently Thursdays) and shortened Sundaymorning rehearsals at 10:30 a.m., as well as lead and incorporate periodic instrumentalists and congregants in the services. The Jingle BELL Ring Saturday, December 15, 11:15 a.m. 1:45 p.m. Handbell Ringers Massed Ringing Event: The Jingle BELL Ring sponsored by the Central PA Handbell Festival. Handbell musicians ring holiday favorites for the general public during the festive Visit with Santa event hosted by Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square and Lancaster County Convention Center, 25 S. Queen St., Lancaster, PA. Bell ringing will occur 11:15 a.m. 11:45 a.m. and then again at 1:00 p.m. 1:30 p.m. There is no admission charged to hear the bells play but nonperishable food items will be collected at the event and donated to Autumn s Food Pantry at the Emerald Foundation. The food pantry needs healthy breakfast cereals and oatmeal, canned veggies and fruits, spaghetti and sauce, Hamburger Helper type boxes (Chicken and Tuna Helper), canned tuna and chicken, unisex personal care items, canned milk, canned soups, and dried soups.
