1 June 2013 I want to take this opportunity to sincerely thank the congregation of Oakdale Baptist Church for the outpouring of kindness you have shown my family and me since you called us to your church in April. The five of us cannot express how excited our family is to join Oakdale Baptist Church! We have prayed for a long time for the Lord to send us to an enthusiastic, praying, and loving church family: your goodness has proven that He has answered our prayers in a mighty way! Kara, the kids, and I are so grateful: GRADUATE RECOGNITION SUNDAY JUNE 9TH 11:00 AM SERVICE Josh Calhoun-SWE Brandon Mullins-ECU Danielle Lewis Coley-ECC Nikki Mullins-Edge. Early College Dawson Gould-SWE Collin Rhodes-Edge. Early College Miranda Griffin-SWE Taylor Rhodes-SWE Molly Haviland-SWE Scott Marks-NNHS Shelby Webb-Rky. Mt. Prep Ashton William-SWE *for the prayers that have been offered on our behalf; *for your encouraging cards, s, texts, and phone calls during the weeks we ve been packing and preparing for the move; *for those individuals who have made so many offers to help with our transition into the community, our rental house, and the church office. Once again, we want to especially than the Search Team with whom we have worked so closely in recent months. Jeff, Heather, Linda, Mack, and Kelly-along with their families-have blessed us more than they know by the Godly way they represented your church, and how considerately they have treated us during the time we have known them. They are a fine example for other Search Teams in other churches. I have no doubt that great and wonderful things lie on the horizon for this congregation of Jesus-loving believers. What a blessing to be a part of the excitement! I consider it a privilege and an honor to be called your pastor, and I look forward to each day ahead that I have with you To God Be the Glory-Great Things He Has Done! Pastor Tim JUNE 16 VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL JUNE Honour thy father...as the Lord thy God hath commanded thee Deuteronomy 5:16 STUDENT CAMP at The Crossing JUNE Our mission is to KNOW Jesus, SERVE Jesus, and SHARE Jesus.
2 "'For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future'." Jeremiah 29:11 This is one of my favorite verses in the Bible. It tells us that although we do not always know what lies ahead, God does! And it is part of His plan. What a comforting and awesome thought that He has plans for us! Keep praying, as we keep praying for you. Always know that the Student Ministry team is available whenever you need us! Upcoming Events: Camp Time!!!!! This year our camp week at The Crossings is June 20 - Jun 24. Ongoing Events: Sunday school and Opening am in the Student Worship Center every Sunday morning Wednesday Night Student 7pm in the Student Worship Center We now have a total of 30 campers signed up for camp. We are so excited. We are asking our church family for donations for snacks for the children during our week at camp. We would like to take enough snack for the 5 days we will be gone, so if you would like to help with this, please donate snacks and/or drinks (juice bags/boxes; water bottles; soft drink cans, etc.) of any kind, please bring it to a member of the ministry team. We are asking for all donations to be turned in by Sunday, July 14 th. Don t miss out on your chance to win the beautiful hand made quilt up for silent auction in the foyer at church. Bids taken thru June 2 nd and the winner will be notified. Thank you for your prayers and support. 3 Oakdale, Thank you for all your thoughts, prayers, and the food you brought during a difficult time for our family. Love, Jay, Angela, Collin & Abby Spain ***************************************************** Oakdale Family, Thank you for the visits, telephone calls, food, and prayers. It was appreciated very much! Please continue to keep us in your prayers. James & Peggy Johnson The regular church conference was held on 5/7/13. Items presented were reports from various committees, ministry teams and deacons. The minutes are always in the church office for review. Some of the items of business were as follows: Deacons appointed a starting nominating committee for the upcoming church year. They are Susie Webb, Joy Eatmon and Elton Pridgen. These three will present the remaining four members to the congregation for approval. A report from the Pastor Search Team was given and is attached to the minutes. We are so excited to welcome the Barnette family to lead us and part of their move was accomplished on Monday, May 20th as Pastor Tim brought his library and some household items to their new home. On a personal note...i want to let our Active Deacon Board know how much I appreciate their leadership through this time of transition. Aaron, you have done well in keeping us strong and encouraged. We are blessed to have you and your family at Oakdale. Phil Wood is also faithful in many areas, keeping the church facility in running order. I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to our faithful Treasurer, Ann Rhodes. Also, to those of you who spent untold hours deep cleaning and painting our facility, thank you, thank you, thank you! 5 Honduras Mission Team Update A special thank you to everyone who joined us for the Thanksgiving in May dinner on Sunday, May 19 th. We couldn t have done it without all of you and especially all those who volunteered to help us and brought desserts. It was truly a team effort that made it successful. The team will now focus on the last minute preparations before we leave in August. As you saw from the photos that were shared on Sunday, May 19, God truly has a mission for us as we construct a home for the family Selected. Please continue to pray for us as we will also have the opportunity to share with approximately 100 children at the local church. Our funds are due on May 26 th so we can submit all payments to the NCBM by June 2 nd. NEXT TEAM MEETING JUNE 9 TH AT 8:30 AM ATTENDANCE IS IMPORTANT Your Honduras Mission Team If there are any office supplies you need, please check with the office first. I hope to see each of you return to the team for Relay for Life 2014!! I would also like to thank everyone that lent a helping hand, and those that came out to support us, you are the back bone to our team. To keep the spirit of Relay going, and to spread God s love, Oakdale s Relay team is still collecting words of encouragement for people in our church and community who are currently battling cancer. We will continue to put goodie bags together as we receive items. 7 MISSIONS UPDATE Local, National and International WMU NEWS StraightWay T-Ball Our Frazzled Female Bible Study is going strong. We have 13 women working hard to de-stress their life by going into God s Word. Our next meeting is June 27th. On June 29th, we will be having our next Ladies Night Out at the church. We ll be painting on canvas. Look for more details in your bulletin. Please be in prayer for our Missions team as they prepare to be missionaries in Honduras. Also, be in prayer for WMU as we celebrate 125 years of Missions. May the story live on! Let others see Jesus in you. Keep living the story, be faithful, and true. Let others see Jesus in you. Another season of T-Ball is over. This was our 12th year. We had a low number of participants this year but still had a good time. There were only 43 players this year. We divided them into 4 teams and named them Team Matthew, Team Mark, Team Luke, and Team John. We taught them about the four gospels. Awards day went well and the gospel was presented again. Thanks to the coaches for your dedication and leadership. Thanks to Daphne Hopkins and her concessions team for the great food. We appreciate our church family for supporting this ministry again. Thanks for the prayers. Forty-three kids and approximately 150 adults heard the gospel. The Bible says that His word will not return unto Him void, but will accomplish that which I send it out for. T-Ball season is over but the harvest is sill here. Praise God! In Christ Aaron Rhodes In Christ, Karen Murray & Kim Wells

Remember the awesome message Daniel Palmer brought on Memorial Day. Let s love our new Pastor and his family the way he preached. This is a busy time for Oakdale. We have Youth camp, Children s camp, and Bible School coming soon. Lots of opportunity for ministry if you're not involved. Bible School and Sunday School are great areas to invite visitors. The Great Commission never ends. Jesus said, "Take up your cross and follow me", Make that one idea your life, think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let the brains, muscles, nerves, every part of your body, be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone, then glorify God. All praise, glory and honor to Jesus. Oakdale Servants
