2 The View From the East Greetings from The East Brethren, I hope that everyone has had a safe, healthy and enjoyable summer. Fall is at our door step and your Lodge will be very busy until year s end. Charity is sponsoring Bingo Night for the residents of Bonnie Blink on September 15th and we need members to be there. Past Master s Night will be on SATURDAY October 14th and we have a lot of Degree work to accomplish before the end of It sure would be nice to see the members of Charity Lodge attend the Degrees as our petitioners and new Brothers progress through them. Your support at their Degrees shows our new Brothers that they have joined not only a Fraternity that cares but also they made the correct choice in selecting Charity as their Blue Lodge. We closed our first half year with and outstanding Strawberry Night that was made very special by Ms. Mary Ann Jung who performed for us as Sally Ride after dinner. Mary Ann s performance was so convincing that many in attendance actually thought she was Dr. Sally Ride. If you did not come you missed out on a very special evening. At our Last meeting in June we Initiated 3 new Brothers Guy York, Mike Meadowcroft and Erik Beegle and they were properly welcomed into our Fraternity. We also read five new petitions. Congratulations to our Junior Warden Brother Jeff Westra who passed his 1st Degree exemplification in great form on July 5th. Brother Jeff s work was near flawless and I want to thank Past Master John Lambert who filled in as Senior Warden at the last minute. The entire officer line was commended on their work by DGL Brother Mike Smith. Brother Gordon Clisham is still looking for help to man the sausage tent at Harvest Home on October 7th. If you can help his contact information is on the Flyer in this Communication. Lastly, as we are doing our best to have a memorable 150th Anniversary Celebration for the Lodge and I want an idea of commitment from the membership. If the Lodge membership is not willing to commit I want to cancel while we still can. The targeted price for the event will be less than $40 per person. If you have a desire to Celebrate YOUR Lodge s 150th Anniversary reply to me with the number of tickets you will commit to for the event. 3 Looking to the West Greetings From the West Brethren- It s been an eventful month; we ve initiated three new brothers with five more poised for initiation. With all of this growth, it s important to remember the loss of our brother Steve Kearney. Fondly he was one of the motivating factors for me to become a mason. These men reinforce the meaning of a mentor, and friendship is easily obtained in this atmosphere. As I see these new brothers coming into the craft it increases my faith that they will experience that comradery as well. Speaking for myself, I ve made friendships and relationships that will last a life time. There truly is nothing quite like it! Fraternally yours, Jay D. (Ticket being drawn and read below) The raffle was a success profiting the Lodge $2, Thank you to all that purchased tickets in support of the Lodge and many thanks to those who sold tickets. Brother Jim Ambrose deserves the credit for the creative idea to raffle off the cooler. The committee is in the process of planning the next raffle which will probably take place next year. 12 BROTHER DONALD CURTIS 50TH Brother Donald M. Curtis is flanked by Worshipful Master Roy Neal, Senior Warden Jay Brown and Junior Warden Jeffrey Westra. He received his 50th Anniversary certificate and pin on May 24, Brother Curtis was Raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason on April 28, The awards were presented by our Grand Inspector Mike Rabb (not pictured) who had to immediately leave due to a kidney stone attack.
