LOUS, MSSOUR. Proposed Ordinance Wo vras presented and read, appropriating $115, frora the Emergency Fund for emergency sewer repairs at Grand and Penrose, and 19th and Ferry, in the City of St. Louis, Missouri. Mr. Flick distributed copies of a letter to him frora Sverdrup & Parcel dated Octotaer 30, 98O, together with drawings and memoranda (copy in Secretary-Treasurer's file) which concerned two cave-ins, one at Grand Avenue and Penrose Street and the other at 19th and Ferry Streets, all in the City of St. Louis. He said that there were cave-ins on the same sewer at these two different locations and that the one at Penrose and Grand Avenue has occurred three or four times. Because of the recurrence and the proximity totauildings, the District has engaged the services of Sverdrup & Parcel fortaoringsand soil tests in order to determine the cause and extent of the protaleras. They are raaking this study in two phases and have recommended the use of piling, taoth to protect the neartay buildings and to enable taoth further investigations to proceed and facilitate the repairs, Mr. Flick said further that he had asked for quotes from various contractors engaged in driving pilings and deterrained that the lowesttaid vras that of Fred Wetaer, nc. at $13.10 per square foot.
