1 Central Alabama Emmaus Community the 4th day newsletter August 17, 2016 A MESSAGE FROM WALK #178 LAY DIRECTOR Father God, THANK YOU for trusting me. That prayer has been on my mind and in my heart since the day I was asked to help the Holy Spirit lead this walk. My original walk was ten years ago and on Easter weekend at that. It was good, I was in a place where I wanted to grow and I understood that the Walk to Emmaus would help me do that. I learned a lot, dying moments was great and walking down the hill to lunch I couldn t help but think that on this same day over 2000 years ago, Jesus walked up a hill carrying all of the burdens that we just laid down so that He could settle our past. After the walk I was overwhelmed at the love that you, our community showed for me. It was hard to accept because for me it is easier to give than to receive, truthfully I cried most of the way home. Men s Walk #178 John Biblis Millbrook Cluster Times To Remember Wednesday 7pm Send-Off Friday 7pm Candlelight Saturday 7am Serenade Saturday 4pm Closing I never in my wildest dreams thought that I would be here today, writing this letter and about to be blessed to help lead Walk 178. I had no desire to serve in the conference room, I was happy in the background serving and sponsoring. At some point though, I realized the impact the Emmaus movement can make in peoples lives and I wanted to give more. We have all been blessed to see the changes in not only our own lives but in those of other pilgrims as well. Every time you see God stirring in someone s life through Emmaus, know that you are part of that, when we are His hands and Feet we help facilitate God s earthly works. Works that may have eternal consequences for someone. My prayers have been simply that the pilgrims, the conference room team and background team come prepared to receive what God has in store for us. That we come with pure hearts and open minds, ready to receive, ready to serve and ready to be His hands and feet. When we do this, the door is open and God will have the opportunity to do what only He can do! So pray with me that all barriers be knocked down just as the walls of Jericho came crashing down, and that together we can open the path for our pilgrim friends to be healed, to be restored and have the opportunity to settle their past. Thanks again for your support of Walk 178. 2 A MESSAGE FROM WALK #178 SPIRITUAL DIRECTOR 2016 Walk Dates As I ponder my Emmaus experience, I realize most of my God Moments have taken place at Camp Alamisco while attending a Walk to Emmaus. I recall CAEW #38 as if it was yesterday. Not knowing what to expect, I decided that nothing could kill me in a single day and if it was that bad, I would slip away during the night. I m very sure my table leader thought I was the least likely to return. Could God use someone like me? God does not always call the equipped but He is faithful to equip those that are called. God has so richly blessed my family and me through our Emmaus experience. I am so blessed with the opportunity to serve God as the Spiritual Director on Walk #178. What a joy and blessing I have received while praying for the team and these pilgrims. What a pleasure with these Spiritual Directors, as they were influential in my calling into the ministry. I challenge each of you that are part of the CAEW community to join us in praying daily for this team and pilgrims. May each of you, the Emmaus Community, Conference Room team, the background team and the pilgrims of Walk #178 enjoy God s Grace and spiritual blessings as we seek a closer relationship with our Risen Lord.
