Everyone is invited! Come to the book launch of A WAY TO BEING US A Christian Path for Unity in Diversity Written by our very own beloved Rev. Dr. Ann Hagmann SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 10 1:00-3:00 p.m. MMC at First United Methodist Church, 410 E. University, Georgetown In Ann s own words: This book was written in direct response to the division and polarization we are experiencing in our families, churches, communities, and country. Deeply grounded in the life and teachings of Jesus, the book nurtures spiritual growth and a deeper connection with God. The book develops a threefold path to provide a practical way for dealing with and responding to our disunity and diversity. Ann has also written a corresponding guidebook for group studies or deeper individual study. It will have an accompanying DVD, and will be debuted at FUMC this Fall. Your support, feedback, and spreading the word are all greatly appreciated! Books will be on sale for $10 for Black and White, and $15 for Color. (Can also be ordered on Amazon.)

2 From our Lay Director, Crystal Jackson: Hello everyone! I hope this newsletter finds you all doing well. This past month God has been doing what He does best and that is loving each and every one of us. On August 22 nd, Sarah Pyle-Shackelford gave birth to two handsome boys. This is special in their lives because not only was it the twins birthday, but also Sarah s and Janet Pyle s birthday. Three generations born on the same day. God is so awesome!!! As we all know that Hurricane Harvey has done a lot of damage for people along the coast. I have had some friends down north of Houston that their house flooded with about four feet of water and lost everything, but through all this tragedy we have to remember that God is in control and has His hand on the situation. What we can do is definitely keep everyone affected by the hurricane in our prayers. October is Women s Walk 427 and Mary Jane Berry is the Lay Director. A lot of time and prayer has been invested in this Walk and it will be the best Walk ever! Currently there are 33 Pilgrims registered. There are several Georgetown Emmaus Community members serving on this Walk. I ask that you keep them in your prayers asking God to do His will and not ours. DeColores! Crystal Jackson From our Board Rep, Anne Castle: Women s Walk 429 now has 33 Pilgrims. Mary Jane Berry is the Lay Director and we have many of our Community members on the team. Candlelight will be on Saturday, October 14, at Greene Family Camp. Please get a group up and come up to the camp and support the team and the Pilgrims. It s also a great way to re-live your own candlelight experience! Also, Team Selection for Men s Walk 429 for February 2018 is completed. We need to get Pilgrims. They have one Pilgrim. From our Agape Chairs, Terry and Polly: The agape workshop was great!!! Thank you to all who participated. We had a great time and some great ice cream and goodies. Make plans to attend this wonderful spiritual event and re-live your own experience as a Pilgrim during Candlelight!!!
