Christ is Risen! The Lord is Risen indeed. Alleluia! During Easter, the Book of Common Prayer states that the Confession of Sin may be omitted during the season of Easter. After all, we have repented enough during the 40 days of Lent! I feel I must make a confession to you though. Sometimes I stand in the kitchen with the pantry door open and eat chocolate chips out of the bag. And then the bag is not a whole bag so it cannot be used to make a whole batch of cookies, so the household now needs to eat the whole bag a handful at the time. In other words, the Easter candy is gone. We did indeed have an incredible Holy Week and Easter Day celebration at Nativity. You might say I had a hangover of joy on Monday morning. Even though the scent of the lilies still makes its way to my office from the church, the thoughts of Easter fade away as quickly as we consume the candy. We must be reminded though that Easter is not a day, it is a season of 50 days until the feast of Pentecost on May 19th. Yes, the Resurrection of Jesus is a one-time event. But the joy continues as we daily experience the resurrecting power of God. Daily God gives us new life and abundant second chances. We are constantly being renewed and redeemed, letting old things pass away so that new opportunities may arise. So how about we promise each other that we will simply celebrate the joy of Easter for 50 days? Why not? We have more than enough to celebrate. I think we can do it. But just like the season of Lent, we cannot do it alone. We will be tempted to come down from our Easter high. We will need each other for support and encouragement, but I know we can do it. And when we forget, let's remind each other of our great Resurrection Celebration on Easter Day with so many children and babies, all of whom were so well-behaved! I am so impressed. It was lovely to see so many families with three generations present as well. Thank you to Hank and our choir and musicians, the altar guild, ushers, acolytes and folks who came out on Saturday to clean the church and set up the candles and flowers. It was a special celebration for me and my family that I will not soon forget. And what a feast we had in Hart Hall as well with tastes from the Caribbean and Guyana. Thanks to the Dowdings and all who brought goodies! In the meantime, Forward Movement, the folks who publish Forward Day by Day, have started 50 days of Fabulous. This is a daily online meditation to help us all celebrate Easter the whole season long. Check it out. In the Joy of the Risen Christ, Stewart+ stewart@nativitycedarcroft.org

3 Deacon Doodle By The Rev. Linda Hollis How would you like to be Eastered? They cut me down and I leapt up high I am the Life that ll never, never die! I ll live in you if you ll live in Me I am the Lord of the Dance, said He! As an Eastered person, life is possibilities rather than impossibilities. CALENDAR April & May April 7 - Sunday - Bring food for CARES Pantry April 16 - Tuesday - Vestry Meeting April 21 Sunday - Breakfast at Nativity, hosted by Don Hoatson and Craig Hart May Diocesan Convention May 5 - Sunday - Annual Meeting Sunday May 9 - Thursday Ascension Day May 12 - Sunday Mother s Day May 19 - Sunday - Day of Pentecost For God is light and in Him there is not darkness at all, 1 John 1:5b As an Eastered Person I seek an Eastered Community where forgiveness is possible for everyone; friendship is possible with everyone; and relationships form with people who disagree. Outside my Eastered Community as an Eastered person, I hope for enough empathy and energy to help those that live on the edges of life. And as an Eastered person I hope to seek and find the face of Jesus in all the people I meet along my journey. But as an Eastered person I need my Eastered Community for nurture and renewal to go back out each week to help Easter the world. BECAUSE You changed wild lament into whirling dance; you ripped off my black mourning band and decked me with wild flowers.god, my God, I can t thank you enough. (Psalm 30: 11-12) Dance then, wherever you may be I am the Lord of the Dance, said He! And I ll lead you all, where you may be And I ll lead you all in the Dance, said He! NATIVITY BOOK CLUB The next meeting will be Sunday April 14 in the Upper Room at 2:00 p.m. The book will be Behind the Beautiful Forevers : Life, Death and Hope in a Mumbai Undercity, by Katherine Boo. This book won the 2012 National Book Aware (Nonfiction) on November 14, The author is on the staff and the New Yorker, and has previously concentrated on low-income U. S communities. Her husband is Sunil Khilnani, who is an Indian and a professor of politics and the Director of the India Institute at King s College, London. As the author spent more and more time in India, she became interested in similar communities in India. This book tells about a place called Unawadi which is an area across from Mumbai s airport and luxury hotels. Some of India s poor have settled here. Betsy Toland will lead the discussion, and Amy Norwood will provide refreshments. The book is available at libraries and on Kindle. Please read the book and join us for the meeting. Catherine Bishop
