4 Office of the Moderator September 4, 2015 Dear Berean District Association Family, Praise and gratitude to our Heavenly Father, His Son, Jesus, our Christ and to the Holy Spirit, our teacher and guide. I count this an awesome privilege to serve as the 17th moderator of this great association of baptized believers associated by covenant, in the faith and fellowship of the gospel. I am soliciting your prayers as we focus on what really makes us a unified body. Related, the question must be asked, "why is unity and oneness so important in the church?" It is my belief that we, as the body of Christ, are a living advertisement for the Lord Jesus. When the world sees the people of God, they either see the presence of the Lord or the presence of strife. Where there is strife, there is confusion and God is not the author of confusion. If we desire to reach our full potential and do our very best for the Lord, it will require patience, passion and certainly perseverance. The Word of God is a compass that keeps us headed in the right direction - even in the midst of confusing messages all around. It is my hope that as we journey on our pathway, we will be consistently filled with truth by reading, believing, meditating upon and applying Scripture to our individual lives, as well as our auxiliaries, departments and ministries of this district association. It is imperative that we guide our actions by the truth of God's Word and not allow our prejudices to become stumbling blocks to others. We want to be listed as a Christ-centered, People-friendly, and Mission-driven District Association. Finally, I am asking for you to remember me in prayer as I endure this personal health challenge in the coming days and that I will be sustained by God's grace, and that my strength and courage will not fail. In His Service, Keith Bernard Pendilton - 4 -

39 Disaster Relief Ministry The Berean Missionary Baptist District Association (BMBDA), Disaster Ministry takes its lead from the Missionary Baptist State Convention of Missouri (MBSCM) and The National Baptist Convention USA (NBCUSA) Inc. The focus of the MBCSM Disaster Ministry is on our partnership with the American Red Cross to provide facilities that can be used as shelters and people who can be shelter workers. The focus on the NBCUSA Inc. disaster Ministry is much broader. While emphasizing the need to support our Red Cross Partnership, it addresses other areas of concern as well. Based on the NBCUSA Inc. vision, we propose the following emphasis for our BMBDA Disaster Ministry: I. Prepare the people. II. III. Prepare our churches. Prepare our District. Disaster Ministry Committee: Bro Ronald Elliott, Chair God prepared Noah for the flood, Genesis, 6:14-16; likewise, the Berean Disaster Ministry is preparing the people, church and district for all Disasters New and Experienced Members are Welcome to join the Ministry
