4 Office of the Moderator October 30, 2017 Dear Berean District Association Family, Praise and gratitude to our Heavenly Father, His Son, Jesus, our Christ and to the Holy Spirit, our teacher and guide. Once more, I count this a remarkable opportunity to serve as moderator of this grand association of churches. Due to the vast amount of information required for our annual yearbook, please accept my sincere apologies for the delay in its production. It is evident that we are facing hefty challenges locally, nationally and internationally. We are living in a time whereas we have law enforcement, and the like, who hide behind their barges, badges and bullets and exploit black men for target practice. Further, we have a judicial system that marches to a heartrending and heartbreaking cadence of injustice. Meanwhile, we have witnessed the winds and the waves that have contributed to major destruction in several states within our country. Brothers and sisters, these are critical times we are living in. I invite you to prayerfully reflect on this year's theme "Oneness in Prayer." Biblical study teaches us that our praying is to be effectual and fervent. These two words are the translation of a word that means to display one's activity and to put forth power. Simply stated, we are to pray in faith and then put legs on our prayers for God's glory. We should ask and thank Him for the answer that is coming, and then get up and live as though the prayer has already been answered. Our task is challenging, but with your unrelenting support of our district association and its auxiliaries, we will continue to overcome barriers and cross boundaries for generations to come. 28 YOUNG PEOPLE'S DEPARTMENT Explanation of Moneys REPRESENTATION- $ per Church paid in July. PRO- RATA- $ per Quarter per Church- used for the general expenses and operation of the department. FOREIGN MISSION/HOME MISSION to the Boards. TEA RECEIPTS are divided. Part of it is used to help with the department's general expenses and the rest goes to the State ALL DISTRICTS TEA. DOROTHY LEE FUND is used to help send a young person (Officer) to the Regional Youth Conference from the State YPD. LIFE MEMBER PROJECT money is used for something that will be beneficial to the campers and the college. STATE MISSION is used for WESTERN BAPTIST BIBLE COLLEGE YOUNG PEOPLE'S PLEDGE PLEDGE'S Realizing that in the Lord Jesus Christ, I live and move and have my being, I promised Him that I would strive to do whatever He would have me to do. I will take the Bible as my guide and will aid my church in its work and worship. I will have grace at each meal in my home and strive to have daily family worship. I will endeavor to be present at the meetings of the society and will try to enlist others in His service. I will give as I can for the spread of His Kingdom. 36 Disaster Relief Ministry The Berean Missionary Baptist District Association (BMBDA), Disaster Ministry takes its lead from the Missionary Baptist State Convention of Missouri (MBSCM) and The National Baptist Convention USA (NBCUSA) Inc. The focus of the MBCSM Disaster Ministry is on our partnership with the American Red Cross to provide facilities that can be used as shelters and people who can be shelter workers. The focus on the NBCUSA Inc. disaster Ministry is much broader. While emphasizing the need to support our Red Cross Partnership, it addresses other areas of concern as well. Based on the NBCUSA Inc. vision, we propose the following emphasis for our BMBDA Disaster Ministry: I. Prepare the people. II. III. Prepare our churches. Prepare our District.
