The students and parent alike will leave there comfort zone and will make adjustments to find their new life style. I know everything changes when the kids go back to school. I know it s always a big adjustment at our house, but like I always say it s ALL GOOD. Please remember there will be NO BINGO Monday Sept 5 th, and all member s are welcome to the meetings on Sept 7 th & 8 th. Try to get involved. On Sept.10 th Bishop Cistone will sponsor a Major Degree at the Saginaw Diocese Center. The Bishop is trying to help recruit new members to join the Knight of Columbus. He is so grateful for all the support the Church has received over the years, and with the new Missals that will have changes in the Mass that begin the 1 st Sunday of Advent. Registration starts at 9:00 am and the 1 st degree will begin at 10:00 am, with the Major to follow. If you would like to join us please let me know. We need a head count by Sept 7 th, so if you plan to attend as a candidate or just a spectator you must sign up to go. My phone # The Bishop would like to fill the Center. Let s see how many new & current members we get to Saginaw Degree. On Sept 11 th we will having a Corp. Communion at the 9:00 am Mass. Please try to attend and support your brother Knights, and the breakfast after Mass which supports Vocations. There is a couple events this month at the hall that the Knights are catering. The Watrousville Historical Society on Tuesday Sept 13 th, and the Right to Life on Sept 27 th. Please call if you are able to help; or It s that time of year again to start baking Pumpkin Pie s. October 4 th -8 th will be the time period. Oct 4 th the hall has to be set up. Then on Wednesday, Oct 5 th, we start baking. We always need lots & lots of help. Please donate some of your time to help out the community. On Oct 22 nd there will be a 4 th Degree Exemplify in Big Rapids MI. Please let George Mika or I know if you would like to join the 4 th Degree. The TACA Fall Show will be here before you know it. I was told the play is going to be The Sound of Music. It should be a good show. Try to keep your schedule open to help your brother Knights. BINGO We still need help when we start selling cards at 5:30. We sure could use some new members to step up and help instead of burning out the same people. If you could find the time we really appreciate it. 2 Knight of the Month August 2011 The Knight of the Month for August is Robert De Lorenzo. Bob is very active at church as a usher, and at the hall he s doing a great job as the Business agent. Bob has been very active since he became a member. Bob your doing a great job. Thanks for all you do. Family of the Month August 2011 The Family of the Month for August is the Peter Sayers Family. Pete and Norma are very active at church as ministers of the Eucharist, and help out with different events at Sacred Heart. At the hall Pete was on the building association and a Bingo Chairman. The Sayers always help when they are asked. Thanks for all you do. K/C Woman s Auxiliary The next meeting of the Women's Auxiliary will be Sept 15 th. PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS Heavenly Father, bless Your Church with an abundance of holy and zealous priests, deacons, brothers and sisters Give those You have called to the married state and those You have chosen to live as single persons in the world the special graces that their lives require. Form us all in the likeness of Your Son so that in Him, with Him and through Him we may love You more deeply and serve You more faithfully, always and everywhere. With Mary we ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen. General Information (Membership Rentals) Any member of this council renting the premises or facilities for their use or for a member of their immediate family (self, spouse, parent, and current or former tax-dependent child), shall receive a discount from the basic rental fee established by the Board of Directors. COUNCIL HISTORY THE PAUL LAETHEM / STORY A name that many of you may not recognize, because it has been many years since he was a part of our council turn around. He was one of those members that was here at the start, who gave us the encouragement to take the chance to move ahead. Money was none existence, spirits were high and we can remember his words of encouragement to make the change, with just four thousand dollars in the bank and the old red schoolhouse for collateral we went ahead. Remember this council was started in 1949 and meetings were held at the Sacred Heart Rectory with many of the old timers on hand, today they maybe mostly gone, but their spirit lives on. Paul became a member in May of 1964 with the first group of the second wave of new ideas. Paul and his brother Francis gave us a new light for the future. The Knights of Columbus in Caro did not have an exceptionally good name as many of the councils threw out the State, were known for their card playing and good time bunch of boys. Now don t take me wrong they did accomplish many charitable acts and much more for their church and community. Paul was a member of our first Building Association he was appointed by Past Grand Knight John Foley in the early 1970 s. Many of you members may not know Paul; he is the uncle of Mark and Mike Laethem who you may be familiar with. Paul and Francis were partners in the Laethem Equipment business that they took over from their dad in Fairgrove and Caro. It was after some years the Laethem brothers split and went their own way. Paul and his family went to St. Louis Michigan and Francis and his family stayed in Caro and Fairgrove. Paul is still a member of Caro Council, but has retired to Gladwin, Michigan. We remember trips to Mackinaw Island for the State Convention and other outings over the years. We also remember the time when the councils of Saginaw Diocese bailed Caro Council out when we did not have enough money to pay our Boysville quota, which was only a balance of not even One Hundred dollars. School will be starting soon marking the official end of summer and beginning of fall. Just a reminder that the fall exemplification will be October 22, 2011 in Big Rapids, Michigan. Please contact the Faithful Navigator if you have a candidate to present. Deadline is October 01, Faithful Comptroller reports there are still 6 Sir Knights that have not paid dues for this year. Please take care of this business to avoid further notifications. District Meeting will begin at 9AM, September 03, 2011 at Sacred Heart in Mount Pleasant. Father Hennepin Provincial Meeting will take place September 30 through October 02, Meeting place will be the Best Western Sterling Inn in Sterling Heights, MI.
