5 June First Sunday Mission Offering Our First Sunday Mission Offering in June goes to Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, the emergency relief program of the PCUSA. We never know when or where a disaster may strike. But thanks to your gi s, Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) is ready and able to respond. In the last few months alone, PDA has offered assistance and support to the survivors of the mudslide in Washington State, tornadoes in the South and Midwest, and the recent mass shoo ng in California. Working with Presbyteries, other church denomina ons, mission partners, and relief organiza ons, PDA helps provide physical aid such as food and shelter, as well as spiritual support. We can help put Christ s love into ac on by making a dona on. Simply mark your envelope Presbyterian Disaster Assistance or write a check with Presbyterian Disaster Assistance on the memo line. Thank you! July First Sunday Mission Offering Our First Sunday Mission Offering in July goes to the McKee Memorial Fund. In recent years, money from this fund has been used to help support the work of Dr. Martha Sommers, who serves as the only long-term doctor at the Embangweni Hospital in Malawi. This year, Dr. Sommers is on leave, updating her medical skills while working in a U.S. hospital. Since she does not need financial support during this time, we are supporting the work of PCUSA mission co-workers Tim and Rachel Stone who are also in Malawi. Although Malawi is the size of Pennsylvania, it has more Presbyterians than the entire U.S. Rapid church growth has led to a severe clergy shortage. Currently, there is only one trained pastor for every 5,000 church members. Tim is an Old Testament and Hebrew professor at Zomba Theological College, where he is helping to educate the next generation of pastors and teachers. His wife, Rachel, is a global health advocate and educator. They have two young sons. To help support their work, simply use the envelope marked McKee Memorial in the July section of your envelope booklet or use a First Sunday Mission Offering envelope from the pew racks. Please continue to pray for the people of Malawi, Tim and Rachel Stone and their family, and Martha. Thank You Teachers! Our children and youth were so blessed to have such wonderful teachers and leaders this year. Thank you to Deanna Golden, Dawn Grossman, Lori Haughey, Elizabeth and Abigail Haughey, Denise Hawks, Andrew Hazlett, Anzie Kelley, Janice King, Lori Love-Franke, Allison Martin, Susan Moon, Susan Race, Esther Radvinski, Melinda Ripper, Stephanie Slezak, and Bob and Melinda Stevens for sharing your faith and love. Your dedication is truly appreciated! Swing Into Summer Thank You A huge thank you to everyone who helped make Swing Into Summer such a success. The weather was perfect, the music was great, the food was yummy, and the fellowship was wonderful! So many people helped in so many ways. Thanks to everyone who put up flyers and yard signs, invited friends, helped with games, served food, pitched in for the set-up and clean-up, and came. Many hours of planning and organizing goes into such an event. Special thanks to Dawn Grossman, Janice King, Jon McKay, and John Ripper for all they did behind the scenes in the months leading up to June 1st. You all did an amazing job.
