Peace Camp is a fun, free, exciting alternative to Summer Day Camp running July 10th through 14 th from 9:AM to 12:15PM School-age children (entering Kindergarten through 6 th grade in the fall) take on different games, crafts, and projects that celebrate diversity and focus on what peace is, why peace is needed, and how to become a Peacemaker. Our hope is each child will come away at the end of Peace Camp realizing we are all special and need friends, and feeling empowered to take a stand as a Peacemaker! Helpers are still welcome. She recently celebrated 70 years of marriage to her husband, Les, and is the mother of five children - Lloyd, Susanne, Bill, Brian, and Bob. By profession of faith, transfer, or baptism, four new members joined our growing last month. Take a moment to say hello and welcome them to the church! On my grave marker, I would like it to say: Feathers, Petals, Fins & Fur. God Blessed me. I love animals and plants. I should have been Mrs. Noah so I could have cared for two of everything. 3 Page Money Matter$ I can now report the numbers that are contained in the financial reports for the first five months of 2017 year-to-date. All income categories combined totaled $122,015 and, individually, most categories exceeded the budgeted amounts. When compared to the same month one year ago, total income increased by $86 or 0.1%. Total expenses of $127,792 were $968 below the amount budgeted for the first five months of Included in total expenses paid was $11,611 in conference tithing, which represents five-twelfths of the total due for Total expenses exceeded Total Income by $5,778. For the first five months, Pledged and Unpledged Income totals for the two categories combined were $8,783 more than the corresponding budgeted amounts. That result continues to be encouraging. Of course, we still need further additional giving to fully close the deficit in this year s budget. Let s keep praying! The United Methodist Women of Merced will grant scholarship money totaling $1,000 per school year to one or more chosen applicants. Each applicant is to be a woman who, after a lapse of time from graduating high school or attending college, is now ready to begin or return to college. Applicants must take at least six units per semester and be a member of the United Methodist Church of Merced. Complete guideline and application forms are available in the church office.
