(TY) Deadline for Pilgrim Applications for the Women is the April 6, Please get those applications in! One of my favorite verses is Isaiah 6:8 And I heard the voice of the Lord, saying Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then I said Here I am, send me! This verse is both encouraging and scary. What if God is asking you to go to Iran, Afghanistan or some other dangerous place? I think He is also asking us to serve Him where we are needed. Recently I sent out a call-to-duty letter stating that we needed teamers and pilgrims. Maybe like some of you, I was concerned and even thought a walk might not even happen. However, the Community heard God s voice to team and sponsor pilgrims. For that, we want to thank you for being responsive to God s call. Why do we ever doubt that God is always in total control and knows what is best? God will use us for His purposes if we are willing to answer His call. I want to encourage every community member to attend the many events during the Walks. Remember the excitement you experienced on your Walk when you saw the beautiful faces of the community. 2 Page 2 A Message From Our Spiritual Director Were not our hearts burning within us while he was talking to us on the road? Luke 24:32 As we prepare for our Easter celebrations this month, sandwiched between the Men s and Women s walks, let us remember that the first Emmaus experience was a resurrection experience. Jesus appearance to the two walkers to Emmaus occurred on the evening of the day of resurrection. You all know the story: two travelers to Emmaus were discussing what had happened in Jerusalem the past few days, and were entertaining claims that Christ had risen! A stranger joined them, and explained to them all of the Hebrew Scriptures that were fulfilled in Jesus of Nazareth. When they arrived at their Emmaus home, they invited the stranger to stay with them. As he sat at the table with them, he broke bread with them, and their eyes were opened to recognize the stranger as none other than the risen Christ! This caused them to remember the burning hearts they felt as they talked with the man on the road. What causes our hearts to burn within us as we celebrate Easter? My heart burns with excitement to think that Christ comes in to dine with all who invite Him in! The Emmaus travelers faith rested, not on an empty tomb, nor on claims of others that Christ had risen, but on the presence of the Lord sitting right there at the table with them! Empty tombs do not give us Easter faith encounters with the living Christ do! My heart burns within me also when I realize that Christ comes to the table with us every time we break bread together in Holy Communion. Our eyes are opened to recognize Jesus at the table with us. Truth is, of course, that Christ is alive forevermore, never to leave us. He is alive to walk with us and talk with and tell (us we are His) own. We have a living relationship with the living Christ that will last forever! ALLELUIA!! Go and tell others that you have seen the Lord!! De Colores! Pastor Travis DeLoach

3 Page 3 Eastern Shore Chrysalis Fly With Christ! Chrysalis is for youth years of age. If you have any youth in that age group that desires to go on a flight please contact myself or another board member. If we do not have enough youth for a flight Tidewater Chrysalis has welcomed us to join them on their flights. We do not want to miss any opportunity to bring a young person to Christ. 8 Page 8 Prayer Chain As you know, we have our spring walks coming up this month and I d like to take this opportunity to ask for your diligent prayer for these upcoming weekends. It is our hope that each pilgrim and teamer that God has called will come with an open heart and an open mind, to see how He wants to speak to and through them during these three days. He knows the needs of each and we trust that He will use this time to address whatever struggles, burden, or heartache that each man or woman may be carrying. That they leave with the understanding that they are loved by God, and community of believers in Christ and that through the sacrifice of the cross they are set free from the bondage of their sin. May each person be so touched by their time spent with God that they simply can not contain the fire and the passion that they have for Him. It is our hope that from this; they are even more so compelled to pass it on and share the good news of God s love and His amazing grace!! So again, I would ask that you join me in this prayer, and invite each of you to take part in the Emmaus Prayer Team.
