1 Pont s Ponderings Pontoppidan Lutheran Church Proclaiming the Gospel! Living in Christ! Caring for our Neighbors! I will walk in freedom, for I have devoted myself to your commandments. Psalm 119:45
2 Pastor Doug I am writing this on the day that Vacation Bible School is beginning [June 16]. Our kids are in for a great experience! Thank you Kim Stromberg and VBS volunteers! Looking down the road are opportunities for our Youth Group to attend a day at a Christian musicfest Sonshine in Wilmar, MN. And a trip to the Twin Cities for a service project and a worship service and fun in the sun at ValleyFair! Thank you Lisa Vig and Youth Group volunteers! This summer there are several opportunities for Fellowship. In this Newsletter is information for a weekend camping at Buffalo River State Park, attending with a few thousand other Lutherans a Redhawks game. Thank you JoAnne Thornton, Fellowship Director, for organizing these opportunities! The tentative date to begin installing new carpet in the sanctuary is August 18. We do not commit until all the money for the project is in hand. We are getting close! Now is the time to give to the carpet fund. Thank you to Roy Sander for overseeing this project for us as Vice President of the Congregation. On Rally Sunday we will have new green paraments! The old ones have served, lo, these past many years. They are faded and worn. The new ones will enhance our worship space. Thank you to the Women of the ELCA for making this happen! What is that saying? Life goes on. And so it does at Pontoppidan every summer. Life infused by the Spirit of God. These are just a few of the special things happening this summer, in addition to the ongoing worship services. Lord, may those who love you rise like the sun in all its power! [Judges 5:31b] Have a wonderful and blessed month of July. 2
