1 B U S I N E S S N A M E Pastor s Page Dear Friends, God is our refuge and strength, a help always near in times of great trouble. 2 That s why we won t be afraid when the world falls apart, when the mountains crumble into the center of the sea, 3 when its waters roar and rage, when the mountains shake because of its surging waves. Psalm 46: 1-3 CEB. Happy fall! As I write this, the weather has been warm, but we know that the cooler days of fall are just ahead. We have had many happenings, Kick Off Sunday on the 20th of September, Trapper Days and Blessing of the Animals"! As you know, I am just back from visiting Germany and other places in Europe. There in Europe in WWII, their world fell apart and they were in great trouble. I specifically remember the evidence of faith in the Lutheran congregation of St. Mary's in Osnabruck -- how the church was initially built in the 1100's, partially destroyed by fire in the 1600's, rebuilt, and then bombed by the allies in WWII. Pictures of the church following the bombing showed a church destroyed - along with the rest of the city. But in faith, after the war they rebuilt the church and the building looks to be substantially complete. I don't remember ever seeing such evidence of faith - rebuilding after catastrophes over 900 years! Although Christianity is in obvious decline in Europe, it is clear that there is still more than a remnant left. The Holy Spirit continues to lift up those people to be a witness to what God can do. As I looked at the pictures of the WWII destruction of St. Mary's, I thought about the worst times in my life and they seemed pretty small and unimportant, compared to the destruction of this church building and the rest of the city. Add to the fact that the Nazi's were extremely dominant in this town and then they lost the war. I'm sure there were a lot of people there wondering where God was for them. It would be hard to be so wrong about God's will. But God was always there for the German people, loving them in spite of the extreme error of their ways, as God is there for all of us. God's refuge and strength is ours and theirs, whenever we choose to call on God. That is just the beginning of why the of the rebuilding of St. Mary's Cathedral following WWII is so impressive. Their faith is amazing. As we move into fall, please remember to call on God - whenever your world seems to be falling apart, when your mountains seem to be crumbling, or when your waters are raging and roaring. Call on God - whether your troubles are because of something you did, or something that happened that was out of your control. God is always near in times of great trouble and in times of minor scrapes, ready to help. In Christ's name, Pastor Kay

4 Missions As we approach the holiday season, let us remember what the real reason is: to be thankful (Thanksgiving) and to celebrate the birth of Jesus, our Savior. Here at Fort Lupton United Methodist Church we know what mission is. We have a mission moment every month and donate to many causes. At this moment we are hosting two families in the Miracle House. Currently there is a family of 5 and one mother who is pregnant and has a 17 month old child. Both families are homeless and need a safe place to stay, a chance to regroup and time to focus on their goals. We have the Back Pack program in the Miracle House feeding the hungry school children in Butler and Twombly on the weekends. These children are from food insecure homes and their bodies need the proper nutrition to mature and to learn how to be good citizens. We support the Operation Christmas Shoebox drive for shoeboxes with gifts and the story of Jesus in each box that go all over the world. November is Student Month, a United Methodist project, for scholarships for United Methodist members. In December our mission will support the Fort Lupton Food and Clothing Bank. We support UMCOR. If you would like to see what all UMCOR does go to the web site. We send our youth and adults out into the world to witness with their faithfulness and actions, the love of Jesus Christ,. Our trip this year was to a Hospice House in Albuquerque. These are just a few of the missions that Fort Lupton United Methodist Church is involved in. Our Choir is working on a beautiful concert, The Wonders of His Love. We are so blessed. Let s keep sharing our blessings. Jesus wants us to be stewards, servants and missionaries here in our own home town and also when we travel. Remember who He is and praise His name. CLC & Sunday School We are off to a wonderful year. Things are coming together nicely and things are booming. CLC has 24 kids and they are having a great time. They are working on the Fruits of the Spirit Series. The leaders work hard to make it a fun learning and growing experience. Snacks are very important, so thank for those who supply them. CLC did get to go on a field trip. They went to Miller Farms and came home with a bag of veggies and a pumpkin. Most of all they had wonderful fellowship and spent great time together. Sunday School has around 11 kids each week and we are hoping to keep growing. The younger kids are doing rotation, The Good News, and starting Jesus is Baptized. The High School class is doing a series called, The Way I'm Wired. It is about discovering who God made me to be and at the end of this series we will be making a life map. Hopefully, this will show them what way that God is leading them. A big thank you to all of the volunteers who help make all this possible for the kids. Thanks for all you do. In His Love SuzAnn McCrumb Page 4
