Thanks to our Underwriters Mike & Brenda Decker we were able to provide a chartered bus, so our members didn t have to navigate the roads and traffic. The bus also provided extra time for camaraderie for our members. 30 of our members rode on the bus, and another 10 members joined us in Omaha. We had a beautiful Mass at Immaculate Conception Church on the Boys Town campus. Social and dinner followed at Shadow Ridge Country Club. Our speaker was the Hon. Jeff Funke of the Nebraska Supreme Court. He spoke on the power that prayer has played in his life throughout his career...from law student to Supreme Court Justice. poor (1) L to R: Fr. He is the former host of the award-winning Catholic Answers Live radio show, and the Catholic Answers Focus podcast. Patrick has interviewed a wide array of leaders, four presidential candidates, actor-director Kevin Costner, Harry Connick, Jr., Joseph Fiennes, Sir James MacMillan, Cardinals Raymond Burke, Francis Arinze, and George Pell, Dr. Scott Hahn, Archbishops Alexander Sample and Salvatore Cordileone, Bishops Robert Barron and Thomas Olmsted, novelist Dean Koontz, Poet Laureate of California Dana Gioia, and scores of Christian thinkers and leaders. 3 Page 3 Chapter Notes July Event Comments: ~ AC on bus was Poor at best. ~ I really liked having a speaker with a personal connection to our state, our Church. Jeff has a beautiful family and they are very active in their community. ~ One of the best events of the year. ~ I thought Justice Funke's talk was incredible. Too often today, most public figures hide their religion and beliefs to avoid any conflict, which is clearly not the case for Justice Funke. It was an inspiring talk to see how he balances family, faith and his public service. He is a living example of the power of prayer. ~ Judge Funke had a compelling message, delivered it with authenticity and passion. Bus ride was a hoot! Bar Tender was awesome! haha. ~ Nice to have a native son in a key position and able to share his faith and work perspective. ~ The event was wonderful, from the Mass to the meal, and the speaker.
