2 From the Pastor The weather around here has been cold and wet and dreary for so long that we almost forgot any other weather was even possible and then we got ice and snow and more ice! Suddenly things have changed! Easter arrived, the weather has started to warm, and plants are springing to life in celebration! It s happening during the month of May at church too! There is so much for our church family to celebrate! We will celebrate Baptisms and First Communion and Confirmation Sunday and that s just on May 6! We will celebrate Pentecost Sunday. We will honor our graduating Seniors and pray for them on the next chapter of their journey. We will clean up our church. We will start getting things ready for our Annual Church Picnic. We will worship and give thanks as all creation springs to life. Come and celebrate Spring and new chapters of our lives and all GOD s blessings. Offer your gifts and talents and treasure for the ministry that happens through our church. Give thanks that Summer isn t far off. Think about how you will have an impact at Vacation Bible School. Come and join us as the church springs to life this May! Milwaukee Brewers game May 23 A group of members will be going to the Brewers Game at Miller Park in Milwaukee on May 23. We will gather at the church parking lot at 9:00 AM to carpool to the game. We will have a tailgate lunch. Questions call Alaina Blanchard at Spring Clean Up Day Come and help make our Church shine. We will have a Spring Cleanup day to make our church and make the grounds shine. We will work on flower beds and many other items that need attention. Come with your gloves and tools. We will meet on May 19 at 9:30 am

5 Sunday School News Last Day of Sunday School - May 13 Fun Craft Day & Ice Cream Social Come join us!!! Second Helpings - Sharing Center On May 13 we will gather breakfast cereal & diapers (sizes 4 & 5). As we count our blessings, we need to remember those who are in need, our neighbors. We work with the Sharing Center to make a difference for those neighbors battling rural poverty. We also want to make sure the children are able to have what they need too. That is why it is so important that we gather these things every month. If we all give one item, it will grow to help so many of our neighbors. Please pray for our neighbors in need and consider offering a gift to help them through our Second Helpings program. CLCW RUMMAGE SALE Friday, April 27 8 AM - 3PM Bingo May 10 We will be hosting Bingo for our friends and neighbors on Thursday, May 10. Doors will open at 5PM and games will start at 6PM. We will be serving Hot Dogs and Hamburgers! As always we need people to help out during the evening of the event or by making a yummy dessert for people to enjoy. We always are looking for helpers with this wonderful and easy fundraiser. Can you make a yummy dessert? Can you come and join us? See you at Bingo in May. Come and have fun. Grief Support Group Loss is a part of living. It isn t something that we re supposed to get over. It isn t something that comes with a clock that says it will only last this long. Living despite loss and finding others who are willing to help us carry our load are goals of a new Grief Support Group being started at Christ Lutheran. If you have lived life and experienced loss or if you could use conversation with others who have experienced loss too, contact Pastor Eric. Thanks to the Choir Thank you to all our choir members for faithfully offering their talents weekly. Truly we have been blessed by your music. Our last Sunday of choir will be on May 20. Now it is time for our members to offer their musical talents during the summer. Is this you? Summer music makes our worship services very special. If you would like to help out, contact Del Peterson at the Organ on Sunday. Picnic, Pork Roast and Car Show Saturday, July 21, 2018 Noon-5PM In the month of May, we are asking members to start collecting Silent Auction Items and to start selling dinner and raffle tickets. Silent Auction items could be new, hand-crafted, or gently used. Examples of Silent Auction items we have had in the past include theme baskets, tools, gift certificates from local businesses, etc. If you are working outside of the home, consider asking your employer to help with an item. If you know a local business owner, consider asking them to help with an item. A letter will be available outside of the Church Office to bring with you when contacting businesses to donate potential Silent Auction Items. If you don t have a specific idea for a Silent Auction item, consider donating money towards an item. Silent Auction Items can be dropped off at the church from May 13 through July 20. By May 6, each member family will receive dinner and raffle tickets to sell. The annual picnic is a great time, a great meal, a great cause and a great chance to invite friends, family and neighbors to our church. We ask that you share your time, talents, and energy to help make this a great event! Contact information for Picnic/Car Show volunteers is available in the narthex on the bulletin board. Our next planning meeting will be on May 6 at 10:30 AM in the Narthex (to allow time for us to enjoy fellowship Sunday refreshments).

Many of the Church Women are very involved with the activities of the church and this is one way of getting to meet and greet old and make new friends. We have older members and younger members and when we get together we have a great time! Come join us for Food, Fun and Fellowship dinner. Make new friends or visit with old ones. Join your Sisters In Christ for dinner and fellowship at the 75th Street Inn in Paddock Lake on May 16 starting at 6:00 PM. First Holy Communion This is my body This is my blood. Given for the forgiveness of sins Matthew 26:22-28 There were several promises made at Holy Baptism for our children. One of the ways we keep those promises is through preparation for Holy Communion. The church also promises to help young people begin to understand about GOD s love for them. As parents and the church we promise to walk with these young people as they grow and face new challenges and new choices. We celebrate as GOD s love and forgiveness is received in the Sacrament of Holy Communion for the first time on May 6, 2018 by Tristan Benson and Maureen Rosenick. Congratulations Class of 2018 We want to congratulate our graduates and life up in our prayers all who will be graduating this year in Whatever the next chapter in your life might be, know that you go forward surrounded by our prayers. No matter how far your adventure takes you know where your roots are planted and that you will always have a home and a family here at Christ Lutheran Church. The Quilt group will present a special quilt to all our High School Graduates on Sunday, May 20. Come join us for worship on this special occasion.
