3 A Heavenly Promotion On August 20th, Dave (Hampson, former Galloway pastor) went to be with Jesus and is now celebrating in heaven! He went so peacefully, and we are thankful. We know he is not in pain anymore, and he is finally running his marathon and has a perfect golf game! What a legacy he has left; and countless lives he s touched. His heart will live on through our family. Heaven is so lucky. We can t explain how much all of the support has meant; thank you for praying with us through this journey. -Kathy Hampson The Hampson family have asked that Galloway host a memorial service in honor of Dave s life on Saturday, November 26th. The family will be flying in for the event. We are asking that those of you who hold Dave and his family in a special place in your heart save the date and plan on attending. The family is still making arrangements for that and will have more details for us later. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to two very special ministries that were dear to Dave's heart: Reach One Touch One (reachone-touchone.org) or Sower of Seeds (sosresponds.org). Also, Christina has set up a GoFund Me account to which donations may be made ( Christina shared: We were so blessed to be given an Alaskan cruise as a gift from my mom's family and it was an AMAZING time together as a family. Many people have asked what they can do to help my mom. God has been so faithful, but the financial strain has been immense. They did not have a solid form of income throughout his treatment. If you know my parents, you know that they are some of the most financially wise and generous people. Many of you might want the opportunity to help my mom in a very difficult time. Giving toward her current living and medical expenses would be incredibly practical and would bless her socks off during this season! Please do not feel any pressure. We continue to trust a very faithful God! THANK YOU FOR BEING A MIGHTY PRAYER ARMY! We love you all! Vision Known as the queen of gospel song writers, Fanny Crosby ( ) wrote more than 9,000 Christian hymns, including Blessed Assurance and Safe in the Arms of Jesus. Blind from a young age, she developed a love for poetry and Scripture, memorizing about five chapters of the Bible each week. Crosby was the first woman to speak in the U.S. Senate, lobbying to support education for the blind. She also was an abolitionist who made friends with several presidents. A well-meaning pastor once told Crosby, It is a great pity that the Master did not give you sight when he showered so many other gifts upon you. She responded that her blindness was a blessing she wouldn t wish away. When I get to heaven, Crosby said, the first face that shall ever gladden my sight will be that of my Savior.

4 Over 50 s The Over 50 s will meet at Eloise Beach s on September 8 at 5:00 pm for a mountain pie picnic. Please bring your own chair and beverage. The group will meet during the year to discuss readings, share ideas and encourage each other to find ways to transform what we learn into how we live. Books are rotated the first Sunday of each month through June The months of July and August are "catch-up" months in case you would like to finish or reread a book from earlier in the year. There is a small fee to offset the cost of the books. Any woman interested in reading a book a month is welcome to attend the kick-off gathering on August 28th. All told, the kids brought in $4, for Free WheelChair Mission, enough for wheelchairs! Keep our church leadership lifted in prayer. 7 Volunteers in Mission TRAINING DAY Galloway Church is hosting a Volunteers in Mission (VIM) training event on Sunday, September 25 from 2:00-7:30 pm. Dinner will be provided. This training is for certification as United Methodist Volunteers in Mission Team Leader and is designed to equip participants to plan and lead VIM teams locally, nationally, or internationally.
