4 My Purpose in Christ I think at some point, or at multiple points, in our lives, we ask, What is our purpose in this life? I know personally I have asked this question regularly since my junior year of high school. As I write this, I can t shake this feeling of wanting to share my heart and my story for people to grasp how big God is and how far I have come. So, with that being said, I ll start from when I really started to become my own person. I grew up with incredible parents - the very best. They always, and still do, love me more than what I deserve. Near the middle of my junior year I met a boy; a boy that I thought was "the one. We dated for over a year and then got engaged the winter of my senior year. I was head over heals, completely and totally in love, in the worst kind of way. He was the first guy that gave me the attention that I so desperately wanted and that I craved. I never was one that was a hit with the guys, nor felt good enough in anything that I did - which kick started depression at a young age. Things with this young man went south and went south quickly. We were together- not together more times than I can remember. I was hurt, lost, confused, depressed, and broken. I went down a dark path that I so easily hid from the world around me. I hated my family, my friends, school, church, and God. I still went to church and did it all with a smile on my face. Some days were worse than others and harder to hide. Some picked up on my masks, others did not. As I went through this, I was chasing after earthly things to fill the voids in my heart. I was saying and doing things I so strongly stood against my entire Christian walk. Suicide was a battle I walked with everyday, and unfortunately gave in to twice. But, by the grace of God those attempts didn t work out. I wasn t sold back into the whole God thing right away. It took a few years after this for it to stick. I struggled everyday with guilt, shame, and brokenness. I don t have a memory of a moment where things just clicked again; it was a slow walk to finding God and myself again. But when I let Him back in, He changed my life. He continues to do so. I m not saying that I don t struggle with things anymore I am human and 23 years old, but I m so thankful we serve a gracious God. "I'm just a girl that loves Jesus, who loves kids, and loves sharing God's Word with the world. I want to love and live as Just recently I started the job of Director of Children s Ministry at Galloway Church. It was totally a God thing. I have absolutely no business being in this position, other than my love for kids and wanting them to know my God like I know Him. It s been an absolute blessing! The people I work with are incredible and probably my closest friends. What more could you ask for? They are also super awesome because they support my heart for missions. Jesus did before us." I traveled to Haiti in January 2016, and currently just returned from the - Colleen Haynes Dominican Republic. Of course I fell in love with this beautiful country! When I was in Haiti, I was feeling this call to missions. I wasn t sure where that was exactly, or if I was kidding myself. I never stopped praying for that calling, hoping He would reveal that to me. On this trip, again, I got the calling to be a full time missionary. A lot of the time you feel this way during and after a mission trip because you are on such a spiritual high, and it can be easily confused. After countless hours of being in prayer and being prophesied over, it is almost transparent that missions is where I am being called. But, here s the thing - Yes, I am called to be a full time missionary in the DR and Haiti, but just not yet. He still is working in me to make me the missionary I need to be in order to serve God in the correct way. There have been so many things this past year that just line up and make sense. Things I never would have thought would make any kind of sense, do make sense. Did I derail this past year? Absolutely! Am I human? You bet! But my God is SO much bigger than any of that. On this trip I got this calling to be a missionary, but the amazing thing is I already am. Every time I step into a Sunday school room full of kids I ve entered my mission field. When you finally let the Holy Spirit consume you, it changes your life... and it s amazing! This is my purpose. Colleen Haynes, Director of Children's Ministry
5 Man Camp 2017 Dear Galloway family, We go into this new year trusting God. He is leading our teams here in Perth into Manila, Philippines. We have been challenged in so many ways as we've seen Him direct, provide, and move among us. Galloway's partnership with us has increased our faith as we see God affirming and confirming that He is going before us. We are expecting big things this coming year! We are so incredibly grateful, and awed by your example as a body, reflecting the love of our Savior. The finances we received from the Christmas offering are a blessing. Thank you for giving and for praying! Sincerely, Matt & Steph Bell To keep us with Matt & Steph on their journey find them on Facebook or shoot them an requesting to be added to their newsletter: mattandstephbell.work@gmail.com February 17-19, 2017 Friday, 6PM Sunday, 1PM Man Camp Activities Climbing, Skeet Shooting, Hiking, Paintball, Hand Gun Target Range, 22LR Rifle Golf, Campfires, Indoor Sports, 3D Archery Our Speaker: Gordon Dasher Thank you very much for the fruit basket. 6 Emerge Ministry Kicks Off This ministry was birthed out of God's leading and the hearts of two women for the people of their community. Billie Hawkins has five years experience working with young adults who live in poverty in Venango County. She has been a part of struggles that arise from their, seemingly, hopeless situations. Beth Geer has a degree in Christian and Youth Ministry. She has worked in foster care children's homes and has held several different ministry roles. She has a heart and passion for discipleship and changed lives. Emerge Ministry seeks to serve transitional aged women and their families by providing spiritual supports, relational supports and meeting physical and monetary needs. The program and core values of Emerge Ministry is to go into the places where needs are lacking in the community, particularly transitional aged women (18-26). Our program focuses on bridging those gaps. We will be running meetings twice a month, which will include Bible studies that focus on bringing hope, change and spiritual growth. The meetings will also be relational focused, centered on creating an environment of trust. Emerge Ministry will launch on February 8th and continue to meet the second and last Wednesdays of each month. Second Wednesday's will held at ABC Life Center th Street Franklin, PA Last Wednesday's will be held at Galloway United Methodist Church 196 Seysler Road Franklin, PA Emerge Ministry will be funded by donations, fundraisers, and grants.
