1 T R I N I T Y TRANSFORMER A publication of Trinity United Methodist Church Our Mission: To Be Lovingly Obedient To Christ Vol. 7 No. 04 April 2016 Dear Children of God, Spring time is my favorite time of year. I love to see the rebirth of plants, flowers and grass; and I love to see the birth of new babies. In fact, Sandi Patty in her song You Alone says: In the autumn of New England With the sea electric blue And the Arizona desert When a storm rolls into view We have so much to be thankful for, so as we go through this time together, let us praise God for all God s love and care for our lives and the beauty that we find in each other. The Navajo (Dine ) people say in a closing blessing song. In Beauty it is finished, in beauty it is finished, in beauty it is finished, in beauty it is finished. Thanks be to God for Jesus death and resurrection in beauty. It is finished. Pastor Tweedy Rev. Tweedy Sombrero Navarrete In the Southern spring time meadows Where the daffodils have grown I have seen the glory, Lord, of You alone In the California sunset And the Carolina dawn In the tall wheat fields of Kansas The Mississippi rolling on and on In the midnights of Montana And the snows of Yellowstone I have seen the glory, Lord, of You alone All around us, God is at work; and the beauty of God s work is wonderful to behold. We even try to capture the beauty of God s creation with our cameras, sometimes it s good and other times it s something we need to just remember. God loves us with all the beauty around us, and it is God alone who causes such beauty; not only in nature but also with the creation of all people. Our own human tapestry is a beauty to behold. Thanks be to God. CELEBRATION Ken and Sharon Felty OPEN HOUSE Saturday, April 2, :00 PM to 4:00 PM Sunrise Mobile Estates Clubhouse 1950 E. 24 th Street (between Bible Baptist Church and Chevron) No gifts, please.

Casitas now has need for people to join a group from Ohio (bringing all needed funds) to help build a house: dates are April 7-12 and April 28 through May 3. If interested, please contact Bob or Randa by - RWRaySr@aol.com or PastorRanda@aol.com or call them at Jean Rivers, Outreach Team Vacation Bible School 2016 Monday through Friday June 20 th 24 th FOOD BANK SUNDAY April 3 rd As we continue to celebrate our risen Lord let us share with our brothers and sisters in Yuma County. 6 Remembering our past... As we celebrate our 63 rd year! Trinity Names! Morris Hall? Boone-Pooler Building? Muriel Freeman Library? Jeanne Barnes Chapel? Why this name? More important, who were these people? W. Norris Barnes was the first full time Pastor of Trinity ( ). In 1956, Trinity was saddened by the death of his wife Jeanne. A fund was started in her memory to purchase an organ for the sanctuary. Later the chapel at the end of Morris Hall was dedicated Jeanne Barnes Memorial Chapel. Morris Hall: Herb and Frankie Morris were first to sign Trinity's membership book. Herb helped construct the first building which served as sanctuary, office, classrooms, until the main sanctuary was built. He helped in construction of all future buildings and then the remodeling of Morris Hall. Herb said he'd held every position in the church, except president of WSCS (Women s Society for Christian Service). Frankie played her flute, was choir director and church school treasurer for many years. Constance Stone Circle was named after Frankie's mother, a very active WSCS member. Selden and Melba Stone moved to Yuma when he retired from the Air Force. They hosted the coffee hour for over 40 years. Selden continues to sing in the choir and was a church trustee. When the old education wing on the west side of the property was torn down the Boone-Pooler Building was constructed with a grant from former member Bob Boone, brother of Geri Pooler, long time member. Her son Robert Wayne Pooler sings with the choir. The Muriel Freeman Library was furnished in memory of Muriel Freeman who worked for 'Yuma Daily Sun" and promoted literacy through Newspapers in Education." Muriel was active in Walk to Emmaus activities with churches in Yuma. Landscaping at Trinity has been enhanced through memorials. Hank Vandenberg was a trustee and helped with construction projects. Nikki Ferguson teenage daughter of Ana and Greg Ferguson, was an active youth before her illness and death. See signs in flower beds. Memorial plaques can be found in the front of hymnals and on pews and various church items. More information is available in the Memorial book which is in the Chapel at the west end of Morris Hall. Many helping hands and prayers have helped build and furnish the church complex called Trinity and kept the faith alive to act for the greater glory of God..Marlene Evans, Membership Secretary The Desert Southwest Annual Conference 2016 Camp Schedule has been released.
