Kidd awardee Brother Richard King 7:12 pm Polemarch s Report Polemarch Brother Richard Horton III 1. Polemarch s Update A. Invited Brothers to post-meeting cocktail at newly opened Oscala B. Wished Brothers Happy Chapter Anniversary, official BD was April 12. Brother Horton reviewed history of the chapter chartering April 12, 1969 C. Province Council report chapter has satisfied all requirements D. Recognized the NEP highest award winner James M. Kidd honoree Brother Richard King E. Reviewed the Pan-Hell basketball contest F. Reviewed the chapter achievements of the fraternal years which included an increase of sustaining Brothers, expanding mentoring and performing community service. Twenty Brothers reclaimed bringing chapter membership to highest in history while also introducing reclamation gifts. Guide Right has become financially independent. Rutgers University Expansion Colony now poised to charter in Fall of KCDC executive mission statement draft has been formulated. Strong Arm chapter brand has been upgraded with tent, step & repeat, table skirt and chapter lapel pin. Exchequer was at $16,986 in 2015, currently at $13,981 thus have not suffered financially. G. Requested Committee Chairs to submit summation for June 2018 meeting H. Upcoming reminder of the Red & White fund-raising event to set up the chapter financially for next year 7:26 pm Keeper of Records Report-Brother Billy Wright 1. Epsilon Chapter Kappa Krab & Shrimp Fest, Saturday, July 14, Upper Marlboro, MD E. Chester Alumni 30-year anniversary week-end, June Motion to adopt Keeper of Records report by Brother Vincent Cream, seconded by Brother Greg Wilson. Motion carried 1
2 7:32 pm Keeper of Exchequer Report Presented by Brother Polemarch Horton in Brother Ben Jackson absence 1. $500 donation from Rutgers expansion colony neophytes will be applied to charter costs they now got skin in the game. 2. Variance is under budget 3. Social Action committee is financially self-sufficient Motion to adopt the Keeper of Exchequer report by Brother Richard King, seconded by Brother Kevin Johnson. March workshop (presented by Brother Vincent Cream) concentrated on military careers with presentations from Brothers Paul Harris and Chad King. Students are preparing to debate their presentations D. looking ahead senior college signing day-may 23, 7-9:00pm. All four Kappa League Scholarship Book Awards and two $1,000 scholarships (Byron K. Armstrong Award & Wilbur Pony Wilson Award) all covered with monies received 2. Social Action- presented by Brother Larry McSeed in the absence of Brother Ryan Harrell A. Painting for Autism brainchild of Brother Keith Horne, April 29, 6-9:00pm, Wayne Bryant Community Center, Lawnside, cost $45 B. Health Fair, May 5, Kroc Center, 9am-3pm. Come ready to work and wear your letters 3. HBCU Tour report-brother Billy Wright A. Tour April 3-4 to Delaware State, Maryland Eastern Shore, Norfolk State and Hampton University very successful. 44 students representing 12 different high schools including 7 Kappa Leaguers. Post event survey students very satisfied and thankful for opportunity, voting Norfolk State #1 4. KCDC Report-Brother Erik Burrell A. Recognized committee Brothers who are in attendance B. Introduced Brother Wright to chair golf tournament, Saturday, August 18 th, Valleybrook Country Club C. Brother Larry Chenault introduced to speak about part time KCDC Executive Director position D. Brother Foggie introduced to speak about STEM workshop at Rowan University through Brother Greg Peyton 5. Pan-Hellinic Report-Brother Will Maddox A. Ronald MacDonald House April 12, 3:30-5:30pm, Brothers Billy Wright & Willie Maddox in attendance B. Greek basketball tournament, March 31 st at Lawnside Public School very successful, 2
3 Kappa team defeated Sigmas in overtime. Eight Brothers in attendance 6. Rutgers-Camden Undergrad Advisor Report-Brother Kris Smith A. Reported on the status of the Rutgers-Camden University Kappa 6 new Brothers pinned and introduced. Thanks to Brothers for supporting the March 29th campus step show B. Polemarch Joshua Thornton introduced the new initiates and reported on several upcoming events: April pm Arkada Night; April 24 Lip Sync; April 25, Bake Sale and Burger & Fries; April 26 Meet the Kappas. Premium event, June 9 th, 7-8pm open bar, Auletto s tickets available and post cards available for distribution, $75 individual-$140 a couple, $700 for a table of Nominating Committee-Brother Richard King A.
