2 A Note from Your Pastor ~ Lent is a time of preparation of looking at ourselves and allowing the spirit of God to search us and know us. It is a time when we tune our ears to hear the voice of God as well as refocus our eyes upon the face of Jesus. During this time, we as a church have been looking at the Old Testament prophecies of Jesus, and the I Am statements Jesus made about Himself in the Gospel of John. We have looked at Jesus as the Light of the World, as the Bread of Life, the Gate, the Good Shepherd, the True Vine and the Resurrection and the Life. As we come into the celebration of Holy Week, we recognize Jesus as the King who has ALL Authority over our lives. We will worship at the table and experience the servant nature of Jesus and the betrayal as He was arrested. We will walk through the tragic and horrifying trial and crucifixion of our precious Lord. Then the quietness of no hope while the grave was full. And the greatest celebration of the Christian year as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus from the grave the event that is God s guarantee of our new life in Christ. The passion and resurrection of Jesus are the foundational events of our faith. But what difference does this all make? Unless it impacts our lives today, the power of God is wasted. It is not just a future hope for life with God in paradise once we have died. This is a promise we have, BUT it is not all there is. Eternal LIFE begins at the moment we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. It is ours at this present moment. Our lives are to be full of God s Spirit and full of the power, joy and abundance of life that comes from a relationship with the King of eternity. As God s people here in this community we are to be active in ministering to the needs of others. We are to be the demonstration of the power of God in our lives. We have the message of hope, mercy, love and repentance and we need to be taking these outside the walls of the church. Won t you invite others into new life? Invite them to be a part of our church family. We will make room for your friends and acquaintances to join with us as we journey together with Jesus our Lord and our King.
