Yet again we have failed to be the people you call us to be. We have thought ill of others, lashed out with harsh words, and elevated our own ideas and needs above those of others. We have not respected all human beings as your beloved children and have been impatient with those you call us to love. Without your aid and direction, we cannot love as you love, work selflessly for justice, and show compassion to all. Open us to your presence. The service is broadcast over the radio at 11:00 a.m., on WAAM (1600 AM), and on the station s website, At the 9:30 a.m. worship service we commission a team of 33 high schoolers and their leaders for a trip to Fraser, Colorado, to repair homes, maintain trails, and prepare home heating wood. Each day the team will work, worship and have small-group time. Our team is joined by 26 youth from First Presbyterian churches of Boise and Nampa, Idaho. First Pres youth team members are Josh King, Matt Wilson, Dallas Colligan, Christina Fosheim-Hoag, Maddie Mervis, Emily Newman, Lily Scheske, Erin Tichenor, Karl Gage, Ben Lindstrom, Ryan Snyder, John Crawford, Grace Heidorn, Jenna King, Allie Lindstrom, Kate Monnett, Grace VanRenterghem, Hadley VanRenterghem, Gage Sansbury, Chad Wilson, Claire Colvin-St.Cyr, Morgan Eddins, Anna Kaehr, Alexa Mikhail, Grant Sprague, and Sean Tichenor. At the 11:00 a.m. worship service we commission a team of five missioners for a week of service and Christian witness in Davydovo, Russia. The team will work on construction projects, build relationships, lead worship, and assist at a camp for disabled youth, organized by Father Vladimir. Our team includes Rev. Lal Rodawla, Gerry and Jan Leckrone, Virginia Bell, and Linda Tubbs. Musical leadership is provided by the Chancel Choir and the Recorder Ensemble.

5 TODAY S EVENTS The Session has called a congregational meeting to follow the 9:30 a.m. service today for the purpose of electing an elder to fill an unexpired term on Session, Class of 2015, and to share information regarding the business affairs of the church, including issues regarding church finances and property. Lucie Audette has been nominated to fill the unexpired term. Children s Ministry Opportunities: Sunday School classes are held for crib through fifth graders at 9:30 a.m., and for crib through young five-year-olds at 11:00 a.m. Worship totes are available for children attending worship at 11:00 a.m. Adult Education Opportunities: T2A2 (Twenties and Thirties of Ann Arbor) Discipleship Class meets in the Youth Room on the 100 level with Rev. Conrad at 11:00 a.m. All are welcome. Mature Singles meet at 11:00 a.m. in the Curtis Room to view the DVD Art of Faith. Contemporary Christian Issues meets at 12:30 p.m. at the home of Nancy Oliver. The dedication of the Habitat for Humanity House of Faith on which many of us worked is today at 2:00 p.m. Plan to attend to tour the completed house, meet the family, and celebrate the new home. The house is located at 1094 Rambling Road, Ypsilanti. ANNOUNCEMENTS A memorial service for Alma Chand will be held Saturday, June 28, at 10:30 a.m. A reception will follow in the Social Hall. 6 Volunteer for the 2014 School Supplies for the Philippines Project. Come June 26, 27, and 28 to sort, inventory, and pack donated school supplies and books for the Philippines. Come for as many days as you are able between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. at the Rezmierskis house, 1050 Elmwood Drive. This is fun work and a wonderful way to keep valuable materials out of the landfills and put them into the hands of eager teachers and students. Hospital visits are made daily by our pastors to our members and friends at UM Hospitals and St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. Please call, or have a loved one call, the Church Office and let us know if you are hospitalized. Call or Rev. Rogers to request a pastoral visit ( , mrogers@firstpresbyterian.org). The Birthday Fund was launched at our recent church picnic. Church members sang Happy Birthday as Aaron Wisniewski, with help from his family, blew out candles on a giant cake to celebrate his 6th birthday. His parents, Paul and Karen, honored Aaron s 6th birthday on June 8 with a gift of six dollars. Other church members who have a June 8 birthday joined the celebration by making inaugural gifts. Spaulding Clark gave $73 in celebration of his birthday, and Kathy Sample and Bill Brinkerhoff honored both their son Ben on his 19th birthday and their daughter Amelia on her 21st birthday. The Birthday Fund will allow each of us to celebrate birthdays in a new and special way - with gratitude to God, by making a gift to First Presbyterian Church s Endowment Fund. Year after year, your gift will support the church you love. It s easy to make your birthday gift. Envelopes are available in the Church Office. Mature Ministries has spots available for the August 12 tour of the American Museum of Magic with lunch at Schuler s Restaurant in Marshall, Michigan. Contact Rev. Rogers to reserve your spot. Summer ushers are needed. Our usher teams take a vacation in July and August from regular team duty. Minimal training is necessary to learn the ropes. Veteran ushers will be on hand to assist and support. If you are willing to serve as an usher for a 9:30 or 11:00 a.m. service this summer, please sign up on our website. Volunteers are needed for outdoor summer worship Sundays. A team of eight volunteers is needed for each of the six outdoor summer worship Sundays to set up and take down chairs and small tables. Volunteers should arrive by 8:00 a.m. Please add your name to the sign-up board in the Welcome Center if you are available to volunteer. Our summer worship schedule begins next Sunday, June 29. Services will be held in Monteith Hall at 8:00 and 11:00 a.m. The 9:30 a.m. service will be held outside in front of the Sanctuary, weather permitting, and inside the Sanctuary in case of inclement weather.
