May you continue to so throughout your whole life. God go with you. Parents? Grandparents? Don t forget that we have Sunday School during the 9:30 AM Worship Service this summer. Children age 2+ through 8 are encouraged to attend. Children will begin in church at 9:30 and be dismissed to the Library for Sunday School after the reading of the Gospel. We have been blessed with a host of teachers willing to teach one Sunday during the summer. Our sincere sympathy to Linda and Kirsten Weiss whose husband and father, Rodney Weiss, entered the Church Triumphant on Friday, May 31 st. Memorial services were held at Trinity on Thursday, June 6 th ; to Darlene Lundy whose mother, Cathline Anderson, entered the Church Triumphant on June 10 th and to Eleanor Brossman whose brother, Warren Ochs, entered the Church Triumphant on June 17 th. Please keep these people in your thoughts and prayers.

4 Your congregation reached out to the United States through their work/ministry at the Brethren Center in New Windsor/Maryland on June 4, They helped do work on care packages of different sorts that the center sends to people in need throughout the country. Many of the boxes they packed were for Lutheran World Relief to go to the victims of the tornado in Oklahoma. Kevin Kurtz coordinated this outreach ministry. The following people participated in the day s work: Bob Bashore Diane Brown and friend Kathy Barry and Jennifer Coldren Scott Franzen Dawn Hickernell John and Kevin Kurtz Kathy Lawry Dan and Mary Nace Pete Schmehl Jullie and Kerri Searfoss Sue Sickler Together they packaged 222 boxes of school kits, sewing kits, baby kits, and personal hygiene kits. Weighing an average of about 50 pounds per box, over 10 ½ tons of supplies. Folded 36 bales of quilts with 36 quilts per bale 1,296 quilts packaged. Inspected and packaged over 30 boxes of health kits most likely weighing close to 1 ton. Well done thou good and faithful servants.

A sign-up sheet is posted in the Narthex You would not believe how appreciative people are to hear one another s talent. Have a garden? If God blesses you with an abundance bring your overage to the crate. Beginning Sunday, July 7th. If you don t have a garden or are not growing what s in the crate take what you would like, leave a donation. All donations will be given to World Hunger. Committee Liaisons? You should be receiving your 2014 budget worksheet. If you have not, touch base with Scott Franzen, finance chair. They are due September 29, 2013.

6 BOOK BAGS for CONRAD WEISER EAST In 2008 our Social Ministry Committee started a new tradition of supplying book bags packed with goodies for Conrad Weiser East pupils who are in need. They don t need to be elaborate but something that will do the job. Our blue gray tub will appear on the windowsill on July 8th. We ll be looking for AT LEAST 15 BOOK BAGS and THE STUFFINGS (no Scissors) for elementary age pupils through Sunday, August 11th. You can bring one item, or several items to fill a book bag and/or you can bring a book bag. Any combination of donations will be gladly accepted. Volunteers will assemble and deliver to the school the week of August 12th. Your regular giving will begin to fund a new project, budgeted for by the Property Committee in 2013, for our preschool. For a long time our preschool has needed new windows. Take the time and check out the shape of the wood frames and the caulking from the outside after worship some Saturday or Sunday. Donald Oxenreider consulted with Betty Lou Franzen, our preschool teacher, about what kind of windows she would prefer. She shared that the longer thinner turn out windows with a crank at the bottom of the framing is the type of window that serves the preschool best. The windows are on order and should arrive at the contractors by the end of June for replacement in July.

7 Do you have four Thursday evenings that you would commit to the larger church? Betty Lou Franzen and your pastor serve as representatives to the Ecumenical Affairs Committee of Wernersville. We really should have a second parishioner for a second delegate to this Committee. We meet the second Thursday of September, November, February, and May from 7:30 PM until 9:00 PM. Our meetings are never more than an hour and a half. This group brings you the grove service, Thanksgiving Eve service, and a future retreat for Lent. If you are interested, let the pastor know. Teach by Travel is an all inclusive travel program for Adults and Teens. We are looking at traveling abroad June 2014 and welcome you to join us. There are several amazing trips available for us to take including a religious trip to Turkey, a religious trip to Israel, and a churches tour to Scandavia. If you are interested in attending an informational meeting you are invited to sign up on the sheet in the narthex. Please include your name, phone number and/or address. Meeting date and time to be determined. 10 Another year and another heartfelt thank you to all who signed up and said yes to our calls and pleas for help at the Strawberry Festival. It is our pleasure to speak with you each year. Your willingness to help us in so many different ways is greatly appreciated, and it is big factor in the success of the festival. Anne Marie Rinehimer and Mary Young Thank you to everyone who donated books, DVD s, and VCR tapes. A special thank you to Kathy Bashore, Izannah Bashore, and Mary Young who sorted our donations prior to the big day. They also came back the following week to sort through the remains and determine what would be retained for next year and what went elsewhere. Thank you to Hiliary Decker, Carolyn Kurtz, and Leslie Pirl/Roth for helping me at the table the day of the festival. Hilary and Leslie were new to the stand this year but were a really big help and very knowledgeable about books. Carol Koch Church Council Highlights for June Approved recommendation to hire Jennifer Gilmer as prekindergarten teacher s aide. Received report from Kevin Kurtz regarding Mission Possible trip to New Windsor, Maryland. Researching feasibility of requests received from Linked In and Facebook. Discussed changes/options coming to PD s health care plan in Discussed PD s challenge about the changing culture of the church as laid out by Synod Assembly Keynote Speaker.

13 Save these Dates! Sunday, August 11 Sunday Service on August 11 will be 10:30 in the pavilion on the fire company grounds. The annual picnic will follow the service (approximately 11:30). Burgers, hot dogs, and drinks will be provided. Please bring your favorite side dish or dessert. Sign up on the picnic sheet in the narthex if you plan to attend. Feel free to bring a comfy chair. Sunday, September 8, 2013 Rally Day and Grandparent s Day Begin with Breakfast around 9:30 AM Then An Old Fashioned Rally Day Service in church We ll sing those favorite hymns from your childhood-whether that was 3 year ago or 73 years ago-give or take. We will honor our 3 and 4 generation families. Do you know we have at least 30-3 generation families that belong to Trinity and at least two 4 generation families (Bagenstose/Eshbach) and (Page/Swartz/Kiscadden)? The program/worship service is still in the planning stages but you won t want to miss it. To help us get started, or call me (Carol Koch) and tell me your favorite song/hymn from your childhood so we can incorporate it in the service. To get you started, my favorite was Heavenly Sunshine. So far, I have only gotten two more and we need lots more!!!

14 Ministry to the Homebound At our last Social Ministry Committee meeting we discussed the concept of having our church members adopt one of our approximately 15 shut-ins. Twice each year, we discuss who will deliver the poinsettias and Easter flowers to our shut-ins. We thought that if we could find 15 congregational members/families to adopt one shut-in, they could establish an ongoing relationship with that person by delivering these flowers, perhaps sending a birthday card or a thinking of you card, perhaps occasionally calling just to say hello and to let that person know they are not forgotten just because they can no longer get to church. PD visits these folks but they might appreciate another touch. The relationship would be whatever you make it to be. If you would be interested in adopting, would you please let June Rapley, Anne Marie Rinehimer, or Carol Koch know sometime before August 19 th. We ve heard from two of you so far but need more willing volunteers. As students prepare for college, technical, or graduate work, our Endowment Committee can offer you a loan/grant that can help with the price of books. Contact Bob for application forms.
