1 Calendar Upcoming Events Youth News Trunk or Treat Pastors News A Monthly Insight into Grace Lutheran Church Sharing Faith in God s Grace Grace Lutheran Church would like to invite your family to join us for our annual Trunk or Treat at the church parking lot October 28, 6:00-8:00pm. For those who do not know, Trunk or Treat is a fun safe night for children and adults that give parents an alternative choice for this time of year. This is a church event where families decorate their vehicles and children walk around collecting goodies and playing games! This year we will continue with our haunted house. We will be accepting or non-perishable food items at the entrance of the haunted house. These donations will be used towards our various community programs. If you would like to donate decorations or help with the set up or participate please contact Leanna at youth@graceforthejourney.org. If you would like to donate candy there will be boxes for donations in the Narthex. 2 Dear Grace Lutheran Church, It is hard to believe after what seems like a long time I am now sitting in my new office here at Grace. I am sure for you, it has been and seems like a long time as well. All I can say is that I am grateful for the process our church provides for us to match congregations and pastors together. Everything has seemed like a whirlwind since I arrived. My first week was packed full of welcomes and ministries that even though I am sure I only scratched the surface I feel I got a good sense of what you and God are doing in this place. At the end of my first week here we gathered together with interim Bishop Almen to install me as pastor here at Grace (though I must make it clear, despite what some may say, installing a pastor and installing a refrigerator are not quite the same thing). What a blessing and a joy to come together and celebrate the first part of our journey together, and I did feel blessed and welcomed by all of you. I look forward to continuing to work together with each and every one of you in ministry together. I look forward to our conversations and our work. I look forward to our tackling of challenges and problems we face together. I look forward to all the joy we will share, and the opportunity to be there when we experience sorrow. Speaking of working together, if we haven t happened to have the opportunity to talk or meet please feel free to call me at the church or stop by. As we move into fall, many of our ministries are picking up after a time off for the summer. If you would like to be involved in a ministry to learn more about one that you have the skills to help in please don t hesitate to ask about getting involved. There are so many places that we could use your time and talents and our church would truly benefit from it. May God continue to bless us as God has throughout history, and may we bless one another in our encouragement of each other as we do God s work in this world. 3 GLCWM Annual Fall Yard Sale It's time again for Grace Lutheran Church Women's Fall Yard Sale, to be held on Saturday, October 22nd from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Sunday, October 23rd(half-price day) after 8:00 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. church services. This is Grace Lutheran Church Women's Ministry's largest fundraiser of the year, and we greatly appreciate your generous donations. Monies will be used to support programs at Grace Lutheran such as VBS scholarships, youth activities and other donations, by request. Also, a large portion of our funds go out every year to the community, including Kingman Aid to Abused People, Kingman Food Bank, and Advice and Aid Pregnancy Center. Please bring clean, gently-used items (no clothing, bedding or TV's please) to the Youth Room hallway anytime Monday-Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and leave by sign indicated in hallway, or ask Lissa, church secretary, for directions where to leave items. Items may also be brought to the fellowship hall on Friday, October 21st, from 8:00 to 3:00 p.m. while are setting up for our sale. If you are unable to deliver items to the church, please call Diane Hansen at , and she will arrange to pick them up. Annual Quilt Raffle Quilt Raffle will begin in October. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. The raffle will be held at the annual Christmas Tea on December 4th at 1pm. This year there will be the quilt as well as two matching pillows. The quilt is about the size of a twin or full or could be used as a throw. The front that was used was from fabric that was found in a box and already started by an unknown quilt maker. The quilt was then pieced and finished by Fern Campbell and quilted by Marley Becker. The fabric is from the 40 s. This is a very beautiful quilt and with love and care will last for a very long time. Food items are due back no later than November 20th when they will be delivered. If you have any questions or if you know of a family in need please contact the church office. 5 THANK YOU FOR COMING TO BUNKO FOR BABIES On line payment no envelopes October will be a busy month here at Grace Lutheran Child Development Center! The children will have school pictures taken this month as well as special visitors from the Fire Department. We will also be participating in the church's annual Trunk or Treat! At the end of the month we will be doing our yearly fundraiser and will again be selling pies for Thanksgiving made by the KRMC bakery. The school year has had a busy but great start. Your prayers are always much appreciated by the teachers and staff.
