Adjectives Adverbs completely eager extremely actually weirdly Reading : Essay 1 September 11 by Andrea LeBlanc 5 10 On September 11, 2001, the entire world began to see and talk about the differences before and after the September 11. Certainly my family and our lives completely changed. On September 11, 2001, my husband Robert LeBlanc was killed when the second plane hit and crashed into the World Trade Center towers in New York. He had taught cultural geography at the University of New Hampshire for 35 years until he retired in He was on his way to a geography meeting in Los Angels when his plane crashed. He was nothing but a world traveler who was extremely curious about how people live in the world. He was delighted when he found differences in culture. He was always planning four or five trips. On September 10, 2001, he told me that he wanted to travel more in third world countries and that he had already made a long
6 list of places he hadn t been to. He was not daunted by language differences and cultural differences and eager to understand them. He honestly felt that if we attempt to understand the things other people struggle with and the things they celebrate, then we could begin to find a common humanity in all things that will unite us rather than divide us. He was filled with limitless energy and joy about travel. He was extremely eager to help anyone plan their trips. He was more than happy to help them our children, students and friends We raised five children. They are now grown up with families of their own. Every one of us thinks about the empty space that the loss of Bob Robert has left us with. Bob and I were supposed to go to Argentina on the 21st of September after he returned from Los Angeles, and we had tickets to go to India in January the next year. The night of September 10th, we were planning a trip to Scandinavia Robert LeBlanc for the following summer, because I wanted to go back to my ancestral lands. On that day I really thought that we couldn t be any happier. I remember walking with my daughter that day. It was a beautiful, clear fall day and I actually said, I can t imagine I could be happier. Then, she stared at me weirdly, and said, That s so weird. Dad just said the same thing yesterday.. And within 24 hours, he perished. September NOTE 3 LeBlanc 24 Bob Robert After Reading 3. Reading Comprehension 1 Read the essay and circle T True or F False for each statement. 1 T / F Robert LeBlanc died in New York. 2 T / F Robert began teaching at the age of 34.
7 3 T / F Robert was interested in culture differences. 4 T / F Robert and Andrea had just come back from Los Angeles. 5 T / F The sky was clear on the September 11 th. 4.
