On March 18 th the US State Department proposed a United Nations Trusteeship for Palestine as a way of ending the British Mandate instead of Partition. This was seen as a great betrayal by the Zionists. Truman helped get Partition back on track. This document is dated 24 th March, There are no copies on Worldcat or COPAC. [ref: ] PALESTINE DURING THE WAR. - Being a Record of the Preservation of the Jewish Settlements in Palestine. From the Report presented to the Twelfth Zionist Congress at Carlsbad, September, London, Zionist Organisation, Original wrappers, 25 cm., 47 pp., text in English, vertical crease, soiling and creasing to top edge of wrappers and pages, tearing to spine. Stamp 'duplicate' on front cover. The First World War created enormous hardships for the Yishuv. It disrupted the channels that had been used to send money to the Jews in Palestine. As the war progressed many Jews were expelled from Palestine. This documents the attempts to support and preserve the Yishuv. [ref: ] 180

These photographs are slipped neatly between army and personal snapshots. The Bergen Belsen photographs are dated 20 th Arpil 1945, 5 days after the British Army liberated Bergen Belsen.

Many photos, including 9 photographs of bodies and inmates at Bergen-Belsen. The album itself is 23cm w x 15cm h. The photographs of Bergen-Belsen are around 5cm square. These photographs are slipped neatly between army and personal snapshots. The Bergen Belsen photographs are dated 20 th Arpil 1945, 5 days after the British Army liberated Bergen Belsen. This speech heralded a change in Soviet policy and led to the Soviet Union and its satellites voting for Partition on November 29th, This speech may have been the deciding factor in the Partition vote. Issued in response to the opening of a 'Free School' by the London Society For the Promotion of Christianity Amongst the Jews. This was the first of the notices and is milder as it seems to have been issued before the school actually opened. Once opened, Rabbi Hirschel threatened excommunication of parents who sent their children to the school and it was one of the boosts to the establishment of the 'The Jews Free School'. Apart from teaching the children reading, writing and arithmetic, they also provided them with a hot meal each lunchtime and a complete set of clothing.
