Schlesinger Original cloth, no dj, 18cm., 641 pp + iii index, in English and Hebrew. A special edition, with plate on covers of King George VI on his coronation. Gilt edges. Beautifully illustrated throughout. Overall condition is very good, there is some damage to the edge of the plate of King George VI and some minor wear to the corners of the covers. [ref: ] 275

3 4. Hertz, H. J. Dr. Rabbi. - Anti-Semitism. A Sermon Delivered on the First Day of Tabernacles, 5683, at the Central Synagogue, Great Portland Street. London, The Central Synagogue 1922/5683. Original wrappers, 18.5cm. 11pp., text in English with some Hebrew, staples are starting to rust but overall still in very good condition. Back wrapper is illustrated with a photograph of the synagogue. Inner front wrapper is inscribed with 'the wardens' compliments'. In 1921, the first English translation of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion was published and there was a rise in Anti-Semitic activity throughout the 1920s and 1930s. In this sermon Rabbi Hertz refers both to the Protocols and to Lucian Wolf s rebuttal of it. Bradford, cm x 14 cm. Black and white. This was a combined effort between religious representatives and trade unions in Bradford. Hand written on it is Vote of thanks: The Rev J Israelstam. Errata page included was the year of the Anschluss and absorption of Austria under Nazi control. The report summarizes all the activities of the Council and attempts to resettle refugees in a variety of countries. [ref: 6806 ] 150

He argues strongly for the benefits that the refugees will bring and ends off In this matter, magnanimity and interest go hand in hand [ref: 9526 ] Bell, G.K.A. (Bishop of Chichester). - Humanity and the Refugees A Lecture delivered in the Great Hall of University College London on Wednesday February 1st, London, The Woburn Press 1939 Paper 21cm 19pp. Punched for filing, otherwise good. Some spotting to cover, otherwise good. The Bishop provides a long history of the absorption of refugees. [ref: 9506 ] Thomson, Watson. - The Jews in Europe. A broadcast by Watson Thomson, University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, over the National Network of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation on Easter Sunday, April 25th, London National Committee for Rescue from Nazi Terror A moving radio broadcast. Upon us is a higher and harder obligation. Not to pity the Jews, not to. But to rise up and act with all the passion and an awakened human conscience, and save Jewish lives. The booklet lists Nazi atrocities on the Eastern Front and includes pleas from Jews in the Soviet Union. The Committee was formed to "To answer the appeal of Soviet Jewry and promote mutual cultural relations" To achieve this purpose, a Conference of Anglo-Jewish Organisations, Societies and Religious Institutions has been held on August 30th, at the People's Palace, London at which it was decided how British Jewry, in response to the call by Soviet Jewry can render material help to our great Russian Ally in addition to the undertakings of the Anglo-Soviet Alliance, and thus perpetuate the Jewish name in the heroic struggle of the Soviet Union. Abbreviated Code of Jewish Law - Text in Yiddish. Landsberg, Keter, 1946/1947. Original wrappers, 21cm 184 pp. Text in Yiddish. Overall in good condition, pages are age toned and there is a chip out of the front wrapper. Historic Holocaust item, produced for the She aret HaPleateh (Survivors) after the war for use in the DP camps. The last page has dedications by the publishers for members of their families murdered in the Holocaust. and is a rare item of Shearet HaPleatah. [ref: ] 200

This is the revised 1987 version of the speech given in Zellick was a Professor in Law and Dean of the Faculty of Laws at the University of London and at Queen Mary College.
