Dear Parents, Trip 1 Week 3 The girls enjoyed visiting with family and were then very excited to start another amazing week. Among other special activities we had the first annual Camp Dina Dance Off.

It was heartwarming to see their achdus, the respect they showed one another and their incredible dances. One of the signature events for the Dina 7 th graders is the sunset hike.

Our Rebbe - Rebbetzin, shtetel day featured a challah braiding competition, potato kugel making and niggun singing to name a few. All in all, the girls had a grape stomping (literally) great time.

1 Dear Parents, Trip 1 Week 3 The girls enjoyed visiting with family and were then very excited to start another amazing week. Among other special activities we had the first annual Camp Dina Dance Off. Each bunk using their creativity, talent and energy choreographed and performed their own dance. It was heartwarming to see their achdus, the respect they showed one another and their incredible dances. One of the signature events for the Dina 7 th graders is the sunset hike. It was a very clear day and the girls were treated to an awesome sunset! As the week draws to a close we are all looking forward to the beautiful Camp Dina Shabbos experience. Wishing you a beautiful Shabbos!! Natalie Ciner Head Counselor Heads Up from the DH I can t believe another week has gone by! With a few rainy days and many more sunny ones in between, the girls smiles are bright and clear. We switched to the second set of electives this week. The girls chose from zumba, volleyball, culinary arts, and clay. The creativity is just pouring out! They ve made pizza and hot pretzels, clay sculptures and dances. Wednesday night was our first Camp Dina Dance Off. Each bunk had to brainstorm together and create a dance which they presented to the rest of the division it was fun for them to create, and even more fun for the judges to watch! Have a wonderful Shabbos! Suri Bernstein Older Division DH This week has been a week of growth in friendship and connection between the campers. Monday was Mad Scientist day, and campers performed an experiment with colorful and reactive chemicals. Each camper wrote something positive about another girl in her bunk on a puzzle piece, and just as a scientist mixes elements to create something new, the bunk is made up of a mixture of puzzle pieces that is beautiful when complete. On Wednesday bunks participated in the first ever Camp Dina Dance-Off! Each bunk selected a song and choreographed an original and creative dance. Music, coordinated costumes, rhythm, and smiles permeated the room as each bunk proudly performed. The message of unity and cooperation was clear in each dance as bunks incorporated specific dance moves that moved girls from front to back so each girl had a chance to shine, street dancers each performed according to their specific talents, partners wore matching costumes, and campers laughed together on the stage. Thursday was Shtetl Day, where campers enjoyed simcha dancing at lunch and a night activity full of traditional activities such as laundry, potato kugel making, milking cows, making up niggunim, and challah braiding. We are especially proud of bunks Beis, Gimel, Daled, and Hey, who earned 100 stars collectively on their Tefila chart and got an ice cream party as a special treat! The girls come to the pool excited and ready to learn. The girls continued to work on diving. The girls started off with sitting dives and worked their way up to standing dives.

In electives this week we didn t stop moving, To all the fun tunes we kept on grooving!! Pool Happenings Mrs. Shur The Camp Dina swimmers keep getting better and better! The girls come to the pool excited and ready to learn. The girls continued to work on diving. The girls started off with sitting dives and worked their way up to standing dives. Some swim groups worked on the side stroke and continued perfecting the other strokes they learned. The deep water swimmers also worked on stride jumps - trying to keep their heads above the water as they jump into the pool. Happy Swimming! Drama Sarah Levine This week in drama, we were getting ready for our performance next Thursday. Girls displayed their artistic abilities by sketching their work for the background scenery for the show. The drama girls have memorized their lines and the acting choir has been amazing as they sing and dance to their song. We are starting to put all the parts of the show together. We are really psyched to perform our show in front of the camp. ART STUDIO Dena Lipman The art room is full of imagination and pride. We have finished our painting session and we have started clay. The girls in electives have used sculpting clay and even made their own sweet dough clay. Pom-poms of all sizes have bounded out of the art room as key chains, earring, goggleeyed monsters. As always your daughters are wonderful! The Wild Side Chaya Phillips & Sarah Schwartz This was another great week for wilderness starting with the TC overnight on Monday. The TC went white water rafting, and then headed over to the state park to set up our home for the next two nights. On Tuesday, we enjoyed a nice three mile hike, cooked lunch and a walked over to the lake for a late afternoon swim. The TC got to enjoy cooking pizza, grilled cheese, stir fry, and of course s mores over the campfire. The TC had such a great time that not even the rain could ruin their fun. On Thursday afternoon, bunks 12, 13 and 14 boarded the bus and headed to Stokes State Forest in New Jersey. The girls hiked five miles up the mountain, enjoyed a gorgeous sunset followed by cooking hotdogs and s mores over a campfire.

3 SHIUR Mrs. Racheli Staum It was great meeting so many of you on visiting day!! It has been an exciting and meaningful week in Shiur. The girls learned about the importance of having a good work ethic, while making sure not to focus or take advantage of any power that a position may yield. They also learned about the fact that they are the only ones who are responsible for their actions and how they are the ones who motivate themselves. With that being said, there were lively discussions about the importance of surrounding yourself with good, supportive friends who can help you keep on track and doing the right things you so badly want to do!! They now know what to do if they are put in a situation where someone is negatively influencing them. After playing a fun bean hunt activity they also deeply understand the value of each mitzvah and that even if they make mistakes along the way, there is tremendous value in what they did do!! Finally, the last lesson of the week focused on the importance of having a relationship with mentors/ Rabbis who help clarify for us what the right thing to do is in each situation and remove the doubt we might have of looking back and questioning, "did we do the right thing?" Have a wonderful Shabbos, Mrs. Racheli Staum Camp Moms Musings Many Parents have commented during their visit with us on Sunday how happy their daughters are in their camp and how enthusiastic this experience has been. The changes we have made for this year seem to have been received with great results thus far and we are so happy to hear that. We enjoyed seeing everyone and hearing all of your feedback. While positive feedback is always nice to hear, especially when "other" comments can weigh any of us down, we too have felt the positive changes and momentum this summer too. All comments, feedback and reviews are important to us, listened to and taken into consideration. You know that your daughters are our priority and we are committed to them. Our commitment goes much further than just being here to facilitate a happy, safe and meaningful summer experience. We are here to (hopefully) make a difference in their lives and development. Whether we are professional educators, healthcare providers or business people, we are dedicated parents ourselves. We come to Camp Dina because we care. We care about making a difference in childrens lives, making a difference in klal yisroel and nurturing neshamos. We choose to be here. Every one of your girls is beautiful, worthwhile and loaded with potential. Everyone is a work in progress and we see this summer experience as an opportunity for each girl to grow and develop in ways that she cannot in any other environment. The dynamics of being here at Dina are unique and will not be found during the school year, at home, in day camp or on vacation. They are important for her emotional development, refinement of middos, independence, coping skills and more. Each individual's circumstances and personality will factor into the equation as well. We recognize the importance of our roles and your precious ones in our hands. That you chose CDG for her summer, when you have lots of choices, is not lost on us. Thank you. Thank you for your trust, your patience, your understanding and your involvement. For this brief interlude (however long you are associated with us here at Dina) we know that together we are "Team Your Daughter" and for that we share a very special and valuable connection. Culinary Arts Director Shira Reischer The whole camp was smelling so delicious this week, while we baked cinnamon buns, pizza, cookies and finally yummy hot pretzels.

4 Culinary Arts Director Shira Reischer The whole camp was smelling so delicious this week, while we baked cinnamon buns, pizza, cookies and finally yummy hot pretzels. The girls did a fantastic job shaping the pretzels- they looked professional. Some stuffed them with cheese some sprinkled cinnamon and sugar and some with salt. They did a great job. Here is the hot pretzel recipe so you can enjoy at home. Hot Pretzels 1 1/2 tsp dry yeast 3/4 cup water 1 tbs sugar 2 cups flour 1/2 tsp salt Combine yeast water and sugar wait to bubble then add flour and salt. Knead into dough. Shape into pretzel. In a separate bowl mix 1/2 cup water with 1 tsp baking powder. Dip pretzel in this mixture place on cookie sheet for 5 minutes. Sprinkle with salt. Bake at 350 for minutes. Enjoy!
