Gather children for a Large Group time that includes interactive worship, the introductory sketch, and the Bible story. The Stage Script is written for those who gather their preschoolers together from multiple rooms and have a larger space on which to present the Bible story. If you are pulling your children to a rug to one side of your preschool space, you may benefit from using the Rug Script. WORSHIP A Worship Leader and live instruments are recommended to sing along with the music tracks. Encourage children to be active during worship by incorporating the appropriate hand motions. WHAT YOU NEED: Paperclip Memory Verse Card in your Bible at Proverbs 3:5, NCV. You will need a CD player and this month s worship song, Promises, which is included in your monthly files. The dance moves for this song are available on the Hip Hip Hooray! DVD. WORSHIP LEADER: Hello, friends! I am so excited to see you! Today we start a brand new month learning about God together! And this month is all about colors! Yes, it s Colorific! We are going to have so much fun practicing our colors together, and we re going to end the month with a rainbow to help us remember that God keeps His promises! When I ask you this very important question, Who keeps His promises? you say, God keeps His promises. Let s try it. Who keeps His promises? CHILDREN AND WORSHIP LEADER: God keeps His promises. WORSHIP LEADER: Great job! You guys are AMAZING! Now let s sing our new song about God. Everyone stand up and dance with me. (Lead children in singing Promises, this month s worship song.) WORSHIP LEADER: That s right! God keeps His promises. We can trust God. In fact, that s what our memory verse tells us this month. CHILDREN AND WORSHIP LEADER: God keeps His promises. STORY Choose an adult or teenager who relates well to preschoolers to tell the Introductory Sketch. If possible, use the same person for an entire month, as the Host role stays the same each month. Choose an engaging adult to tell the Bible story. This person should be able to command the attention of preschoolers and control the group through animated storytelling. These scripts are written to be told and not read. Advanced preparation is necessary. First Look offers weekly introductory sketch and Bible story videos on the DVD titled Wonder! Look at God s Story. This DVD is available for purchase at OrangeStore.org or as part of your monthly Media Package. INTRODUCTORY SKETCH WHAT YOU NEED: Athletic shorts and T-shirt for the Host to wear; soccer ball; and a GREEN sweatband HOST: (Enter wearing the shorts, T-shirt, and sweatband, dribbling the soccer ball.) And [Host s name] comes from behind. Look at that ball control. [She/he] shoots. And it s GOOD! The crowd goes wild! AHHHH! (Like a crowd yelling but with a whispered voice; then look out at the audience.) Oh, hey, friends! Don t mind me. I m just practicing for my first game of the season. Raise your hand if you ve ever played soccer. I LOVE this game. But do you know what else I love? Colors! Have you ever studied the colors? There are so many beautiful ones, aren t there? Well, when it comes to soccer, my favorite color is GREEN. And not just because of the beautiful green grass field we play on. You see, since I started playing, every time I wear this green sweatband (point), it always helps me play better. It might be my favorite color, which is saying something, because there are SO many awesome colors to choose from. But I have to admit, I m a little bit nervous about soccer this season. We haven t had any games yet just practices but my coach has selected me to play goalie this year! It s SO much pressure. What if a ball gets past me and the other team scores? What if the game is all tied up and I miss a shot and the other team wins at the last second? It s a lot to think about. That s why I ve decided to wear this sweatband. I m hoping it will help calm me down and remind me that if I do my best, I ll be okay! I better go practice. See you guys later! 2018 The ReThink Group. All rights reserved. 4

BIBLE STORY WHAT YOU NEED: A Bible; a shepherd s staff; large box with a bush painted on the side; orange, red, and yellow crepe paper cut into 3-foot lengths and taped to a yardstick; a large sheet to cover the box; and one preselected male SGL to play the role of Moses (NOTE: Preset the box and crepe paper streamers onstage. Cover the box with a sheet and set the streamers on the floor behind the box. Make sure your preselected male SGL volunteer is prepared to say one line, Here I am, at your prompting.) STORYTELLER: (Enter with the shepherd s staff and Bible.) Hello, friends! I m so glad to see you today. You know, I heard [Host s name] talking about the color green. And I wonder: have you ever been to a big green grassy field? Raise your hands if you have. (Pause.) Awesome. You can put your hands down. Do you know what animal loves a grassy field? Maybe this will give you a hint. (Hold out the shepherd s staff.) Or wait, what if I said, BAAAA! Now what animal do you think I m talking about? CHILDREN: Sheep! STORYTELLER: Yes! Sheep. In our TRUE Bible story today (hold up Bible), there was a shepherd out tending to his sheep. You may have heard of him before. His name was Moses. (Walk over the opposite side of the stage from the covered box.) I have already selected a friend here to be our Moses today. Come on up, friend! (Pause as preselected volunteer comes onstage, and hand him the shepherd s staff.) So, Moses was out watching over his family s sheep when something amazing happened. (Walk over the box, stand behind it, and pull off the sheet.) Off in the distance, Moses noticed a bush. (Pick up the crepe paper covered yardstick and wave it back and forth in front of the bush. ) The bush started burning. It was on fire, but it wasn t burning up! The leaves were still green. Moses had never seen anything like it, so he decided to go check it out. (To the volunteer) Come closer, Moses. When he got closer, Moses heard a voice from inside the bush. It was God! He said, Moses, Moses! Moses said... (pause for volunteer to respond). VOLUNTEER: Here I am. STORYTELLER: (Continue shaking the crepe paper streamers.) God told Moses He had an important job for him. God wanted Moses to go talk to a mean king and save God s people who were in Egypt. But Moses was scared to talk to the mean king. He thought he wasn t important enough to talk to a king. But God said, I will be with you. Moses was worried about what he would say, but again God promised, I will be with you. Tell me, friends, does God keep His promises? 2018 The ReThink Group. 6 10 UTES 10 UTES CHILDREN: Yes! STORYTELLER: Yes, He does. You can trust Him with your whole heart. And if He promised to always be with Moses, do you think He ll always with us too? CHILDREN: Yes! STORYTELLER: How about a big round of applause for our awesome volunteer today. (Set down the crepe paper and the shepherd s staff as the volunteer returns to his seat.) Great job! You know, no matter where we have to go, whether it s to school, or to the dentist, or when we re going to sleep in our room at night, God promises to be with us just like He was with Moses. And we can know for sure that God keeps His promises. Did you like that amazing TRUE story? If you did, let me see two thumbs up. (Pause.) Awesome. We can know for sure that God keeps His promises. Tell me: Who keeps His promises? CHILDREN AND STORYTELLER: God keeps His promises. STORYTELLER: Yes, He does! He kept His promise to Moses that He would be with him, and He will keep His promises to us too. Will you pray with me? PRAYER STORYTELLER: Heavenly Father, thank You for the TRUE story of Moses and how You kept Your promise that You would be with him. Help us to remember that You are with us too and we can know that for sure because You love us and always keep Your promises. We love You, too. In Jesus name we pray, amen. OUTRO SKETCH WHAT YOU NEED: The green sweatband from earlier HOST: You know, if Moses can trust that God is with him, I think I can trust God too! What do you think? Do you think that if God was always with Moses, He s always with us too? CHILDREN: Yes! HOST: Absolutely! You know, from now on, when I look at this sweatband, it will be a reminder to me that I m not alone because God is always with me. He made that promise to Moses and He makes it to us too.
