Gather children for a Large Group time that includes interactive worship and the Bible story. The Rug Script is written for those who pull their children to a rug (or area) to one side of their preschool space to tell the Bible story. If you gather your preschoolers together from multiple rooms and have a larger space on which to present the Bible story, you may benefit from using the Stage Script. WORSHIP Use the full mix of the monthly song provided with the curriculum to lead your preschoolers in worship. Encourage children to be active during worship by incorporating the appropriate hand motions. WHAT YOU NEED: Paperclip Memory Verse Card in your Bible at Psalm 119:11. You will need a CD player and this month s worship song, Oh the Bible, which is included in your monthly files. The dance moves for this song are available in the Orange Store. LEADER: Good morning, everyone! It s so good to see you today. I can t wait to sing with you today. But first, tell me: What is with you wherever you go? LEADER: Yes, that s right! God s Word is with us wherever we go. When we go to the store, the park, or our friend s house, the God s Word is always with us. Let s sing our new song about that! (Lead children in singing Oh the Bible, this month s worship song.) Yay! What incredible singers you are. What is with you wherever you go? LEADER: That s right! God s Word is with me wherever I go. Our memory verse tells us that we can hide God s Word in our heart and take it with us wherever we go. Are you ready to do it with me? (Pause.) Let s do it! 4 STORY Choose an engaging adult to tell the Bible story. This person should be able to command the attention of preschoolers and control the group through animated storytelling. These scripts are written to be told and not read. Advanced preparation is necessary. First Look offers weekly introductory sketches and Bible stories on the DVD titled Wonder, Look at God s Story. Note: A story symbol (Activity Page) will be provided each week for you to use in your large group area. You can display the symbols on a screen or simply print and display them in your area. These symbols will be a part of the story review during Small Group time. Below are the symbols for the month: Week 1: Globe Week 2: Handprint Week 3: Clock Week 4: People Week 5: Jesus WHAT YOU NEED: Bible; Story Symbols for June Weeks 1-4 and July Week 1; Handprint Story Symbol, white cardstock, scissors LEADER: Hello all you wonderful, amazing, awesome people! My name is [LEADER s name], and I am so excited to tell you today s Bible story! But before we get to that, let s take a look at some of the other super wonderful things we ve been learning about God s Word. Do you remember when we learned about a very special book that tells us which way to go? What is the name of that very special book? (Point to the Bible Story Symbol. ) Yes! The Bible is the most special book ever! It has God s words written in it for everyone in the world! The Bible is always true and it shows us the way to go, like how to love others,... (Point to the Heart Story Symbol. )... how to talk to God,... (Point to the Praying Hands Story Symbol. )... how to share our stuff,... 5 ... and how no matter where you go in the whole wide world,... (Point to the Globe Story Symbol. )... you can take God s Word with you. Awesome, right? (Pause.) Right! But we re not done yet. No way! I have something wonderful to add. It s why I m so excited to tell you today s Bible story! (Hold up a Bible.) Are you ready to hear the wonderful thing I m going to add today? (Lean in with hand cupped around ear.) I said, are you ready to hear the wonderful thing I m going to add? (Lean in with hand cupped around ear.) Okay, okay, the wonderful thing I m going to add today is... YOU! (Point to the Handprint Story Symbol that has been added, and open the Bible.) The Bible says that... (Point to the kids as you say you. )... God made you and you and you and you. It even says YOU are WONDERFULLY made by God! That s pretty awesome! Look to a friend and say, God made you awesome! (Lay the Bible down.) Let s sing a little song together. Stand up on your feet! All you have to do is sing along with me and do what I do! (Sing the Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes song a few times. Point to each body part as you name them. Begin slowly and get faster each time you sing the song.) CHILDREN AND LEADER: Head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes. 6 LEADER: Yay! That was good! Now let s add another part. Remember to just sing along with me and do what I do. CHILDREN AND LEADER: Eyes and ears and mouth and nose. Head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes! LEADER: One more time! CHILDREN AND LEADER: Eyes and ears and mouth and nose. Head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes! LEADER: Oooo, SO good! Now let s put it all together. Here we go! CHILDREN AND LEADER: (Slowly) Head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes. Head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes. Eyes and ears and mouth and nose. Head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes! LEADER: Faster! (Repeat it faster.) Whew! You can sit down and rest your bodies. What part of the body is on the top? (Touch your head.) Head! That s right! The head is the top of our body. The head is very important because it has our face and our hair and it holds our brain. Do you know the Bible says God knows exactly how many hairs are on your head? It s true! I can t even count that high, but God knows. Okay, so we have the head on our person. What was the next body part in our song? (Listen for response.) Shoulders! Right again! Shoulders are important too because they go with our arms, hands, and bellies. Let me see you pat your belly. (Pause.) There they are! God made this part so we can lift things, and it holds our lungs so we can breathe in and out. It s VERY important to be able to breathe in and out! What came next in our song? (Cup hand around ear and listen for the children.)... KNEES! You got it! Our knees are part of our legs, and our legs help us do cool things like run, skip, and ride a bike! I m SO glad God made us legs! Everyone point to what was next in our song. Head, shoulders, knees, and... TOES! God made us fabulous feet with fun toes that we can wiggle and tickle to make us giggle. Feet help us dance around and tiptoe when we re 2018 The ReThink Group. 7 playing hide-n-seek. They are the best! Hmm, the next part of the song talked about our face. What is on our face? (Pause.) Yes! Eyes and ears and mouth and nose! God gave us eyes so we can see. We read books with our eyes and draw pictures and play games. God gave us ears so we can... what do ears help us do? (Cup hand around ear like you re trying to listen.) I m sorry, what do ears help us do? (Kids respond louder.) Oh, HEAR. That s right. Ears help us hear. And then we have our mouth. What does our mouth do? (Pause.) Our mouth helps us talk, sing, yell, laugh, and my favorite... EAT FOOD! This leaves us with more thing on our face: our NOSE! Everyone take a deep breath through your nose. That s one of the things our noses do. They help us breathe in and out. That s a pretty important job! Another thing our noses do is help us smell yummy food and pretty flowers. (Hold up Bible.) God s Word tells us we were made by God, and THAT is something we can take with us wherever we go. So tell me: What is with you wherever you go? LEADER: Use your mouth to say it louder! LEADER: What is with you wherever you go? LEADER: That s the truth, friends! You better believe it! Let s close our eyes and pray. PRAYER LEADER: Dear God, thank You for making each person here today. Every person is special and wonderfully made by You. I pray we will take that with us wherever we go. We love You, God.
