1 DIFFERENES BETWEEN THE 217 EDITION ND THE 218 EDITION The table below lit the addition, change, deletion (for cro-reference only), and inactivation that were applied to 217 Edition of the BIS Subject Heading Lit (1/217) to create the 218 Edition of the BIS Subject Heading Lit (1/218). While mot of the addition/change/deletion are relatively traightforward, inactivation merit further explanation. ode were inactivated when the literal they repreented were deemed to be one or more of the following: Redundant Not widely ued Eaily confued with other ubject More appropriately lited in a different ection It i highly recommended that inactivated which have already been aigned to ISBN be replaced with active.
