We trongly recommend that you do the Bae Camp Sing & Play eion a written with everyone together. With all the kid together, the energy i electric. Thi time i deigned to be a high-energy, exciting time of worhip for kid. It hard to duplicate that kind of enthuiam when only ome of your kid are taking part. Here What You Need to Know Bae Camp Sing & Play i the firt tation kid will viit each day, where they ll ing fun ong and dicover the concept they ll be learning. After worhiping at Bae Camp Sing & Play, everyone can tart the day with a mile. Summit Celebration i the lat tation each day, where everyone gather for lot of fun-filled, audienceinvolving activitie that will reinforce what they ve learned. If you re leading both Sing & Play and Summit Celebration, you ll be the firt and lat tation leader kid will ee each day! Sound like fun? You bet! Traditionally, opening inging time and cloing wrap-up have each had a eparate leader manual. Through field-teting and cutomer feedback, we ve realized that the ame peron uually lead both tation. So to make it impler for you, we ve put all the material in one eay-to-ue manual. Ak God to prepare your heart and the heart of the kid and leader who will be part of your VBS. Thank God for the life-changing meage of hi love and power! Decide if you ll ue the Trek Rockrambler kit in your program. We ve intentionally kept the kit imple o they re eay for churche of all ize to put on. However, ome VBS director love to do more elaborate production. Go for it! Jut remember to keep the humor imple, and follow a baic tory line that give a tate of what kid will experience each day at VBS. And be ure to practice ahead of time! You may even ak your Director or other helper to it in the audience during your rehearal to be ure kid will be able to hear and ee the action. You ll want to be familiar with all of the ong and motion o you can teach them with eae. Chooe how you ll lead the muic. You have two option: Have kid ing along with the Bae Camp Sing & Play Muic CD or DVD or ue live accompaniment, uch a a keyboard or worhip band. All of the elementaryage children are together for the Bae Camp Sing & Play opening and Summit Celebration cloing tation, o you ll need a large room, uch a a anctuary or fellowhip hall. (Prechooler join with everyone at Bae Camp Sing & Play on Day 2-5, but they have their own cloing time at the end of each day.) 6 Build God Sighting Pole. Work with your Everet Director to build God Sighting Pole for your Bae Camp Sing & Play area. For the ultimate in eae, ue PVC pipe and twine. (See page 7 in thi manual for intruction.) Encourage God Sighting! Everyone will be looking for evidence of God in action during your Everet VBS week. It might be a hug, a prayer, or an amazing unet ign of God aweome love for u. On Day 1 during KidVid Cinema, kid will each receive a Watch For God Writband to wear throughout the week a a reminder to look for God in action. Get a writband from your Director o you can become a chief encourager of God Sighting! Create a Summit VIP eating area. Your VBS Director will invite parent, grandparent, and babyitter to come to each day cloing. Thee Summit VIP" Very Important Porter can it in the deignated area and enjoy each day how! Each day leon give idea for affirming them. (If you ue the Acent Youth Manual, teenager will decorate the Summit VIP ection a a ervice project.) Ue the church ound ytem to play the muic. What an eay way to create an upbeat etting for praiing God! If you can t ue the ound ytem, plan to have a helper hold a microphone near the equipment o the muic will be loud enough for everyone to hear. Practice with the microphone. Learn how to turn it on, how to replace batterie, how to clip it to your hirt or remove it from the tand, and o on. A microphone will enure that everyone can hear what you re aying. Have an extra microphone on hand for the variou time when kid hare with the large group. Ue an attention-getting ignal. Attention-getting ignal let kid know when it time to top what they re doing and look at you. You can ue the Yak Bell (available from Group Publihing or your Group VBS upplier) or another ignal of your choice. The firt time children come to your tation, introduce and reheare the attention-getting ignal. Once the kid are familiar with the ignal, you will automatically regain their attention when you ue it. No huhing on Everet! Repeat the daily Bible Point often. Every activity at Everet VBS focue on one imple, memorable Bible truth called the Bible Point. After kid ay or hear each Bible Point, they will grap their forearm and hout, Hold on! Hold on!

7 Be brief a you teach new ong motion! Be careful not to get too focued on motion and loe the ene of joy and worhip. Before you ing each ong, briefly teach kid the new motion or review the motion they ve already learned. You can alo call out each motion during each ong jut before kid hould begin doing it. Let the motion be a fun part of the inging time, not the main emphai. Let kid help lead the inging. At the beginning of the week, invite all kid whoever want to to come up front and ing. By midweek, mot of the children will be front and center! It a highlight of every Group field tet! It great having children lead each other in worhip. At Everet VBS, you ll encourage kid and adult to look for God Sighting everyday clue that God i preent, paionate, and powerful. A God Sighting i imply an acknowledgment that God ha done omething. It giving God credit where credit i due. It developing a God-focued view and a grateful heart. Kid and adult will dicover that they can ee God in thing like Scripture, people, circumtance, and nature. A participant even prechooler make God Sighting part of everyday life, their faith will grow. Why? Becaue they ll actually ee God at work. Not becaue he uddenly hown up, but becaue they finally have eye to ee and at lat, they re looking. On Day 1, kid learn about God Sighting at Summit Celebration. Then beginning on Day 2 at Bae Camp Sing & Play, Crew will circle up o each peron can tell one way they ve een evidence of God. While kid hare how they ve een God in action, they ll pa around a God Sighting Flag that ha the day Bible vere on it. (Be prepared to hear amazing inight from kid!) Then a Crew member will tape the God Sighting Flag to the line on the God Sighting Pole in the Bae Camp Sing & Play area. On Day 2, Crew will hang the flag with the Day 1 vere and talk about the Day 1 Bible Point. On Day 3, they'll hang the Day 2 flag; on Day 4, the Day 3 flag; and on Day 5, Crew will hang the flag for both Day 4 and 5. All week, kid will love eeing the colorful flag flying high to how the way God i at work in their live and in the world!

9 Building Your God Sighting Pole To help kid ee God at work in their live, prepare God Sighting Pole to place in the Bae Camp Sing & Play area. Here how we made our! 1. Cut each PVC pipe down to 8 feet. (Many building upply center will cut the pipe for you.) 2. Spray paint the pole black, if deired. 3. At the top of each pole, drill a mall hole about 2 inche from one end, and crew in the crew eye. 4. Then on half of the pole, add a cleat. Hold the cleat about midway on the pole, and make a pencil mark where the crew will go. Predrill the hole, and crew the cleat on. All of the pole will have a crew eye at the top, and half of the pole will have a cleat at the middle. 5. Ue clamp to attach a God Sighting Pole to a chair or to each end of a pew. The pole with cleat hould all be on the ame end of each row. 6. Tightly tie twine or jute to the crew eye on the pole without cleat. Run the twine to the oppoite pole, and lip it through the crew eye. Pull the line fairly taut but not o tight a to bend the pole. Meaure out at leat 6 feet of additional twine, and cut. 7. Tie a waher to the end of the twine to keep it from lipping through the crew eye. Wrap the extra line around the cleat to keep the line taut. 8. To make ure Crew attach the God Sighting Flag on the twine between the pole, tape a mall piece of curling ribbon to the twine where it lip through the crew eye. When it time for Crew to add their flag, they will unwrap the line from the cleat and lower the line. When the new flag are taped in place, they can pull the line taut and wrap the cord around the cleat again. For each et of pole, you ll need two 1-inch diameter PVC pipe (PVC pipe i old in 10-foot length) black pray paint (optional) two crew eye one cord cleat (include crew) one ½-inch waher Other upplie: hackaw or other PVC pipe cutter tape meaure pencil drill twine or jute two large clamp hort piece of curling ribbon tape

Anything from a handful of coin to a check i welcome! When kid bring in their donation, they ll drop them in the deignated bucket in the Imagination Station room. Each day you ll remind kid of their pecial miion. At the end of the week, the Imagination Station Leader will give the donation to you o you can let kid know how many Bible their donation will upply. Trek: (Scream inide tent, make tent hake and wobble. Finally unzip tent and tumble out, looking diheveled and wearing funny pajama and holding an alarm clock and a heet of paper. Look around frantically.) (Calling) Marvin! George! Gertrude! Wait up, you guy! (Spie Leader and grab him or her by the houlder, haking the Leader hyterically.) Have you een them? Where are they? Leader: Who are you looking for? And who are you? Trek: (Put head in hand, looking completely ditraught.) I m Trek Trek Rockrambler. (Without emotion a if it really doen t matter) World famou mountaineer. Hiker extraordinaire. (Paue.) Guy who really like to climb tuff. Leader: Hi, Trek. A Elijah fled from King Ahab and hi wife, Jezebel, Elijah hit one of the lowet point in hi life he even told God he had had enough and aked God to end hi life! No wonder Elijah deperately needed God comfort. Jezebel, the powerful queen of Irael, wanted to kill him; he wa the only prophet in Irael erving God, a Jezebel tried to have all the other prophet of God killed, and the few who were left were in hiding; and even after God had demontrated hi great power, Jezebel till wouldn t worhip God. Be ure to take a cooler with you to the tore! See if the Spotlight VBS Leader ha the how ready to go. Put two paper towel for each Crew member near each Crew ign. Set a table up front. Cover it with one of the tablecloth. Cut off the top third of the platic container. After teting everal platic oda bottle and milk jug, we ued a 1-gallon platic Hawaiian Punch bottle. The label wa eay to remove, and the hape of the container made it eay to add the dry ice. Fill the container with warm water. To make ure the water i warm during the experiment, fill the container with hot water 15 minute before your Summit Celebration. When you re ready to ue it, the water will be the perfect temperature. Place the container of water on a tray in the center of the table. Be ure the container i viible from the back of the room. For increaed viibility, elevate the container by placing it on an overturned platic bucket. Set the cooler of dry ice, glove and tong, food coloring, and dih oap cloe by. Recruit at leat two volunteer for every roll of white platic table covering you ll ue. One volunteer will tand at the front and hold on to one end of the roll while the other peron will unroll the covering from the front to the back of the room, covering the Crew. Once the Crew are covered, the volunteer in back can cut the covering from the roll and hold on to the end at the back. Both volunteer hould continue to hold the length of platic covering over Crew. 71 Day 4 Summit Celebration Get Ready See if the Spotlight VBS Leader ha the how ready to go. Find a volunteer to wear the robe and play the part of Jeu; have the actor review hi part on page 72. Place a turdy table front and center. Set a 2-foot by 3-foot piece of plywood in the center of the table. Place the cinder block on the center of the plywood. Cover it all with the bright-colored tablecloth. Carefully, cut out the part of the tablecloth that cover the top of the cinder block. Expoing the rough texture of the block will prevent the block of ice from lipping. Ak a volunteer to help prepare and ditribute the ice for today activity, a follow: Carefully looen and remove one of the block of ice from it platic mold. Gently place the block back inide the mold, and place it in a cooler filled with ice. Be ure the mold i urrounded by ice but that the ice doe not cover the top of the ice block. Place thi cooler out of ight behind your table. Looen another block of ice, and remove it from the econd mold to make ure it i olid. Gently place the block back inide the mold, and return the mold to the freezer. Ten minute before your Summit Celebration begin, remove thi block of ice from the mold and place it in the 5-gallon bucket that Jeu will carry. Place the bucket out of ight behind your table. Make a mall bag of ice for each Crew by placing approximately 12 ice cube in a andwich-ize reealable platic bag. Store the bag in a econd cooler filled with ice. Have a helper ditribute a bag of ice cube to each Crew Leader a he or he enter the Summit Celebration area. Recruit a trong volunteer to help you remove the block of ice from the cooler and place it on the table at the beginning of the Jeu Pick Up the Piece activity. Nice word or action can t mend thi and make it perfect and whole again. Pick up the piece of ice on the table and try to put them back together. Even if I got all the piece together again, it would be cracked and imperfect. I can t do it. But God love u o much that he doen t want our friendhip with him to be broken. Say: Crew Leader, huddle up with your Crew and hold the bag of ice in the center of your Crew, where everyone can touch it. Paue. Crew member, reach out with a few finger and touch the bag. At firt, it feel cool. The ice feel kind of good. Keep your finger on it. Paue. After a while, the ice begin to hurt. It get painful. It make u uncomfortable, jut like in. A you touch the bag, think of omething that you ve done or not done that ha broken your friendhip with God. Paue. God knew that no matter how hard we tried by being nice or good or kind we couldn t fix the broken relationhip. There nothing we could do. You may think that if you hold thi ice long enough, it will go away. But it won t; it only change. Only Jeu ha the power to take away in. Field Tet Finding When our Summit Leader hit the block of ice the firt time, intead of hattering, it broke into two piece. So he hit the ice a few more time, cauing it to hatter. Even though it didn t go exactly a planned, both kid and Crew Leader were hocked! It wa uch a powerful way to viualize how in hatter our relationhip with God!

74 Field Tet Finding When Jeu entered the room, Crew jumped up and moved into the aile to touch him. We loved it at firt! Unfortunately, a more kid tood, Crew Leader truggled to pa the bag of ice to Jeu. Kid who were tanding alo blocked the view of Jeu during the ret of the cloing. Inviting Crew to tay eated a they ing will give everyone a powerful experience and point of view.
