Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of Rochester. This interactive video will provide information on various topics as they relate to Alzheimer s disease and other dementia. Join Joe Joseph Sales Representative from JFS Distributors, to learn about the different types of meats that are prepared here at the Highlands. Also a lateral tasting of a regular choice cut of box meat (no aging), wet age and dry aged will be had to taste. The Highlands Beef is American, mid-western grain fed from only northern cattle ranchers, hand selected and aged for a minimum of 30 days, which naturally creates a deep rich flavor and considerably more tender cut. For over two decades Karen and Ted Moore have shared their passion for sailing. Their trips have taken them into most ports and bays. Exploring the Thousands Islands was always special. Ted will share with you the uniqueness of the three bodies of water, the skills and the knowledge required for sailing, and some of their memorable adventures. The group provides updated information, emotional support, and problem solving as related to the challenges of giving care to those living with Alzheimer s disease or other dementia. Monday, March 5 th at 2:00pm University of Rochester Courses: Dr. Woods has authored or co-authored over one hundred forty articles on communication in medicine, maternal drug addiction, complications of pregnancy and clinical research. Since 1991, he has been the editor-in-chief of the Peri-FACTS OB/GYN Academy, an international on-line educational program for OB/GYN care providers combining articles, clinical cases, grand rounds lectures and teaching videos. He has been named in Best Doctors in America for many years. In 2010 Dr. Woods was honored by the American College of OB/GYN with the Outstanding Service Award for District II for his tireless efforts in the area of obstetric patient safety. Dr. Woods has lectured extensively on communication in obstetrics. He has pioneered strategies for transforming some of the most challenging clinical interactions with patients after adverse outcomes into extraordinary opportunities for compassionate communication between clinicians and their patients and family members. Wisdom in the Hebrew Bible Tuesday, March 13 th 27 th at 2:00pm This is a 3-week lecture series focusing on Wisdom texts and traditions in the Hebrew Bible: Proverbs, Job, and Ecclesiastes. These texts grapple with timeless, perennial, and intractable issues of being human -- How to lead a good life? How can we understand the suffering of innocent people? Is God just? How can we find meaning in our lives? Anne Merideth is a Senior Lecturer in Religion and Director of Undergraduate Studies for the Department of Religion and Classics at the University of Rochester. She received a master of theological studies from Harvard and PhD and masters from Princeton. She teaches a range of biblical topics, such as, women in the Bible, Biblical Economy, and Judaism in the Ancient World. She teaches with a historical and cultural perspective rather than from a theological perspective. Soaring toward Mount Rushmore: Frederick Douglass Remembered Well Monday March 19 th at 2:00pm Larry Hudson, PhD specializes in the field of American History, specifically early nineteenth century slavery. Some of Larry s course offerings at The University of Rochester include Abraham Lincoln s America, African-American History, and The Civil War. His publications include To Have and to Hold : Slave Work and Family Life in Antebellum South Carolina and All that Cash : Work and Status in the Slave Quarters. Larry received his PhD from Keele University, U.K.

17 17 UR In Tune Lecture Offering: The Swedish Nightingale Visits Rochester with Gerry Szymanski Thursday March 22 nd at 4:00pm In the summer of 1851, the arrival of singing sensation Jenny Lind created a wave of excitement in the City of Rochester. How did she get here? Where did she perform? What did she sing? This lively lecture will explain all and show the direct connection between her concerts and the founding of the Eastman School of Music! Join Gerry Szymanski for an in-depth look at how this Swedish soprano influenced music in nineteenth century Rochester.
