It is an annual celebration held every 14th of Adar, or Adar II in leap years, which is a month in the Hebrew calendar. Purim is also a day when the Jewish people perform various merry-making activities like plays, pageants and masquerades. Wearing masks and various costumes are popular and some communities even allow cross-dressing, seeing it as in spirit with the jovial theme of the holiday. PASSOVER 2013, MARCH 25TH APRIL 2ND Pesach (Passover) begins on the night of the fifteenth day of the month of Nissan and lasts for eight days. This holiday commemorates the departure of the nation of Israel from Egypt. Pesach marks the birth of the Jewish people as a nation led by Moshe (Moses) over 3000 years ago. This is a as much a Celebration of our spiritual freedom as the physical liberation from slavery. The highlight of Pesach is the observance of the Seder, a unique ceremony performed on the first two evenings of Passover. At the Seder, we eat different special foods, we tell the story of our departure from Egypt, we sing songs and praises, and say special prayers.

2 Page 2 Sweets Day at B nai B rith On Thursday February 21, 2013 residents at B nai B rith celebrated Sweets Day with Ann Marie. Residents enjoyed this special day with each other while they also had a light brunch and plenty of special treats on this day. To make the day even more special, each resident got a goody bag to take with them. Thanks to all the residents who attended to make this a wonderful day!!! A highlight in the Spring is to decorate eggs for the Easter Season RESIDENTS CELEBRATE WITH MICHAEL FISHTEYN ON TUESDAY FEBRUARY 26, 2013, MICHAEL FISHTEYN BROUGHT HIS MUSICAL TALENTS TO OUR RESIDENTS AT B NAI B RITH. THEY ENJOYED OVER AN HOUR OF SOME OF THE BEST PIANO PLAYING AROUND!!!
