WHY do we practice Judaism? WHY do we beong to Tempe Soe? WHY is there vaue to a contribution beyond membership dues? WHY is it important that we accept responsibiity for the future of Soe resting in our hands? For each of us, these are very persona questions and we probaby a have our own WHYs. To be honest, it took some time but after thinking about it, I reaize I have more WHYs than I ever imagined. I want my chidren to fee they beong to a community with simiar vaues, traditions and history; I worry that the Jewish community continues to shrink, and that someday, we wi be so sma that we are irreevant; I fee comforted by the fact that Tempe Soe provides me pace where, no matter our poitica viewpoints, we share a common goa as a community of making sure the truths and horrors of the Hoocaust are never forgotten and that we band against the abhorrent viewpoints of neo-nazi s and white supremacists; and I am creating community and support before I truy need it. Have you given thought to your persona WHY? Once you know your WHY - pease participate. Pick one activity, program, cass, service, committee, or event to be a part of. Give a moment of your time because Tempe Soe has much to offer. Join the rabbi search committee, contribute to our Atideinu campaign, stay the night in the interfaith sheter, join a havurah, attend the gaa, or attend a shiva minyan. Every Friday, just as the sun was setting, they woud head out into the grassy his: singing and praying as they marked the Sabbath s arriva together. These rabbis had no need for a forma sanctuary, or dressy cothing to hep them get in the mood. A they required was an inspiring outdoor setting, and a group of friends to share the moment with. Four hundred years have passed, but not much has changed. This summer, pease join us as we foow their ead and continue our summertime tradition. *Throughout the months of June, Juy, August, and September a of our Friday evening services wi be hed outside! Dress casuay. Bring your famiies. Reconnect with od friends, and come to make new ones.
