In communities or on campus, each Chabad Center is an address to turn to in time of need. In our own region, the Chabad Center of Northwest New Jersey was established 27 years ago by a small group of volunteers. The Chabad Center has grown into a multifaceted network of social, religious and charitable programs with six community centers under its auspices. Additionally, an innovative Educational Center, the first of its kind in Northwest NJ, provides unique and meaningful opportunities for children and adults of all ages. Although the Center s framework is deeply rooted in Jewish tradition, it conducts many nonsectarian programs in conjunction with local school districts, hospitals, police departments and municipalities. Acceptance of every individual, regardless of background or financial status, is the Chabad Center s hallmark. Judaism emphatically teaches that we must never judge - and always embrace - another. The warm welcome and loving atmosphere one will find at Chabad reflects this fundamental teaching in a manner that is legendary. The men and women who support the work of Chabad have brought the pleasant light of Judaism into main stream society. With this dinner, we wish to honor outstanding individuals who have made a strong commitment to making a difference in the world. We hope that you will join us.

5 The New Chabad Educational Center ENGAGING THE MINDS, HEARTS AND SOULS OF OUR FUTURE An expansion of Chabad s primary campus located at One Torah Way, the bustling Chabad Educational Center is a culmination of years of hard work and planning. The new three story Educational Center is wholly devoted to providing innovative educational opportunities for our precious young and adult populations. The Center offers a state of the art Early Learning Center, Hebrew School, Hebrew High, Adult Education Institute and the first Community Mikvah to be established in Northwest New Jersey. Through promoting academic excellence, providing a welcoming and nurturing atmosphere and maintaining unwavering dedication to each and every student, the Chabad Educational Center will ensure that the spiritual vitality and scholarship of our eminent heritage is transferred to future generations. In the modern era, a crisis has arisen. Many men and women have never been exposed to the core spiritual values of our heritage. Bright minds and caring hearts are often unaware of principles which would likely lend great meaning and purpose to their daily lives. As a result, we have what is known as a shrinking Jewish population. Without intimate study and personal knowledge, one cannot expect future generations to pursue the spiritual pathways of their ancestry. We cannot dictate the choices our children will make as they mature into grown men and women. However, we can educate - so that choices are not made in a vacuum. Empowered with knowledge and insight, young adults will make informed choices. Practical experience has shown that a Torah based education conveyed with affection, sincerity and consistency yields significant spiritual appreciation and growth. The success of any morally and spiritually sound society hinges on the pertinence and quality of its educational process. Character development, spiritual consciousness and selfless devotion to the betterment of humanity have always stood at the forefront of every bonafide Jewish educational system. It is this conviction that defines the mission of the New Chabad Educational Center as it strives to serve the diverse needs of the greater community. With G-d s help, we will succeed.
