Each Sunday in June, services will be held at 8:45 in the Chapel, at 9:00 in Gilmour Hall, and at 10:00 in the Sanctuary. Good news: First Presbyterian Church now hosts Phoenix Hometown Hires' Life Skills program on Wednesday evenings in the Cameron Center. Please come on Wednesday, May 18th at 6pm in Boney Hall to share in fellowship and learning. After the meal, there will be an information session about the work of Phoenix Hometown Congregation Member, Terry Smith,along with Daniel Mudrow and Will Rickard of Phoenix Hometown Hires greet folks coming to FPC for the Phoenix Hometown Hires Lifeskills dinner FPC hosts on Wednesdays. Working with the Interfaith Refugee Ministry, our church will soon have the privilege of assisting a refugee family, arriving in late May or early June. There is plenty to be done to prepare for their arrival and to help

them adapt to their new home. Visit the Refugee Tree in the Coffee Room to find out what you can contribute in the way of household items or gift cards.

The contact person for the large item donations is Janice Clark (ocean7476@aol.com). Remember, this family will have NOTHING after living for years in a refugee camp and anything will be appreciated.

We do ask that used items be gently used. Also, cash contributions can be made to support this ministry by writing checks to FPC with Refugee Relocation Fund in the memo line. Since this is a ministry of service, personal time and talents are greatly needed. Please prayerfully consider working with the refugees to provide transportation, language instruction, tutoring, shopping assistance, etc., besides just being a friend. HELP US HONOR RECENTLY DECEASED VETERANS First Presbyterian's History Committee is creating a Library display recognizing any Church members who have died since last Memorial Day, and who had served in our military. So as not to overlook any such member, please take a moment and share: the member's name; military branch(es) served; and years of such service, if known. Two families with nine children (ages 1 10) are in the Interfaith Hospitality program that plan to stay at our church the week of June 5th 12th. The congregation can help! SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES ABOUT TO CLOSE Mozell Howie 2016 Peacemaking Scholarship for High School Seniors The Presbytery will offer two $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors (members of a Presbyterian church within Coastal Carolina) enrolling in college by the fall of An essay sharing how you participated in God's work of peacemaking is required. Averette Scholarships Any rising college freshman, sophomore, junior or senior can apply for this need based scholarship. Past recipients can also reapply. SUMMER CHANCEL CHOIR OPPORTUNITY The Chancel Choir will be meeting on Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m. in June and July to rehearse for the 10:00 a.m. worship beginning Memorial Day weekend. DOMONIQUE LAUNEY CONCERT CANCELED; PORT CITY MUSIC FESTIVAL HAPPENS IN JUNE Concert Canceled Domonique Launey has had to cancel the MAF concert previously scheduled for May 22 due to eye surgery. Cookies in the Courtyard fellowship has returned! Please consider signing up for several Sundays. It is so easy! You and your family just scoot out of the sanctuary during the last hymn, go to the coffee room the cookies (take one container of cookies or put them on a plate), cups and napkins are in the cabinet above the counter. The lemonade is in the upstairs refrigerator in Gilmour Hall. Take them out to the courtyard and serve a table will be set up. This is a fun and easy way to volunteer and our children love it! CONSIDER A PENTECOST OFFERING The Pentecost offering helps the church encourage, develop, and support its young people, and also address the needs of at risk children. 40% of the Pentecost offering can be retained by individual congregations wanting to make an impact in the lives of young people within their own community. The remaining 60% is used to support ministries of Young Adult Volunteers, Ministries for Youth, Children at Risk through the PCUSA. Pentecost is this Sunday, May 15. For information click here. PCC MAY CENTERPOINT Do you know someone who has been touched by the anguish of marital infidelity? Few life experiences are more emotionally painful. Contrary to what many people imagine, infidelity has less to do with the attraction of the newfound "love" and more to do with the individual's inner turmoil.
