1 DIOCESE OF WEST MALAYSIA DIOCESAN PRAYER CYCLE FOR THE MONTHS OF JANUARY MARCH 2007 Day 1 January- March 2007 Uphold our Bishop, the Rt. Rev Tan Sri Dr Lim Cheng Ean and his wife Deaconess Puan Sri Amy Lim, as they prepare for their retirement. Pray for the Bishop-Elect Ven. Canon Ng Moon Hing and his family that God will bless Archdeacon Moon Hing as he embarks on his new ministry with God given wisdom to carry out his new responsibilities. Pray for the organizing Committee as they plan for the consecration and enthronement service of the New Bishop on 5 th May Day 2 Rt. Rev. Pray that they will continue to guide the Diocese towards a vision of one mind and one heart. Pray for God s wisdom and blessings upon them as they carry out their responsibilities in the Diocese. Dr. Andrew Cheah, Cathedral Clergy, Deaconesses, Church Workers, and the Council Members and staff; Pray for the young adults and for their contemporary service- that more lives will be touched and transformed by the power of God. Day 5 Pray for the Diocesan Bahasa Malaysia Committee, led by Dr. Teoh. Pray that God will multiply this work and that more workers will come forward to build new congregation members. Pray that the Diocesan approved Holy Communion order of service will be ready for use soon. For the churches in the Upper North Archdeaconry: Christ Church Archdeacon Canon Andrew Phang and for his leadership as Chairman of St. Nicholas Home. For Rev. Ho Kong Eng (NSM) and his family St. Thomas Kulim, Rev. George Michael, Pray that this small congregation will grow and that they will have sufficient resources to develop the vacant land adjacent to the church. Bukit Mertajam Anglican Center; Rev. Wong Chee Seong and his family as they begin their new ministry in this church. For the New Life Center, Arau, Perlis that reaches out to the members of the army camp. Pray for the outreach ministry in Langkawi. Pray for those who are involved in the prayer ministry; for prayer warriors, those who pray for the sick, visit hospitals. Pray that God will bless them with the gift of healing and patience. Pray for all medical staff in the church- for their role as care givers and healers. Page 3 of 12 Day 8 The Lower North Archdeaconry St. Peter s Church Archdeacon Ng Moon Hing and the mission work involving the Orang Asli and the various new-village ministries. St Paul's Centre Spooner Road, Pray for protection from theft. Seven computers and printers were stolen in May. Pray for wisdom and blessings for volunteers and families in the English classes, tuition, sewing, cooking, prayer healing and kindergarten. Day 9 St. Peter's Church Bagan Serai, Dss. Samadial Samuel, pray for support for their fund raising project to restore the church kitchen and to buy a vicarage. Church of the Holy Cross, Sitiwan, Rev. Franklin Benjamin, thank God that the Tamil and Bahasa Malaysia congregation members are growing steadily. St. Andrew s Church Bidor, Dss. Chan Ooi Fong, pray for their outreach work at Gereja Charis, Cold Stream and Good News Church, Sungkai Day 10 The Central Archdeaconry, St. Thomas Church Banting, Archdeacon Samuel John; Pray for all the out lying work that they may grow and become self sufficient. St. James Church, Rev. David Alagumalai, There are many challenges in the church, pray that God will equip the laity and the clergy to face these challenges. Rev. John Peramaloo and work at Assarippu Kudaram, Bkt. Darah. St Matthew s Church Selayang, Rev. David Devapitchai. Pray for more support for the tuition and tailoring classes, the gotong royong project for the community. Pray that they will continue their faithful witness. Jacob Bau Chiang Hui who was instituted and inducted as Vicar of Our Saviour s Church, Salak South, Kuala Lumpur on Sunday, 22nd October 2006 at 10.30am in the setting of the Holy Communion service, Pray that God will empower him to serve with a sense of commitment and dedication. Pray for the Anglican lecturers Dss. Margaret Chen, and Dean of Studies Rev. Tan Jin Huat. Pray for the new students in the college. Day 13 Pray for the Prince of Peace Chrcuh Building project at Putrajaya. Praise God for the ¾ acres of land given by the Government to build an Anglican Church there. Pray for the building project which is estimated to cost RM 5 million. Pray for the chairman, Tan Sri Dato Dr. Alfred James and all committee members who will oversee this project. Page 5 of 12 Diocesan Women s Conference- For the organizing committee that is planning for the conference this year at Copthorne Orchid Hotel from 4 to 6 June Day 14 Continue to stand in the gap for our nation. Pray for the Army, Navy, Air Force and Police forces, for all the officers, and all personnel. Pray that God will guide them as they carry out their various responsibilities with diligence and care. Pray for all Parliamentarians that they may exercise moral judgment with care and compassion. Grant to them wisdom to discern and mutual respect for one another Day 15 Pray for God s wisdom and guidance upon the handling of the Diocesan property at Jalan Tengah, Kuala Lumpur and Bukit Tengah, Penang. Thank God for the signing of the supplementary agreement with E&O and The Lion group. Pray for our Companion Diocese the Diocese of Lichfield and for Rev. Dr. Michael Sheard who coordinates the many programmes that promote our partnership in mission. Pray for churches which are to be linked up in prayer through the Cross talk project and St. Chad s exchange project. Day 16 Pray for the clergy who will taking up new responsibilities in different parishes in the Diocese Rev. Dr. Vijendra Daniel as vicar of the Parish of St. Barnabas, Klang, Selangor, Rev. David Cheong Kin Fat as priest-in-charge of All Souls Church, Cameron Highlands, Rev. Wong Chee Seong as Vicar of the Church of The Redeemer, Butterworth, Penang, Page 6 of 12

4 Rev. Lionel Gan Beng Huat as priest-in-charge of St. Stephen s Church, Yong Peng, Johor and St. James Church, Batu Pahat, Johor, Rev. Dr. Albert S. Walter as Vicar of St. Peter s Church, Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur. Rev. David Devapitchai as priest-in-charge of St. Matthew s Church, Selayang Day 17 For the Eastern Archdeaconry: St Andrew s Church, Kuala Terengganu Archdeacon Charles Samuel. Thank God for the blessing of being made a Parish. Pray that the congregation will be blessed with a piece of land to build a church for the Anglican congregation. Thank God for the new premise that the church moved into since August last year. Pray for the Student ministry and the new challenges that the church faces. St. Joseph s Church Kemaman Terengganu and for Rev. Christopher Dalie as he ministers to the people. Lay Reader Mr. Wilson s work amongst the Iban community. Thank God for the growing ministry amongst the Iban community. Day18 St. Martin s Church Kota Baru; for Rev. Rueben Daniel, for the wardens as they extend their pastoral assistance to the church; for Mr. Arthur De Silva, Mrs. Silva and Mrs. Sylvia Dunuk; for the Sarawakian families in Kok Lanas for Mrs. Sylvia Dunuk; pray for more volunteers for the mission work to reach the University students and the families in the army camp. Thank God for the new church worker at Emmanuel Church Kok Lanas- Lily Mayer Church of the Epiphany Kuantan, Rev. Jeremiah Lee, thank God for the newly renovated church and for the members who contributed generously towards this project. The work amongst the Orang Asli in Tasik Cini, the Tamil and the Chinese congregation members in the church Page 7 of 12 Day, 19 Day 20 Pray for the nation; for our King, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, DPM Datuk Najib Tun Razak, Cabinet Ministers and all in authority. Give thanks to God for the blessings we continue to enjoy. Pray for better understanding and tolerance amongst religions in this land. Pray that extremism in all religions will be weeded out and that the people may learn to respect each other despite their differences. Remember and pray for the Southern Archdeaconry; Christ Church Archdeacon Batumalai, pray for increased growth here and for the church s aim to move away from maintenance to mission. St. Mary s Chapel, Segamat, Pray that a suitable person will be sent to this church to minister to the people. Thank God, for the laity who has been assisting in the work. Day 21 Commit into God s hands all Principals and teachers of our kindergartens in the Diocese. Pray that the children under their care grow holistically and this outreach ministry will result in many lives being touched and blessed. Pray for St. James Church Batu Pahat that the congregation will take on more responsibilities to build the congregation. Pray for Rev. Chiang (Sr) and his wife that God will bless them with good health. Day 22 Pray for St. Nicholas Home, Penang especially the Executive Director Mr. Ooi Chee Khoon as he leads the team to serve the community. Thank God for the support of the churches towards this social work. Pray for Archdeacon Andrew Phang, Chairman of the Board of Directors. Page 8 of 12

5 Pray for all the youths and children in our Diocese. Pray that they will take greater efforts to learn the bible and strengthen their faith. As our children and youths face many issues about other faiths in our communities, pray that they will hold fast to the truth in Jesus Christ. Day 23 Pray for more Vocation in the Diocese. Pray that many more capable and God fearing men and women will respond to serve God in the ministry especially as priests and deaconesses. Pray for the Ordination Committee that God will grant them discernment and wisdom as they interview those offering themselves for full time ministry.pray for the Anglican students at the Seminary. Day 24 Day 25 Pray for the Diocesan Missioner; Rev. John Ganapathy, that he will be able to minister to the members and bring God s message of hope and healing to the soul. Pray for travel mercies as he travels to the various parts of Malaysia, pray especially for his wife and daughter that God will provide for all their needs. Pray for those who are involved in the student s ministry in the various churches, that they will be equipped with all the resources to nurture the students, pray for all students in the churches. Remember all Youth Presidents, Server s Guild Presidents and Young Adult Presidents, Boys and Girls Brigade Leaders Pray for the Diocesan Communication Officer Mr. James Chee as he assists the Bishop, for the Properties Officer Mr. Cleopas Lim, for Deaconess Yvonne Tan, the Diocesan staff- Mrs. Abishegam, Mrs. Kannagi, Mrs. Diana, Mr. John, Mr. Selvam, Mr. Lee Kien Meng, Mr. David Joseph and Mdm. Meena.. Page 9 of 12 Day 26 Day 27 Day 28 Pray for the Province of South East Asia; Archbishop John Chew, Bishop Albert Voon, Bishop Datuk Made Katib and Bishop Tan Sri Lim Cheng Ean for the work and ministries of the Provincial Standing Committee; for PROSEAMS (Province of South East Asia Mission Services), its work and ministry to lead the province into wider mission and the development of Mission work in Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos and Nepal Pray for the Bishop of Sabah, Bishop Albert Voon that God will prepare him for the task ahead of him. Pray for the Provincial Clergy Conference in the month of February. Bishop of Kuching Rt. Rev. Datuk Made Katib that God will grant him good health and strength in all that he undertakes. Pray for the Bishop elect Rt. Rev. Bolly Lapok that God will equip him with the many gifts to serve him. Bishop of Singapore The Most Rev. John Chew, pray for wisdom as the diocese embarks on a number of evangelistic priorities and draws the resources to care for the missionary deaneries. Pray for the work amongst other denominations and especially our contribution to the Christian Federation of Malaysia. Pray for greater cooperation and the sharing of resources so as to meet the growing changes and challenges of Christians. Remember all church leaders as they meet the many challenges in this New Year. Pray for patience, wisdom and cooperation amongst all leaders. Day 29 For the completion of Cozy Home for the Elderly. Pray for people to give generously. The building project still needs funds to meet Page 10 of 12

6 Day 30 the total cost of RM2.7 million. Pray for the management Committee under the chairmanship of Mr. Peter Yuen. Pray for all our Non Stipendiary Ministers, and Lay Readers in the Diocese, for their dedication in serving the Lord, for their commitment in building the church for the greater glory of God. Thank God for their shared ministry that has blessed the life of the church. Pray for more capable, dedicated and God fearing men and women to offer themselves for Lay Readership, NSM and for honorary Deaconesses. Pray for our retired priests who are still serving in our churches. Thank God the faithful services of Rev. Luke Ooi who celebrated his 50 th anniversary of his Priesthood. Day 31 Dear Archdeacons, Clergy, Deaconesses and Friends, The Diocesan Prayer Cycle is currently produced for three months. Nonetheless, we will attempt to make the Diocesan Prayer Cycle as relevant, accurate and updated as possible. In order to achieve this we need your support and kind cooperation whereby you to us any prayer items. The next Prayer Cycle is for the next there months (April June 2007).
