2 JULY TO SEPTEMBER 2010 Diocesan Prayer Cycle DAY 1 Pray for Bishop Ng Moon Hing, as he prepares for the Dicoesan Synod; vision 2020; for safe travels; and wisdom in leading the Diocese; his wife Ding Siew Lan as she inspires and encourages the women to serve and their children in serving the Lord. The Archbishop The Most Rev Dr. John Chew for travel mercies as he oversees the work of the Province of South East Asia. Pray that Province will nurture the neigbouring countries to establish Dioceses. Our Nation -Seri Paduka Baginda Yang DiPertuan Agung; The Prime Minister & Ministers, Chief Ministers and Menteri Besars of the States; pray for our respective states and Local Council Leaders. Pray that very citizen will understand his right to vote and exercise it. DAY 2 Assistant Bishops, Archdeacons and their spouses: Assistant Bishop Dr S Batumalai & Elizabeth (Lower Central) Assistant Bishop Andrew Phang & Esther (Upper North), Archdeacon Charles Samuel & Alice (Eastern). Pray for those to be Ordained and Collated at the Ordination Service on the 2 nd of July at St. Barnabas Church Klang. DAY 3 Pray for our Diocesan Officers: Diocesan Secretary Mr. David Joseph, Diocesan Treasurer Mr. Kingsley Yuen, Diocesan Chancellor Mr. Andrew Khoo, and Diocesan Registrar Mr. D Rajasingam and for all the Synod Members of your church. Pray for the Standing Committee members as they share in the decision making policies of the Diocese. Pray that the committee will continue to be transparent, accountable, - 3 -

4 compassion and good steward of all that God has entrusted to the Diocese. DAY 4 St. Mary s Cathedral Pray for the Bishop Moon Hing, Very Rev. Jason Selvaraj, Rev. Davis Sigamoney, Rev. Dr. Andrew Cheah, Cathedral Clergy and Deaconesss, Pray for the Diocesan Synod Organizing Committee under the leadership of Dr Chong Su-Lin. Pray for the Eastern Archdeaonry 40 th Anniversary Celebration and the 2 nd Church Partnership in Mission Conference in Kuala Terengganu from the 2-4 of September. DAY 5 Pray for more manpower in the Diocese and potential laity to come forward to take up leadership roles in the newly planted churches. Pray that suitable locations in West Malaysia will be identified for Church planting and for other land investments. Pray for more people to go into full time ministry; pray that the parents and church members will encourage more - 4 -

5 young people to join the full time ministry. Pray that the young adults will come forward and offer them for priesthood. DAY 6 Pray for the Upper North Archdeaconry and for Assistant Bishop/Archdeacon Andrew Phang, Church of the Redeemer, Butterworth and Bukit Mertajam Anglican Center; Pray that God will bless him with wisdom as he oversees the work in the Upper North and Eastern regions. Pray for St. Paul s Church Bukit Tengah, Penang, Rev. Reuben Daniel, pray for the commencement of the new Church Building, the Vicarage and Multi Purpose Hall and for the members of the congregation. St. Thomas Church Kulim, Rev. Reuben Daniel, for their efforts to increase the membership of the church. Pray that the present congregation will shine as light and salt of Kulim. DAY 7 Pray that there will be greater involvement of women in the life and ministry of the church; Thank God the women in our churches and their contribution to the life of the church

6 Pray for the Lower North and the Tamil and Allied Work as they celebrate the 40 th anniversary of our Diocese and the Tamil Board anniversary on the 7 th of August at the church of the Holy Spirit. Pray for the Chairman Rev. John Kennedy. DAY 8 Church of the Holy Spirit, Ipoh, Ven. D. Steven Abbarow, for the No Apologies programme to train the facilitators who are certified by Focus on the family from the of July in the church. Pray that they will reach their target of 50 participants. Pray that the church will once again encourage and invite for young people to come forward for the full time ministry. Church of St. Andrew s Parit Buntar Canon Charles Fraser. Pray that the authorities will approve the decision to renovate the church. The Gethsemane Church in Jawi, as they purchase a new building. For Church growth and the efforts to undertake evangelism with peoples of other faiths. DAY 9 Lower North Archdeaconry, as they double up their efforts to implement Discipleship programmes as a way of life in the life of the Church

7 Pray for more young people to join the Diocese as Diocesan Youth Workers; for those between years of age. Pray that Churches will allocate a budget to help the young people to carry out their activities. DAY 10 Pray for the 40 th Diocesan Anniversary Dinner and the 2 nd Church Partnership in Mission on the 2 nd -4 th of September in Kuala Terengganu. Pray for Mission Work to extend to the new township in Sungei Buloh which will be the new hub for the Klang Valley. Pray for the Tabernacle Church in Bukit Darah for Rev. John Peramaloo as they prepare for this new challenging ahead of them. Thank God for the new private school in Iskandar Johore- Marlborough College where the Anglican Church will play an important role as Chaplain to the College. Pray that that the Anglican influence will be preserved in this college. DAY 11 Pray for the completion of construction for the new building in Jalan Tengah Kuala Lumpur; pray that there will be no natural interruptions to the progress of work in the main Builders work (superstructure); for a smooth outcome of - 7 -

8 the whole project; for the safety of all workers and that the project will be completed by May Pray for the partnership between the Standing Committee and the Mergexcel that there will be proper accountability at all levels of progress on the above building; pray that they will engage professionals to ensure that the work on the Synod s block commensurate with the quality promised to the Diocese. DAY 12 All Saints Church Kuala Lumpur; Pray for the construction work next to the church building, pray for the safety of the kindergarten children, parents and teachers 3 July: Jumble Sale: Pray for good weather and good sale for the social concern ministry of the church 11 July: Baptism Sunday: Pray for those who will be baptized, that they will continue to know and love God. 4 Sept: Jumble Sale: Pray for good weather and good sale for social concern ministry of the church. 12 Sept: Pray for journey mercy and the sharing of Rev. Christopher Tan at All Saints Church for the Chinese Board Pulpit Exchange Ministry

9 DAY 13 Emmanuel Center in Rasah, Seremban, for Anthony Pillai, Lay Leader. Pray for renewal, revival and regeneration and a breakthrough in mission; pray for a breakthrough in every church in the Diocese; pray that God will raise more Church workers and prayer partners. Pray that a harvest of souls and a fulfilling of the mission of the church. Pray for Diocesan Golden Circle AGM/Fellowship from the of August 2010 in Kuala Lumpur; for the Organizing Committee. DAY 14 1 August: The carnival of Pudu English Girls School to raise fund to build a gym: pray for the school chaplain Dss Chin Kho Nee. Pray for good weather and good sales of tickets for the benefit of the students. 6 August: Meeting of Board of Governors of Pudu English Girls School: Pray for a fruitful meeting. 7 August: Jumble Sale: Pray for good weather and good sale for the social concern ministry of the church. Pray for the Diocesan Mission Conference from the of September 2010; for the organising committee

10 DAY 15 Pray for the Provincial Youth Network (PYNET) from the 15-23th July 2010 and the Diocesan Youth Synod from the th of July Pray for the Youth Chairperson Shireen V. Pray for the PROSEAMS meeting in Kuala Lumpur from the of September Pray for the proposed new Diocesan office in Ampang Hilir which is a 8 storey Stand alone building. Pray that the committee entrusted to look into this matter will study this proposal carefully and make the necessary recommendations to the Standing Committee. DAY 16 Pray for the Vision of the Diocese and the Goals o An Anglican School of Mission and Ministry o A Province with 4 Dioceses o To send 10 mission workers abroad Pray in the month of August o To have 100 full time stipend Priest o To have 150 NSM/LOM Priest o To have 100 Deaconesses Pray in the month of September o To have 400 Lay Readers

11 o To have 400 Lay Readers o To have 400 Lay Pastors o To open two Private Anglican Schools o To establish an Anglican Publishing House. o 10 seminarians per year to enter seminary. DAY 17 Pray that all the churches will try and meet their Diocesan Quota so that the Diocese will be in a better position for plan for the growth and development of personnel and church growth. Pray for St. John s Church Ipoh, as PCC has undertaken major renovations on the roof due to termite infestation. Pray that all the funds will be available to them. Pray for Good Shepherd Church Seri Alam, Johor as they raise funds to purchase an auctioned building at Taman Scientex, Johore Baru. DAY 18 Pray for Diocese of Myanmar, Archbishop Stephen as he goes for heart treatment; Believers in the Chin State who have suffered ill health due to rat infestation- extreme poverty has caused them to be in despair and leave the church

12 Bangladesh, Primate: Rt Revd Paul Sihir Sarkar and for the Bishop of Daka, Rt Revd. Michael S. Baroi; pray that more people will come forward to be coordinators and facilitators to help teach the children Pray for Council of Churches of Malaysia as they find ways to raise funds for the CCM Building Fund. Pray that they will be no more hindrance preventing them from commencing the construction. DAY 19 Pray for the Diocesan Education (Anglican Mission Schools) Committee, Mrs. Sushi Packianathan, Pray for the heads of our Anglican Schools as they work hard to establish a high level of performances in our schools. Pray that the parents will encourage their students to take up bible knowledge as part of their syllabus. Pray for all Kindergartens as they their reassess their roles with the Education system in the country. Pray for the new intact of Preschool teachers in the Teachers Training Colleges throughout the country. Pray for the Ministry of Education to make the right decision concerning the UPSR and the PMR exams

13 DAY 20 Pray for the Diocese, as they take all the necessary steps to look into the possibility of relocating the St. Aidan s School to a new site offered by a developer in Bahau. Pray for the progress work of the New Rumah Bishop to be build at Jalan Tebu, Ampany; pray for the planning approvals to be given and to identify good and efficient contractors for this project. Pray for the development of land beside St. Mark s School Butterworth, as we wait for the individual titles to be issued for the lots and buildings to be put there. DAY 21 For the Eastern Archdeaconry: St Andrew s Church, Kuala Terengganu; Archdeacon Charles Samuel, Praise God that two lots of land properties has been secured in the State of Terengganu. That the Building plans for the New Rumah Damai will be approved by the authorities and that there will be sufficient funds for the projects. Pray for God blessings to be upon the new missionary work in Temerloh, Mentakap and Karak (20 people attend Sunday service)- Mr. Samuel church worker in Pahang. Pray

14 for full time workers to be posted. Pray for a Chinese worker to start work amongst the Chinese. DAY 22 Pray for the new church in Subang Jaya called Christ the King under the care of Canon John Ganapathy. The church is to be dedicated on the 22 nd of August. 10 members will be confirmed. Their services are held every Tuesdays and Sundays. Pray for St. Peter s Church Kapar, Selangor that they will be able to pay up their outstanding building loan. Pray for individuals donors to reach out to them and assist them. Pray for St. Paul s Center Jalan Spooner, Ipoh and for their building extension works; pray that the funds will be forthcoming from donors and members. DAY 23 Pray for all those who will be attending the Diocesan Synod in August; for greater participation in the discussion; a sense of ownership in the growth and development of the Diocese and an eagerness to share in the mission. Pray for Parishes and churches that do not have priest :- Emmanuel Church Tapah, St. Luke s Church Teluk Intan; St

15 Peter s Church Ipoh, St. George s Church Penang and 17 other churches in the diocese. Pray for more lay people to come forward to be trained and to assist in these churches. Pray for the Young Adult Conference in Malacca which will be conducted in 4 languages. Pray for all the speakers and coordinators. The Conference will be held from the of July DAY 24 Pray for the forthcoming 21 st Diocesan Golden Circle AGM/Fellowship to be held in Kuala Lumpur; for the planning committee. Diocesan Children s Ministry; for the teacher s training programmes in the diocese; for the preparation for the Christmas Concert Pray for the Southern Archdeaconry Outing at Tanjung Balau, Kota Tinggi on the 24 th of July. Pray for the Training programme to be held at Church of Good Shepherd Seri Alam Pray for the Bahasa Malaysia Seminar/Conference which is now to be organized as a Diocesan event in September. Thank God for their new leaders and their missionary activities amongst this language speaking groups

16 DAY 25 Pray for the 80 th anniversary of St. Michael s Church Ipoh. Praise God for the dedicated members who have worked and contributed to the growth of the church. Pray for the Christ the King Subang Jaya; for the church worker Mr. Joshua as they undertake Youth ministry (Metropolitan, Inti and Segi Colleges) and Nepali Ministry for church worker-buddhi Man Khadka) Tanjung Malim Anglican Center which is a community centre and for Rev. Raymond Lai as he plans programmes to reach out to the community. DAY 26 Pray for the all those who are planning the Provincial Gathering next year in Penang. Pray for a good hotel, for volunteers to come forward to assist in the smooth planning of this gathering; for the chairman Bishop Andrew Phang. Pray for the 14 th anniversary of Gereja Shalom Gopeng. Thank God for the pioneers who toiled in the mission field; pray for the present congregation which is comprised of indigenous people

17 Pray for Overseas Anglican Students studying at STM. Pray for Rev. Shahid Younis and his wife Ms Sheba Rose from Pakistan; for Rev. Daniel Phwe Bu, Rev. Paul Ka Nyaw Htoo, and Ms Lynn Naw Hai Favour from Myanmar; pray that they will be able to adapt to the local situation and to the course at STM. DAY 27 Pray for these churches to be able to become Missionary Districts Upper North Bukit Mertajam Anglican Church, Church of the Good Shepherd and Bagan Jermal Anglican Church. In the Lower North, pray for church that can become a Parish, St. Peter s Church Bagan Serai, Church of the Resurrection, Christ Church Ipoh, Gereja Hallelujah Ipoh, Cornerstone Sanctuary Bercham, and Church of the Holy Cross Sitiawan. In the Upper Central, pray for centers to become Missionary Districts Pennial Assembly Cheras, Church of the Holy Spirit T.P. Garang, Church of El Shaddai Sg Pelek, St. Peter s Church Kapar, and St. Jude s Church Sg. Way and Peace Community Church BK Jalil

18 DAY 28 Lower Central Archdeaconry, pray for the centers to become Missionary Districts-St. Chad Center, Ladang Geddes and Melimau Centers Southern Archdeaconry, pray that churches will become Parish, St. Andrew s Church Ulu Tiram and St. Luke s Church Kluang Eastern Archdeaconry, pray that these St. Joseph Church Kemaman will become a Parish and Emmanuel Church Kok Lanas will become a Missionary District. DAY 29 Pray for The Association of The Dioceses of Singapore and West Malaysia, for Bishop Dumper, and Rev. Ann Bucknell, secretary. Remember and thank God for all the missionaries who served in our churches and Diocese. Pray for the Anglican Mission in Medan, fro Holy Trinity Church and two other churches, for Senior Pastor Alagesan and Julie Chu, and two other pastors Eddy and Alex. Pray for the Sri Gunting Children s Center that caters for 100 children; fro Mr. Lim Bie Tjin who runs two Chinese schools

19 DAY 30 For Christ Church Bangkok, as it strives to be a vibrant, welcoming, bible based, prayerful community which worships the risen Jesus Christ and demonstrates Christ s Love Diocese of Singapore, for St. Andrew s Cathedral, Very Rev. Kuan Kim Seng, and Canon Dr. Louis Tay and all other staff. Diocese of Sabah Rt. Rev. Bolly Lapok his wife Mary; pray for more young people to join the sacred vocation. DAY 31 Retired Clergy- Bishop Lim Cheng Ean, Assistant Bishop Ponniah Moses, Rev Canon Mark Choong; Rev Canon Kwok Hon Kai; Rev Canon Dr Joseph Louis Sebastian; Rev Luke Ooi; Rev Peter Young; Rev Chiang Yee Ann; Rev Davis Sigamoney; Rev. Stephen Ng, Rev. Peter Chiew, Rev. Roderick Khoo Canon Emeritus Peter Devanayagam, Canon Emeritus George Michael, Deaconess Chan Ooi Fong and their families. Dear Bishop, Assistant Bishops, Archdeacons, Clergy, Deaconesses and Friends, The Diocesan Prayer Cycle is for three months. It includes prayer items that concern the people of the Church.
