Our final Chicken BBQ of 2018 was a complete success!!! Despite all the other BBQ s and Breakfast fundraisers that were all around us, we sold our last dinner at 12:30. That is truly amazing and we sincerely thank everyone who helped in any way. Our parish is blessed to have so many devoted volunteers and devoted patrons. Thanks to our parishioners who baked all those PIES and cakes. Father Jim s call to PIES was heard and acknowledged (and he was very grateful). Thanks to all who helped replenish our towels and dish cloths. We now have a nice supply of GOOD towels to work with. This BBQ was also a Religious Education day for our children and they worked over at the BBQ. We had many very eager and helpful hands working with us, learning how much fun it is to be part of the church family. What a wonderful way to show your love of God and your church!! This Chicken BBQ season is over and all three BBQ s were a complete success. This could not be done without the devotion and hard work of our chairmen Bob & Kathy Shepard. As heads of this event, they do a fantastic job making sure all goes smoothly. As this is a large and stressful task, our parish thanks them for all they do and sacrifice to make it happen. And, on that note they have already begun the planning for next year. So, everyone please mark your calendars to volunteer and assist them on these dates: March 17, April 28, and May 19, 2019 Congratulations to our raffle winners: Randy Bow $500 Mary Shaughnessy $200 3

4 MARRIAGE MOMENT: A married woman must, when called upon, quit her devotions to God at the altar to find God in her household affairs. (St. Frances of Rome) One can reverse this quote and substitute a married man. It s still true. The vocation of marriage and parenthood is holy. It s one way of knowing and serving God. PARENTING PERSPECTIVE: May 27 is Trinity Sunday. Does your child know what the Trinity means? How can God be 3 in 1? Each of us is one person but we have different personalities, gifts, and jobs to do. Which person of the Trinity do you relate to most? Creator, Redeemer, Spirit. All ladies of Mary Immaculate Parish are invited to attend. There will be a guest speaker with a short presentation. Please sign your name on the paper at the entrance of each church site. We need to know the number attending for the restaurant. Come and join us for a good social time. We like your company. CATHOLIC CHARITIES SITES: Services provided by Catholic Charities are in all 8 counties of Western New York. If you need to contact Catholic Charities for any services needed, please see the flyer on the bulletin board at the back of each church. FAITH MOMENT: In today's Gospel, Jesus goes to great lengths to prepare for the Passover meal. He understood the significance of the event in remembering the covenant God made with the Israelites. Jesus also understood His own destiny: that he would give of himself so that we may all have eternal life in heaven. This is the New Covenant which is central to the Christian faith. What is your purpose; your destiny? Is your community a better place because you are there? What about your family and friends? Are they better people for having known you? Like Jesus, we are called to live out our destiny; to show God's love to one another through our self giving actions and words. Like Jesus, our relationship with God will give us the strength we need to carry out our purpose. Today's Faith Moment was provided by Christ the King Seminary. 5 FUNDRAISER BENEFIT: There will be a fundraiser benefit for Maverick Brumsted Shaw on Sunday, June 10 th from 12 to 5 pm at the Polish Falcons on 123 S Swan St., Batavia, NY. Maverick was 8 months old when he was bitten in the face by a dog on Easter Sunday. He was transported by Mercy Flight from Wyoming County Community Hospital to Shriners Hospital for Children in Cincinnati, Ohio. He will need many surgeries and scar therapy. All proceeds will go to Maverick s family to help with medical expenses. PARISH COUNCIL: We currently have an opening available for Parish Council. If anyone is interested please contact the business office. COFFEE HOUR: There will be a Coffee Hour after 8:00am Mass this Sunday, June 3 rd at Conlin Hall. All are welcome!! SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION: This year s Confirmation took place last Tuesday, May 15 th by Monsignor Slubecky at Our Lady of Mercy Parish in LeRoy. Thank you my Dearly Beloved Ones for the Cards, the prayers and the wonderful get well wishes! Thank you for taking me in for the surgery and subsequent Doctors visits! Thank you for taking me to the Pharmacies to collect my medications! Thank you for doing my groceries! The surgery pains are gradually going away; the overall recovery is slower than I needed it. In all; I give God the Glory of every progress thus far! Know that I cannot appreciate your love and care enough!!! I regret I am going to miss the Confirmation of our Parish candidates for this year at LeRoy. I wish Samantha Miller, Robert Offhaus, Owen Sidhu, Alex Brumsted, Montana Weidman, Bailey Logsdon and Charles Urbanczyk the best of the strength of our Catholic Faith, endowed by Confirmation. 6 K OF C BREAKFAST: There will be a Knights of Columbus breakfast on Sunday, June 10 th from 8:30 11:00am in LeRoy behind the Save a Lot parking lot. All are welcome. Leftovers A nervous previous preacher forgot his notes for the sermon he was about to deliver. So he decided to wing it. In the middle of his address he got a few things twisted when he declared that the Lord took four thousand barley loaves and six thousand fishes and fed twenty four people, and had plenty left over. A heckler in the congregation called out, Anybody could do that, preacher. Could you? asked the minister. Certainly I could. After the service when the preacher complained about the interrupter s conduct, he was told of his error by a deacon. Well, next week I will not forget my notes. I ll fix that character. The next week the minister stepped forward confidently and began his sermon. In the course of his remarks, he corrected the numbers mentioned last Sunday. He told how five barley loaves and two fishes had fed the multitude of probably twenty four thousand people. Then he pointed to the previous Sunday s heckler and asked, Could you do that/ I sure could, said the heckler. And just how would you do it? asked the preacher. With the loaves and fishes left over from last Sunday. CHICKEN BBQ AND THEME BASKET RAFFLE: Sacred Heart of Jesus in Bennington Center will be holding their annual chicken BBQ on Sunday, June 3 rd from 12:00 noon until sold out at the Bennington Fire Hall. Dinner includes ½ chicken, salt potatoes, baked beans, cole slaw, dessert and drink. There will also be a theme basket raffle. CATHOLIC COMMUNICATIONS: Next week, our second collection is for the Catholic Communication Campaign. This campaign connects people with Christ, here and around the world in developing countries, through the internet, television, radio, and print media. And fifty percent of funds collected remain in our diocese to fund local communications efforts. Your support helps spread the gospel message!
