We are to take with tremendous seriousness our charge to love. Let s not assume that we fully know what love is or that it has the proper centrality in our lives. Love God and love other people. Take time alone with God and talk to Him about these things. Examine Matthew 22: Jesus explains all of scripture; all of His plans for history hang on these two great purposes: that God be loved with all our heart, and that we love each other as we love ourselves. Love not as the world loves but love according to the love we received from our Heavenly Father through Jesus Christ. FEBRUARY 13 TH ANTIOCH BOOK CLUB: Mondays at 6:45 p.m. Join the Antioch Book Club as it begins reading, Democracy in Black: How Race Still Enslaves the American Soul by Professor Eddie Glaude, Jr. The book is a powerful commentary on the state of black America that savages the idea of a post-racial society. This year we are asking you to donate only new winter coats for the kids in the Morris Black community located off Woodland Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio. If you are interested in a short-term, in-house mission project on behalf of the American Baptist Women s Ministry, we are collecting new sheets to make rolled bandages to send to the hospitals in The Congo. Sybil Jones will be in Branch Hall every Sunday after worship service through Sunday, February 19 th to tell you how we can unite to help. Members can assist financially by buying an ad or being a patron. This is the Credit Union s only fundraiser for Arthur Childress, Jr. AFRICAN AMERICAN READ-IN: The Library Committee is requesting that you read at least one book by an African American author during the month of February to celebrate Black History Month. When you have completed your book(s), please fill out the attached tear sheet and place it in the box at the back of the church.
