Come and hear two dynamic guest speakers. The speaker for the 8:00 service will be Pastor Gregory Cooper of Antioch Full Gospel Baptist Church. Pastor John Dillon of Body of Christ Fellowship will deliver the Word during the second service. Jackson, Editor I love my morning walks in the park. When the cloudless blue sky is most beautiful and the fall wind is cool and inviting, I am in awe of God s presence. Like the trees, I stretch out my arms to God. Like the birds that sing, I, too, sing praises to Him. This is my favorite worship setting. The goodness and mercies of our Heavenly Father are with us and all around us. From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same, our God deserves our worship and praise. Thanksgiving is that special time of year when many people prepare to spend time with loved ones. Many spruce up their homes, prepare special meals, and set aside that day for family and friends. In the midst of all these preparations, remember to take some time to reflect on the goodness of our Father. Many churches will be open on Thanksgiving Day, including those listed below. 3 November, 2014 Page 3 The Royal Ambassadors The Royal Ambassadors is a nonprofit Christian music ensemble under the direction of Kenneth H. Collins. This group of high school and college students enjoys promoting their gifts of music as they perform throughout the Greater New Orleans area and the nation. The Royal Ambassadors performed in churches in Houston, Texas and in Memphis, TN this past summer and was very well received. Impressed by their performance, Rev. Dr. William P. Butler, pastor of Rock of Ages Baptist Church in Knoxville, TN, has extended an invitation to the Royal Ambassadors to be their special guest at their New Year s Eve worship service. The cost of this trip is enormous. These deserving students are asking the Fellowship Journal family of churches, businesses, and the community-at-large to help them with travel expenses. A special service will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at 3 p.m. Rev. Micheal Kelly from St. Matthews Missionary Baptist Church of Picayune, MS is the guest preacher. The church will also host the 90 th birthday celebration for Sis. Vernice E. 12 Page 12 Death with Dignity A 29-year-old woman named Brittany Maynard, suffering from an aggressive brain tumor, died on November 1, 2014, but not from the tumor. She took her own life in the name of "death with dignity." It became national news when she announced on social media her decision to take her life. She even landed on the cover of People Magazine. Collectively, it brought the issue of "right to die" to the forefront of public conversation. The Bible is very clear about the taking of a human life. In Exodus 20:13, in the sixth of the Ten Commandments, God says, "You shall not murder" (Exodus 20:13, NIV). The key word there is "murder." The reason is simple - it's because life is sacred. Not just some lives, but every life. The fact that each and every one of us was created in the image of God gives each and every one of us infinite worth and value. Taking it upon ourselves to end a life is the ultimate act of defiance against God, for life is His and His alone to give and take. All human beings have infinite worth because they are made in the image of God. And the taking of a life - any life - is showing contempt for God and His image. Life is sacred.
